You have got a choice to make. You can use the PolyWhey if you like the color. PolyWhey is a penetrating stain which adds a level of water proof on it's own. The non-clear colors also offer a degree of UV protection if your outdoor table gets a lot of sun. But, there is no finish, no sheen, no abrasion resistance and you can't apply a water based finish on top of a waterproofer as there will be no bonding between the two. If you want a sheen, and color, we would recommend coloring with AFM Safecoat DuroTone stain, and then going over that with AFM Safecoat EXT Exterior Polyureseal Clear. The EXT will give your table the sheen, and as a bonus, also provide a degree of abrasion resistance. For a satin finish, apply a first coat of gloss followed by a coat of satin.
