For exterior applications, we recommend our water-based Vermont Natural Coatings PolyWhey Exterior Penetrating Stain or oil-based Rubio Monocoat Hybrid Exterior Wood Protector. Both are non-toxic stains and sealers all in one and both offer many colors as well as a clear stain. However, clear stains provide almost no protection from UV light and will gray out within a few years. Therefore, we suggest using a darker color stain because the pigments will protect from UV and your finish will last much longer.�For paint, we recommend one coat of AFM Transitional Primer, and two coats of AFM All Purpose Exterior Satin Paint. This can be tinted to AFM's colors or any major brand of paint.Samples of all the above are available on our website for testing.
