Bamboo is porous and reacts to moisture just like wood. If there is too much moisture, it can warp. If there is too little, it can dry out and crack. All bamboo countertops (and wood countertops for that matter) must be properly sealed on all sides: top, bottom and edges. Either use our AFM Naturals Oil or use AFM Polyureseal BP. Both will seal the surface and protect from excessive moisture or dryness.In addition, 30-60% relative humidity must be maintained in your room along with 55-85 degrees F temperatures. This applies to all furniture, cabinetry, flooring, plants, pets and humans. If necessary, purchasing a humidifier or dehumidifier will certainly be helpful.
