Gym areas can go one way or the other. If there is excessive weight or activity/movement on the floor (basketball, running, zumba, free weights, cross-fit, aerobic, etc.), or potential for moisture (hot yoga) we would 100% recommend you glue the waterproof cork flooring down. A stationary treadmill (and that is it), you might be able to get away with just a floating installation, but we'd recommend you go the extra step to glue it down. If you decide to do a floating installation over concrete, a vapor barrier is required. We would recommend Moisture Block. Check out the installation guidelines for further info on optional underlayments: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/core/media/media.nl?id=1932894&c=772072&h=M
