We recommend the colored finishes to provide the most UV protection on the outside of the box. While it will provide some protection on the inside, prolonged exposure to moisture will eventually eat through the finish and rot the wood. Sand boxes in desert climates or high altitude mountain regions will have much less moisture than those in the northwest, midwest, northeast or southern parts of the US. You will need to use your best judgment based your environmental conditions as which product to use.Our AFM Dynoseal is the only true waterproofing membrane for wood and is highly recommended for raised garden beds, sand boxes or any foundation work below grade.
