When you are installing any kind of flooring into a room, you need to first clear that room of all movable items that would otherwise be on the floor, including furniture, area rugs, etc.
The same is true if installing flooring insulation (i.e. underlayment) over your subfloor in anticipation of your flooring install.
If you are residing in the space during installation, temporarily relocate your furniture to another room, garage, or storage unit.
