There is not any specific time frame for how long the stain will last. The main factor in the end is going to be more dependent on the color you choose, the more pigment that is in the stain the better it will hold up to the UV of the sun. As long as the stain is able to penetrate into the wood properly it will hold up well against the moisture aspect of the weather.
