I realize a different product would be best for butcher block, but I already have this product and have no other use for it. Is it food safe? Can I use it on my counters?

No, Bioshield Hard Oil #9 is not rated as food safe. You may use it on your countertops as long as you aren't preparing food on the surface directly.You may be able to find someone who would like to have it by joining your local Freecycle group online.
