I have cedar railings on my deck. About 8 years ago (when my contractor was dying) he sent a workman to put a sealant on the railings. It looked great for about a month and then grew black mold. If I sand the railings lightly, will your penetrating water proofer / sealer do the job without growing another crop of black mold? Or do I need a fungicidal wash to start?
