How long it lasts as a water proofer is entirely dependent on what the environmental conditions the wood is exposed to. If your wood is in direct sunlight, you could reapply every two-ish years. It can last longer if not in direct sun. This water proofer is a penetrating finish that ONLY waterproofs the wood. There is no finish coat, no abrasion resistance, no UV resistance and no change to the woods appearance (except when it gets wet) - so your wood will continue to age/weather/gray naturally. If you want a finish that will color the wood and protect it from the sun/graying, please consider Vermont Natural Coating's PolyWhey Exterior Stain or Rubio Monocoat's Hybrid Exterior Wood Protector.
