Hi there. The synthetic carpet in the house we recently purchased was apparently fitted in 2015. The info provided about AFM's Carpet Seal suggests that you might only need to use this is the carpet is under 4 years old. Is this true? And is this because carpet backing has typically stopped off gassing after 4 years? If I don't need to use the Carpet Seal, would you still recommend using AFM's Carpet Lock Out to prevent off gassing of the fibers? If so, does this product also need to be re-applied on a yearly basis and how long do the fibers typically continue to offgas?

We confirmed with the manufacturer, if the carpet is no longer actively offgassing/causing problems for you then you could skip the Carpet Seal. You hit the nail on the head with regard to the instruction, fresh carpet has the offgassing, which is why the Carpet Seal would help. At this point, the Shampoo component can clean your carpet, and the Lock Out can help keep the carpet clean with it's dirt repellent properties.
