This is product is designed for exterior decking and is not designed for food areas. We offer two food grade products for countertops: Bioshield Herbal Oil and AFM SafeCoat Naturals Clear Penetrating Oil. Both of these are penetrating sealers that must be applied on freshly sanded wood. If there is currently a sealer on the surface, it would need to be sanded off. If you prefer a coating to go over your existing sealer instead, we recommend our AFM SAfecoat Acrylacq or AFM Safecoat Polyureseal BP. Both are clear topical coatings that are non-toxic but not "food grade", i.e. are not edible. As long as you are not cutting on the surface or have toddlers chewing on the countertop, these may work better for your application. Acrylacq was made for wooden furniture and is a non-toxic lacquer substitute. Polyureseal BP was made for hardwood flooring and has better abrasion resistance. Samples of all products are available online.
