The product is highly water-resistant and the adhesive creates a moisture barrier underneath. So under normal conditions ( spills being cleaned up in a timely manner it will be fine) The only issues that may arise are flood related ( if a water heater, dishwasher, washing machine were to have a major leak than there could be potential damage caused by the water.
