The manufacturer recommends using a hardwood floor cleaner, such as Bona (which it sounds like you are using), "smears" is interesting- here is my best guess with limited information.
You will want to use the Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner (not Bona Floor Polish). Make sure you vacuum or dust your floor before using your wet cleaner (to remove grit and dirt) and use a clean microfiber pad to ensure you are not just pushing dirt around.
