The most effective way to seal a Mahogany deck prevent it from graying would be to use our Rubio Monocoat DuroGrit. This is a non-toxic zero VOC oil-based sealer that comes in 16 colors. It's the mineral pigments that block the UV from the sun and prevent the graying. CLEAR sealers, including our Vermont Natural Coatings WaterProofer or Polywhey protect against moisture but typically gray within 1-2 years. The Durogrit is a second generation product that has been greatly improved and only requires one good coat. Horizontal surfaces in direct sun may require additional coats after several years but this is easy to reapply as the stain does not peel or chip.
