Paint is a sealer unto itself, so you could stop there if your goal is to just seal the door. You can top-coat if you wish. Provided this latex-based paint does not contain oil, you could go over it with poly if you want an extra oomph of abrasion resistance. Use AFM Polyureseal BP if this is an interior door, or AFM EXT Exterior Polyureseal Clear if this is an exterior door. As this is a semi-gloss paint, you may need to lightly sand/degloss the surface so you can get a good bond with the Poly. First coats should be gloss sheen for best visibility, and then finish with whatever sheen you wish to end up with (Semi-Gloss is an option), beyond that, follow the directions. We also advise you to get a sample first to test and establish you like the look and can get a good bond with your latex paint before committing to the entire project.
