We’ve provided several answers to questions related to Wood Stains & Sealers , see some other helpful Q&A related to this product.
Question: Does Rubio Monocoat, DuroGrit, Exterior Stain and Sealer have any animal or animal bi-products?
Answer: None of the Rubio Monocoat has animal or animal bi-products in it.
Question: Is DuroGrit organic?
Answer: It is non toxic but not organic.
Question: Would the DuroGrit work on thermally modified wood?
Answer: Yes, according to Rubio's Technical Data Sheet, "PLEASE NOTE: Although DuroGrit offers state-of-the-art UV protection, the result still depends on the chosen color and wood type. As a rule of thumb, the darker the color, the better the durability. Some wood types, especially thermally modified wood, are extremely sensitive to color change due to exposure to UV light. For these wood types we recommend using a dark color. The color Bison Brown was designed specifically for Thermowood. This color is not recommended for wood species with a light look. We advise to use the white and pastel colors on softwood only."
Question: Need outdoor stain for front steps and porch. Wood is brand new, fir and pine. Will these two wood types absorb the stain similarly? (fir for stairs, pine for porch; like the Sutton Grey color). How many years does the stain last? When it's time to reapply, can we apply the stain over the existing Rubio Monocoat, or do we have to sand off to reapply?
Answer: To see how the stain will appear on both wood types, you will need to order a sample and try it out. Rubio Monocoat DuroGrit is a durable stain, although there is never any way to know how long a stain will last since environmental and weather conditions can vary. When the time comes to reapply stain, you will need to sand your wood first. Please note the following: New, water-repellent pressure treated wood must be allowed to dry and weather for approximately 6-12 months before doing the surface preparation and coating. We recommend allowing the new installed wood to weather outdoors for about 4-6 weeks. When this is not possible, sand the wood properly with 80 grit sandpaper for decking and siding.
Question: Best long term treatment for outdoor teak chairs and table?
Answer: Yes, Rubio Monocoat Durogrit will be your safest and best option. As with any oil-based stain applied to teak, the surface needs to be clean and lightly sanded to open the pores. A stiff brush may also work. Our Rubio Monocoat Exterior Wood Cleaner works well, too.
Question: What type of oil is in this product?
Answer: DuroGrit is Rubio Monocoat's latest technology advancement made with zero VOC linseed oil.
