Is this safe to use on a indoor/outdoor play gym made from birch plywood. This is the sealer they recommended but I don't see anything about this being safe for kids to be playing around on or whether it can be used on something that will be inside the house half the year (winter months) and outside half the year (summer months). Also how long would it be usable after opening. As in if I plan or reapplying every so often can I buy in bulk and save leftovers for a prolonged period? Vermont's Exterior Penetrating Water Proofer is a zero VOC non-toxic product that is safe for everyone.Shelf life is about 1-2 years. If it is uncontaminated, it could last longer. To prevent contamination, don't dip your brush into the can. Instead pour out what you need in a small container and work from there. Bacteria that gets on the brush can easily transfer into the container and cause issues. Therefore, when done, DO NOT pour any remains back into the container.This product is clear and will protect against moisture but has little UV protection and will grey out over two years. For longer UV protection, we recommend the Vermont PolyWhey Ext. Stain in any of the colors. It's the pigments that block UV. Expect 3-5 years. With the caveat the Stain is not a waterproofer.
