Maple can be tricky. Your first order of business should be to order samples online to test to see how your maple reacts with this product. One thing people have done is to get a plain, clean spray bottle and put water in it. They then barely mist the wood to open pores and try stain after that. You don't want it wet. Just misted. Often that is the cure. There are pre conditioners out there for maple, but they aren't non toxic. Also, any oil based product, such as this, will amber through time in varying degrees on different woods. So that will happen.
