We’ve provided several answers to questions related to Wool Carpet , see some other helpful Q&A related to this product.
Question: Does "Loop Pile" pull and run like a loom hook rug?
Answer: While the loop pile is a tight weave, it is always possible that it could pull and run. We advise treating your wool carpet with care. Here is a link to the manufacturer's care instructions for the Earth Weave McKinley carpet. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Delivery weight of 10x12 wool area rug?
Answer: Around 75-85 lbs.
Question: Can I get this carpet made into a 9 foot round carpet, and if so, what would be the cost?
Answer: Yes, Please contact us directly [1-888-727-2101] for cost as this will be considered a custom area rug and will require us to get a quote direct from the manufacturer. We just need to know style, size and brand to get that started for you.
Question: How do you think this a wool rug will do with high humidity? Would it feel damp? Smell like sheep? :) Might the wool's high absorption rate lead to mold in the backing? The ambient humidity where I live is 70 - 80% but it's cool enough for the windows to be open. Thank you.
Answer: Nothing contributes more to mold development and growth than regular/sustained moisture. Wool carpeting would be happiest, and could live a nice long life in relative humidity of 40%-50%. At 70%-80% RH, without any dry periods to release/balance the moisture, the Wool will absorb/hold too much, and as soon as any particulates get trapped in the fibers, it will develop mold/mildew issues for sure. So, if there's very little opportunity for the carpet to dry out and shed that moisture regularly, you wouldn't want to install this as a whole room carpet. Area rugs that could be deep cleaned regularly, or can be picked up and dried/aired out would be a better choice. If you have wool carpeting or rugs currently, running HVAC, or a dehumidifier to keep the internal humidity at a preferred 45% RH will be best for the safety and longevity of your floor covering.
Question: We are thinking about this carpet in a custom size for our garage that we are converting into a kids bedroom. What type of material goes underneath the carpet to have it super cushiony for little kids to play on/fall down on? What is best for insulation for under this carpet to keep warm during winter months?
Answer: For Earth Weave wall to wall carpet we recommend Earth Weave 100% Wool Enertia Carpet which provides good cushion and good insulation. For area rugs we offer a Earth Weave Rug Gripper which will provide very little cushion or insulation. We sell sample sizes of both these products on our website, so you can see and feel how they will or won't work for your situation.
Question: Can you deliver the carpet with binding on edges?
Answer: Earthweave offers all of its carpets as area rugs. Standard sizes are shown on our website and customer sizes are also available. Please call 800-405-0222 for more information. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
Question: Would this carpet be a good choice for a van floor and if so, what type of padding would you recommend?
Answer: We'd recommend our Marmoleum sheeting or Amorim waterproof cork for a van floor.
Question: What is the pattern match?
Answer: I do not understand your question. McKinley has no pattern to speak of, it is just a flat color.
Question: Are area carpets available in custom sizes?
Answer: Yes, almost all of our wall-to-wall carpets are available as custom area rugs. Please reach out to an Eco-Advisor for a quote, and we will be happy to assist you.
