Tesoro Woods Brushed Patina has an oil-based finished which is water-resistant but not water-proof. It will require routine maintenance every year or two. If you have children and pets, we would recommend a tougher floor with a UV cured acrylic polyurethane finish. Tesoro offers a number of other options as does Kahrs.However, if only a few people occupy a home and you don't wear shoes inside, it would be perfectly fine.
