I can confirm your math is correct; these rug grippers run roughly 2.5 lbs per square yard. We love this brand and this product, and have no idea how Walmart's copy compares.
The 6 x 9 shows Weight per Sale Unit = 14.95 lbs. So does the pad weigh about 2.5 lbs per sq yard? Earth Weave Rug Gripper
6 x 9 = 6 sq yards. 14.95/6 = 2.5. Walmart sells a similar product it says is 16 oz per sq yard which is much lighter and a bit more expensive.
