Vermont's Penetrating Water Proofer is clear and therefore has no UV protection. It is designed to seal out moisture from the inside. It will grey over time.A better solution is Vermont's PolyWhey Exterior Stain which does have UV protection in the form of pigments which help block the sun from damaging the surface of the wood. There are no other chemical UV protectors in this product. Our experience is that darker colors last longer and block UV better. In outdoor testing in Iowa, we have found this product holds up to direct sun, rain, snow and ice for 3-4 years on the south and west side of a building without degradationand longer on northern and eastern sides. Just one caveat, the stain is not a waterproofer.
