IPE as you probably know is a very dense wood and difficult to stain and seal. It will need to be roughed up, i.e. sanded before application and tested to see how the colors are absorbed. Do not guess at this.
I have an untreated IPE deck in Northern CA near the coast, gets foggy but burns off mid morning, I have Rubio Monocoat 5� white inside my house and love it, really want to use the Rubio exterior in Look Ipe - my question is do I need to power wash my deck prior to using the Rubio exterior wash?
