Yes, after application of the Soy Gel, clean remaining residue with Franmar's EMERGE or water, using a scrub brush and/or mop or power washer. Depending upon how thick the Soy Gel was applied, it could take several cleanings to remove all the residue (and usually does). Once cleaned, let dry for several days before applying any stain or finish.
Use of a brightener may or may not be useful.
Always test the brightener and/or stain with small samples first. Also, check with the manufacturer to be sure the brightener is compatible with the stain or finish before applying.
