Question: Do the tiles come in 9"x9" anymore? Im redoing bath that had 9x9 already and have loved the way they look and clean!
Answer: None of the Marmoleum Click Seal tiles we sell come in 9"x9". 12" x 12" is the standard square size. The smallest Marmoleum we have is Marmoleum Modular Glue-Down tiles that come in a 10" x 10" size.
Question: Is this feasible if floor is concrete?
Answer: When you go to the actual product page, the specs at the bottom of the page state, "Use On Material Concrete, Wood: Subfloors ". Read the installation instructions which tell how you should prepare the concrete: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... .
Question: what is rating for scratch resistance?
Answer: Here's a link from our website to our the technical data sheet for more details: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Regarding the recommendation to install Marmoleum Click loc around appliances and cabinets- would that apply to a washer dryer in a small laundry room or a toilet in a small bathroom?
Answer: Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal can be installed underneath a toilet but we don't recommend under the washer/dryer due to the excessive vibration.
Question: How does the marmoleum click work for a gym floor in a basement?
Answer: There are varying versions of what a "gym floor" could be. It is best to call in and speak with someone about this at 641-323-6108. (It is not just a black-and-white yes/no answer)
Question: I know the Marmoleum has no added formaldehyde, but the click loc has an HDF core. Does the HDF in the click loc contain added formaldehyde?
Answer: Formaldehyde is found naturally in wood, so since that HDF core is a wood based product, there will be traces of it present. Unnatural (urea) formaldehyde is what most customers are concerned with as this would have to be added to the material. Forbo products will not contain any urea formaldehyde. Including the HDF core.
Question: Is your Marmoleum Click Lock product the same quality whether purchased from an independent dealer or a big box store?
Answer:
To our knowledge, anyone who sells Forbo Waterproof Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal is selling the same thing as us.
But we can't speak to how stores other than ours work, so they may be doing/selling something else.
Question: Have you received feedback regarding product durability in a home including a wheelchair-bound adult?
Answer: From a surface wear/durability standpoint, there wouldn't be an issue. The only concern with using Cinch Loc in this type of application would be in ensuring the subfloor is within the flatness requirement of 3/32" in 6' span. If there were to be any high or low areas in the subfloor this, combined with the continued vertical movement of the tiles when the wheelchair would be moved over the seams, can result in the locking mechanisms being jarred loose or potential damage to the locking mechanism itself. If there are inconsistencies in the subfloor, using one of the glue down products would be a better option.
Question: If we are putting in the Marmoleum Click flooring in a 2 color chevron pattern using panels, how much of each color do we need? 50/50?
Answer: This product will not work in a chevron pattern with panel planks. Everything must click side by side, not at an angle. To do a chevron pattern you would need to use the square tiles.
Question: Already have linoleum from 1978 on porch and kitchen. It is cracking from nail heads in some places so would like to get this taken up and replace it with sheet Marmoleum. Is this a good idea?
Answer: Based on what you are stating, it sounds like there are some issues with the subfloor. If the nail heads are coming up and causing cracking, then you are likely getting some movement in the subfloor. This would need to be addressed before any new flooring is installed. You'll want to reach out to a good contractor and have them check into it.
Question: Is marmoleum click suitable for use in a garage where a car will be parked on it for a few months out of the year?
Answer: We sell no products that are to be used in a garage that has an auto parked on it.
Question: I'm not afraid of colour. My walls are mint green and gray on top. Any suggestions for colours of click flooring?
Answer: That is really a personal preference for each person. Order the samples box to see the colors and lay them next to the wall and see what sparks you.
Question: Hello! Is the tile finished with a sealant, or is the linseed oil the final coating? Our house has a flax allergy and I'm wondering what the exposure to the linseed would be. Thanks
Answer: All of the Marmoleum sheet, tile or Cinch Loc Seal click products are sealed with TopShield Pro which is an acrylic sealer. We offer samples for personal testing of your own tolerances.
Question: I'm going to need about 2000 sq ft of Donkey Island (1x3) for an installation in 12 months. Do have any info whether this color is going to be discontinued? If not, how much notice are you usually given regarding discontinued colors?
Answer: We have not been informed of any recent discontinued colors.Call when it's closer to the time and we can check in with Forbo to see what they have in stock. Stock levels can change from day to day, so we can't estimate what the stock levels will be 12 months from now.
Question: Hi: what is the whitest tile? thanks ????
Answer: It's best to order small samples to see in person. None of them are true white as the natural Marmoleum is made with linseed oil which has an amber tone. They can't "bleach" that away. Barbados is an ivory type color, in person, and is usually used as the "white" in a floor. Ordering the small sample online will allow you to experience that.
Question: We have dogs who have a hard time walking on slick floors. Is your flooring texturized to help with traction? We are looking for non slip.
Answer: Sorry, none of the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal panels or squares have a texture. However, they are naturally slip resistance and pass all the coefficient of friction tests for schools and hospitals. Unfortunately, there are no slip resistance tests for dogs that we know of. It won't be much different from a normal hardwood floor.
Question: Can I use the newly waterproof floating marmoleum floor on my screened in porch?
Answer: Marmoleum floors are intended for interior use only
Question: Applications for stairways?
Answer: Yes, this can be done on stairs. You will need to purchase a stair nosing from Versatrim.com or some other vendor as Forbo does not make them.
Question: Are the samples full size tiles?
Answer: No, they are not. No flooring samples are full-size of any product, but they are large enough to see construction, color and pattern.
Question: Can I keep the brochures from the sample box?
Answer: Absolutely, you can keep any printed material from the sample box.
Question: Do I have to use an underlayment on top of a concrete floor ?
Answer: When you go to the actual Cinch Loc product page, https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... , it states in the Installation Instructions , https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c..., "All concrete subfloors and subfloors with underfloor heating require a vapor barrier. The edges of the vapor barrier should extend up the walls a minimum of 2". Follow the underlayment manufacturer's recommendations for seaming requirements ". MP Global, Moisture Block or MP Global, QuietWalk Plus - without Antimicrobials may be used under the Cinch Loc.
Question: Can you put this down on top of linoleum that's already there?
Answer: Per the Installation Guide https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... in the Downloads section on the right side of the product page, " Marmoleum Cinch LOC Seal can be installed on any clean, dry, structurally sound subfloor. The subfloor must be flat to within 3/32" in6' (2.0mm in 2 meters). ".
Question: This floor will transition to carpeted stairs heading to the lower floor. Is there a stair nose or some other transition piece? If not, how are stair transitions handled?
Answer: Per the verbiage on the product page, "NOTE 6: Moldings/Thresholds: We recommend Versatrim for color compatible moldings (as Forbo works with them for their moldings). These can be purchased via Versatrim.com at 1-866-200-8132. ".
Question: I am installing waterproof click lock marmoleum in my bathroom. I don't want to ruin the finish, so what do you recommend for a bath mat?
Answer: As a general recommendation, Forbo says that any rugs or mats that will go over Marmoleum Floors just need to have a soft, non-staining backing. This information is normally printed on the label of the rug.
Question: Removed carpet tack strips from concrete basement floor. Besides installing a vapor barrier, is any other prep needed, like painting cut nails in floor?
Answer: The floor will have to be free of "sharp things" like cut nails. They'll have to be ground down or filed off. Otherwise they could cut into the cork backing of the tiles. Follow the install instructions: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...And substrate evaluation : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Does this flooring need to be resealed each year or two?
Answer: In general, no. We do carry forbo floor finish if you ever do need to reseal it.
Question: Can you recommend qualified installers in the ri area?
Answer: The Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal is a DIY product. It is very easy for anyone with moderate skills such as a handyperson. You don't need a high-end professional flooring installer unless there are lots of subfloor issues that must be remedied beforehand. We suggest checking with someone at your local hardware store as they often know many of the reliable tradespeople.
Question: What size are the $1 Samples ?
Answer: Cinch Loc individual samples are 6x6". If you order the sample box of it, you'll just get one sample of the actual Cinch loc and then get "sheet good" samples of all the other colors. Those sheet samples come about 6x9". They have to be the sheet good samples of those colors in order to fit them all in a sample box.
Question: Can I install this floor over existing porcelain tile?
Answer: Yes, you can. As long as your floor is flat and level, you can install Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal over it. You'll need to use a vapor barrier between the tile and Marmoleum. We recommend either QuietWalk Plus or Moisture Block.

Answer: Per the installation instructions https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... , " General Installation Guidelines -- Underlayment (for concrete subfloors or subfloors with underfloor heating) "
Question: Are you getting any of the colors in the click loc 12x12 that are crossed out and not available at this time soon?

Question: Can panels and squares be used together or they don't lock into one another?
Answer: Yes, the panels and square do lock into each other.
Question: I see you have a sample box . If there are certain colors I am interested in where it says on add sample for one dollar, how many samples picks can I put in cart for one dollar each.? Marmoleum cinch click flooring
Answer: You may buy as many individual samples as you like. The box for the Marmoleum Click Seal contains all the available colors of the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal line (as of this writing, 42 colors).

Answer: None of our flooring products may be used in a shower.
Question: Do you have military discount?
Answer: We do not.
Question: Is it possible to see these in "see it in my room" as a checkerboard pattern? (Trying to see Asian Tiger and Seashell together if that makes a difference)
Answer: The GBS "see it in my room" will not work for 2 colors in a pattern. We suggest you order several samples of each color and lay them out in your room to get an idea of how they would look together.Alternatively you could check out forbo's floor visualizer to try patterns, they recently updated to cover new colors: https://forbo-consumers.esignserver3....

Answer: There is no added formaldehyde in the entirety of the flooring.
Question: Is Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc available in Canada?

Question: Is marmoleum click or sheet more waterproof? And if equally waterproof, is click better to install on top of vinyl tiles?
Answer: Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal is a highly functional waterproof, lifeproof floor that comes in 42 vibrant colors and can be used in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, laundry and virtually anywhere inside a home or office. Not only does the Topshield Pro provide better resistance to water, it also provides much better wearability, stain and scratch resistance and ease of cleaning. And, don't forget, unlike laminate or vinyl-type floors, Marmoleum has a through-body color, which makes it repairable, too. Sheet goods do not claim to be waterproof. But waterproof does not mean floodproof or submersion proof. And there are limits as to where it can be installed ex. it can't be around a floor drain/sump pump. Per the Cinch Loc installation instructions : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... "Marmoleum Cinch LOC Seal can be installed on any clean, dry, structurally sound subfloor. The subfloor must be flat to within 3/32" in 6' (2.0mm in 2 meters). "

Question: Is there a Marmoleum product or a similar product that takes grout? I have grouted vinyl tiles in my bathroom. I like the look but want something eco-friendly but not as hard and cold as stone or porcelain tile.
Answer: We do not sell a Marmoleum product, or any other product, that needs or takes grout. Our Marmoleum tiles are either clicked together (Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc) or glue-down without gaps (Marmoleum Glue-Down Tile or Marmoleum Glue-Down Sheet) with no need for grout. You can see the glue-down options here:Tile Glue-Down: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...Sheet Glue-Down: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...

Answer: Marmoleum should not fade when exposed to natural light. It has been tested to and passed ASTM F 1515 for Light Stability by color change.THAT SAID: there is a natural ambering effect that occurs to the product as it oxidizes and normalizes after being removed from the packaging. This brochure spells it out. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can I get a sample of Painters pallet and see some pictures of it in room settings?
Answer: You may order a small sample of it directly on the product page. And click on where it says "Click here for an online floor planner" which will take you there. https://forbo-consumers.esignserver3....
Question: Can this be installed in a boat? Replace current vinyl.
Answer: No, it cannot.
Question: I'm considering the click floating floor for my main floor rambler. Does it require a layer of something prior to putting it down? I'm a little confused on this. Also, I'm seeing that appliances should not be put on top of this floor, rather flooring should be installed around (stove and fridge)???
Answer: You'll want to refer to the Substrate Evaluation and look for the subfloor situation that pertains to your floor: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... . In regards to appliances, per Forbo, they state that, as long as the tiles are clicked together properly, you shouldn't see an issue with moving the appliances over it. However, as a precaution you could also try laying a piece of something like plywood or Masonite and rolling the appliances onto it when cleaning or moving as this would help to distribute their weight more evenly.
Question: for floor 10x12 feet, how many boxes would i need?
Answer: If you are installing a panel floor in a single color*, that's 7 panel boxes (142 SF). If you are installing a square tile floor in a single color*, that's 20 square tile boxes (136 SF).(math below)10x12 = 120 Square Feet (SF)You want to get at least 10% extra for cutting/waste overage, which brings that total up to 132 SF. Panel tile boxes have different SF per box than Square tile boxes. We only sell by the whole box of flooring. *If you are doing a design (checkerboard, basketweave, etc.) this will also influence how many boxes of each color you get and how to calculate the appropriate amount of overage you get.
Question: Can this product be used in a summer cabin which is unheated in winter?
Answer: The manufacturer does not recommend Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc for environments that are not temperature and humidity controlled. However, you could use Marmoleum Sheet or Tile, which can glued down. Please follow installation instructions which are posted on our website. Here are links: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Does a roomba/robot vacuum scratch this flooring?
Answer: As long as there aren't any sharp objects that get stuck in the wheels, there shouldn't be any issues with the Roomba.
Question: How many square feet of each will I need to lay a three color basket weave in a 12x 16 room?
Answer: "Basketweave" has many variations in style/execution. This Old House documented how to calculate for one style using only square tiles, we have a link to that document here (see page 3): https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... Look at the bottom right corner for percentages of tiles relative to each other. 12" square tiles means you are going to have 12 tiles along the short side and 16 along the long side, (192 total if your room is perfectly square, rooms are never perfectly square) - as you are doing a pattern make sure to calculate a minimum overage of 10% for EACH COLOR to ensure you don't run out midway through your patterning.
Question: Can you use glue down tile under cabinets and appliances?
Answer: You will install the Marmoleum Cinch Loc up to the cabinets but not under them. You may install the Cinch Loc under appliances. If you are wanting glue down under the cabinets and appliances, refer to the MCT tiles or Modular tiles under our page for Glue-Down Tile https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: Who lays marmoleum flooring in Austin texas?
Answer: If you are looking for an installer, we recommend a website called https://cfiinstallers.org/ . We have heard many clients say they've used this site with success and found a great installer.
Question: Can the 12" click cinch loc be installed in 45-degree rotated layout?
Answer: Provided that all the tiles and planks are orientated in the same direction, that orientation relative to the walls of the room can be at any angle you want (including 45-degrees), it just will mean extra cutting and extra waste as along the walls you would need to cut the board ends to be 45-degrees and not flat.
Question: Which two light browns work well as checks?
Answer: We are a seller of flooring, not an interior decorator office. As decor styles and color choices are SUPER subjective, you need to make that decision on your own. We do offer tools to help that along. You can rent the Marmoleum Sustainable Samples Box for this flooring, get the samples in your own home and snap them together to find a color combination that works for you. This package is a 10-day rental, and comes with a return shipping label and a $25 coupon off of a future floor purchase with us. If you don't want to rent the above, we do sell individual Marmoleum samples for $1 each. Find the color you like and click the "Add Sample to Cart" button. If you are a little more tech-savvy, you can give the Forbo online floor planner a try. https://forbo-consumers.esignserver3.... You can select from Collection "Marmoleum Click Cinch LOC" and Planks/Sheets/Tiles select "Tiles" and choose your brown colors from the available options to see it simulated in a room scene. Select the checkerboard laying pattern to see that style. Nothing beats seeing the samples in real life, but the simulator might give you a little bit of an idea of what colors look good together.
Question: What is marmoleum?
Answer: Marmoleum is a Forbo branded name of natural linoleum. In short, it is comprised of linseed oil, wood flour, natural pigments, tree rosins, and limestone. It's 100% non-toxic and doesn't off-gas hazardous chemicals, it's naturally anti-static and anti-bacterial, and biodegradable.
Question: I plan to install over stained and sealed concrete on a below-grade floor. Can I add a layer of insulation between the concrete and the Marmoleum? Perhaps something that also has a vapor barrier included to save steps and costs.
Answer: We would recommend you use the MP Global, QuietWalk Plus - without Antimicrobials between the concrete subfloor and the flooring.
Question: Is there a difference in safety ingredients in marmoleum linoleum and the click?
Answer: The Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc is produced of natural linoleum on HDF with a cork layer backing for an ecologically and acoustically sound solution. Refer to the Marmoleum brochure: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I'm looking for a flooring solution for my short term rental (Airbnb) in Wyoming. This is my first winter in the house, and the humidity is constantly reading 24-26%. Although I'd love to offer the luxury of a hardwood floor, a floating Marmoleum floor seems to make the most sense for the dry air, traffic, cleaning, etc. Any experience with Marmoleum in the dry northern Rocky Mountain region? I'm also considering Kahrs engineered, but wood seems very risky.
Answer: Forbo Click Cinch Loc requires relative humidity to be in the ballpark of 30-60% year round. The Kahrs Engineered has this same requirement. Your best bet given the humidity range you are talking about is Forbo's glue-down sheet or glue-down tile.To get technical for a minute, the basic conditions for installation are as follows, per Forbo's technical department."We state that areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed, and weather tight. The permanent HVAC should be fully operational and controlled and set at a minimum temperature 65 degrees F (18.3 degrees C). If this is not possible, the areas should be acclimated and controlled by means of temporary HVAC to the service level conditions expected during occupancy. The temperature and humidity should range from 75 degrees F ? 10 degrees F (23.9 degrees C ? 5.5 degrees C) with a 50% ? 10% ambient relative humidity. These conditions must be established at least seven days prior to beginning the installation, maintained during the installation, and continued for at least seven days following the installation."You can browse our Forbo Glue-Down Sheet options here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...You can browse our Forbo Glue-Down Tile here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: Can this be used in a garage that sometimes gets wet?
Answer: Nope. We would not recommend that. The Click Cinch Loc product has a wood core, and if that wood core gets wet, then the floor will potentially swell and buckle.Depending on the levels of wetness you could consider the Marmoleum glue-down sheet or glue-down tile product. This would be for a garage that does not have vehicles parked in it, we sell no flooring that would stand up to hot tire pick up and the assorted drips of oil and other liquids that come with parked vehicles.Glue Down Sheet:https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...Glue Down Tile: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: It seems that the click cinch loc is best for living/kitchen and bedrooms but I am concerned about using it in the bathrooms. Is it difficult to transition this thicker material to marmoleum sheets in the bathroom?
Answer: There is a company online called Versatrim that Forbo Marmoleum works with for their transition pieces. You will just need to go there to get them and then that transition isn't an issue. Versatrim can be reached at 866-200-8132.
Question: Can the click planks be installed on stairs?
Answer: Yes, with the caveat that they have to be glued down on the stairs.
Question: What is R-Value of Forbo Marmoleum Click flooring?
Answer: For the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Product, the R-value is 0.53 F ft2 h/Btu.
Question: What do you use as transition or trim pieces?
Answer: Versatrim.com offers compatible transition strips of many types. Visit their site, select the manufacturer, Forbo and then the color of your floor. You will then see all the types of molding available.
Question: does it have a canvas/cotton backing?
Answer: Each panel is composed of three-parts: Marmoleum on the top, high density fiberboard from recycled wood fiber in the middle, and cork on the bottom. No canvas or cotton.
Question: I want to use the Marmoleum on a three season porch that is up on Sonotubes. The current substrate is plywood over which an old indoor/outdoor carpet had been laid. We will rip up the carpet and use the plywood underneath. Is there a concern about the fact that the porch is three season and open underneath by about a foot or so? The room is enclosed with large sliding glass doors.
Answer: You will need to use Marmoleum glue down sheet goods https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... and not the Cinch Loc. ?With the area not being temperature controlled on a normal basis, glue down?Marmoleum sheet goods?will be the way to go. You will just need to control the temperature for 7 days prior, all during, and 7 days post installation to allow the material to initially acclimate properly and then properly cure per the general installation instructions?.?https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... (Areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed and weather tight. The permanent HVAC should be fully operational and controlled and set at a minimum temperature 65 degrees F (18.3 degrees C). Question: Can this tile be laid over ceramic floor?
Answer: Yes. Marmoleum Click can be installed on any clean, dry, structurally sound subfloor (including ceramic tile). The subfloor must be flat to within 3/32" in 6' (2.0mm in 2 meters). If you've gaps that do not fall under these parameters, you can use a floor leveler (available via most any box store or hardware store) - follow directions and let your leveler thoroughly dry before installing Click Cinch Loc over top of it.
Question: Can you clean it with mop & bucket of cleaner with water?
Answer: Yes. If you'd like the floor to remain under warranty you should follow the manufacturers cleaning instructions. Floor Care Guidelines are located on the downloads section of the product detail page, to the right of the product write up (direct link included below for your convenience). Most important is you clean with a neutral pH cleaner and do not flood the floor with liquid. Deviating from this may compromise the finish and the floor.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can it be put on a wall?
Answer: This floating click floor is not meant for wall/nail down installation, and not warranted for that kind of use.
Question: we want to put it on our ceiling in 4 season room -480 sq. feet - can it be painted? we would like to put panels up and divided into 4'4' sq. with mahogany beams =?
Answer: If you wish to do flooring on your ceiling, we would recommend nail-down flooring. As this is floating or glue down, it's not going to work.
Question: My wife and I are about ready to make the marmoleum click purchase, I think, haha...watched all the install videos, checked out images, etc etc...My question for today is, when you put the little spacer chips at the edges of walls in during the install-and lets fast fwd to the job being all done, do you REMOVE those spacers, and set in your baseboard/trim/bullnose/whatever you're finishing the edges with? or do those spacers need to stay in?? I ask because, with it being a FLOATING FLOOR, if I remove the spacers, could the floor shift?
Answer: We can appreciate that the instructions on when/if to remove the spacers are a bit vague. After you install the floating floor, YES, remove the spacers before you install your baseboard/trim/bullnose molding. The spacers are there to ensure you get your minimum allowance to allow for expansion/contraction of your floor as it heats and cools throughout the year. As the floor pieces are all clicked and secured together, the individual pieces will not shift on their own.
Question: Can the Marmoleum Click planks be laid down on top of laminate?
Answer: Yes. Provided the laminate is flat, level and stable, you can install the Click Cinch Loc over top of that, no problem.
Question: Which colors/patterns of marmoleum would look good in a log cabin with knotty pine paneling?
Answer: That's a subjective question that can only be answered by obtaining samples and trying then out in your home. We offer samples of all the colors for $1 each including shipping. There is also a room visualizer that will help you see any color in your own room. Click on the green banner at the bottom of each color that says "See it in my room."
Question: Can Marmoleum Click be used directly on top of cement to help create a home gym floor? An elliptical and infrared sauna will need to go on top of it!
Answer: You are going to need to put a vapor barrier between the cement and the Marmoleum click (we recommend Moisture Block), but otherwise you should be fine.
Question: Can I uninstall and use again elsewhere?
Answer: Yes, you may. Just make sure to unclick it carefully so you don't damage the clicking mechanisms.

Question: Do you have the oxidized copper cynch Lock in 12 x 12?
Answer: No. All the striated (striped) patterns, such as Oxidized Copper, are available as 12x36 plank size only within the context of Click Cinch Loc. We also sell other striped patterns/color as glue-sheet goods in the Striato line.
Question: My contractor is wondering if there is a waterproofing substance he can put on the clic cinch loc edges of 5-10 tiles in the shower area?
Answer: Not that we know of. The click mechanism is so tight that any additional coating may cause gaps between the planks which would defeat the purpose. The HDF core is already exterior grade and moisture resistant up to 30 minutes of exposure.
Question: Bathroom measures 26.9 square feet. Based on your calculator is 5 boxes of Marmoleum click tiles enough which equals 34 square Ft?
Answer: Provided your bathroom is square (no curved walls, etc.) then yes, based on your provided measurements 5 boxes of the square tiles should be enough for your baseline 26.9 SF + 10% overage, rounded up to the next box size.
Question: I need only two transition strips in Oxidized Copper can they be shipped soon?
Answer: Neither Forbo nor Green Building Supply sell transition strips. Check out Versatrim.com as they offer them. Look for the Forbo logo and then choose your colors. They do an excellent job of coordinating colors.
Question: Is it flexible?
Answer: Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc is softer than hardwood, and not as soft as cork.
Question: We are planning on installing in-floor heating (mat type over wood floor framing & subfloor) - is this marmoleum compatible or recommended?
Answer: Yes, you can use electric radiant underneath Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc. Be sure to follow the manufacturers directions carefully.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I would like to use this in my kitchen but if I remove the linoleum, is there going to be a difference in the depth/height?
Answer: That all depends on how thick your linoleum is. The Click Cinch Loc is 0.39" tall. IF you'd like something less girthy, we do carry glue-down Marmoleum sheet and tile floors that are closer to 0.1" in height. The reason for the height difference is the Click Cinch Loc is a floating floor that does not need to be glued down, as it is dimensionally stable with layers of wood and cork and contains clicking mechanisms that hold the floor pieces together. The glue-down sheet and tile floors are made of the same Marmoleum but lack the wood and cork and locking mechanism, and thus need to be glued down to the subfloor.Glue Down Sheet Marmoleum: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... Question: what type of vegetable oil is used for marmoleum?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum uses linseed oil from Canada.
Question: Would this because good option for an airstream ?
Answer: Many people use Marmoleum for vintage trailers because it is reminiscent of the era. We would recommend glue down sheet Marmoleum more than floating click cinch loc (glue down sheet is easier to clean, lighter, and better able to handle shifts in temperature and vibration that come with trailer use - which is why it's been historically used for applications like trailers, battleship decks, and ambulance floors.) The glue down sheet products can be reviewed on our website via https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: Hi is that tile ok for bathroom?
Answer: It depends on how wet your bathroom gets.If you are good about cleaning up water spills as they happen, Click Cinch Loc would do just fine in a dry bathroom. For a wet bathroom (dog baths, children, spouses who are big on multiple showers daily, etc.) we would recommend our waterproof cork product [ https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... ] or the glue down marmoleum sheet flooring [ https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... ] as a better fit for your lifestyle.
Question: How much should I factor in for waste in completing the project. 345 sq. Ft?
Answer: We recommend 10% extra: 5% for waste and 5% as an insurance policy for the future.
Question: Are the click cinch loc tiles available in other colors? I have a mid century modern designed kitchen and would like to purchase colors that are more along the lines of aqua/turquoise, pink and a true white.
Answer: Sorry, none of those colors are available in the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc product line.
Question: Do you think it would be possible for me to use this like a portable dance floor (6' x 9') over wool carpet in my home? Thank you!
Answer: Per the Forbo tech department, they said they would have concerns with using Cinch Loc in this type of setting. The trip hazard would be one, but they're also concerned that the tongue & groove locking mechanisms will get damaged/broken as you continue to pull up and then put the tiles back down. They're also concerned that you are looking to lay the Cinch Loc over carpet which would create several issues. The biggest one of those being the cushion of the carpet making it very difficult to properly click the Cinch Loc together. If the tiles were installed on a proper subfloor and left on the floor, the Marmoleum surface would be acceptable to this type of use, though.
Question: How do you finish a joint where marmoleum will meet an adjacent hardwood floor?
Answer: As you see in the Downloads section on the right hand side of the Cinch Loc page, it speaks of Versatrim moldings. Forbo, the maker of the Cinch Loc, works with Versatrim on moldings for their Cinch Loc floors. They have asked we tell people of this company for their coordinating moldings.
Question: Does Marmoleum have a texture or is it smooth?
Answer: Aside of the few that are embossed, yes, it is smooth. Your best bet is to order a small sample of the colors you are interested in. Then you'll be able to see an actual small piece of the floor and know. It is quite matte looking without really any sheen to it, as well.
Question: Can the panels be cut for stairs?
Answer: When installing Cinch Loc on the stairs, you will cut them to use on stairs and glue them to the stairs.
Question: If this is installed over linoleum sheet flooring, is an underlayment required? If so, what is the total thickness of the product installed?
Answer: Underlayment is not required/optional if going over a pre-existing linoleum sheet or other resilient floor. Here's a link to Forbo's installation guidelines for your review.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can you send me a sample of the 12x36 in red plank? It's about 1500 ft.? and is going into a restaurant needs to be anti-slip
Answer: Samples are available for purchase online. Underneath the green "Add to Cart" button is a white "Add a Sample to Cart" button on the product detail page. The Marmoleum Click Samples are currently priced at $1 per sample, and ship for free.
Question: If I use this in the basement and it floods will the floor be ruined?
Answer: This floor is not waterproof. If the high density fiberboard at the center gets very wet, the boards will swell and warp. This would be true of any wood floor, or floor that has a fiberboard center. If you are interested, we do sell a waterproof cork floor. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: I'm interested in buying this product, but there will be a few places that only 1/2 of a tile will fit, such as next to the cabinets. Will I or my contractor be able to customize it to fit? Also we aren't able to remove the baseboards so can I caulk the space between the edge of the marmoleum and the baseboard?
Answer: Yes to both your questions. Be sure to keep the requisite expansion gap (3/8" per side) around the edge of your floor as your caulk. Cutting the floor pieces is easy, you can use a keyhole saw or a jigsaw. The entire installation instruction sheet is located on the downloads section of the product detail page, direct link below for your convenience.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: We have a patio table that takes 15 12" square tiles. We need to replace the tiles after a tree fell on the table during a storm. Is your marmoleum made for outdoor use? Or what would you recommend?
Answer: None of the floors we sell are designed for exterior use, that includes the Click Cinch Loc Tile.
Question: Would this product be suitable as floor in a steam room?
Answer: Absolutely not. The moisture would get into the high density fiberboard causing the floor to swell. You might look into our waterproof cork flooring, or the marmoleum sheet goods https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... (which contain no fiberboard) for your steam room. Or ceramic tile. You want to avoid anything with a fiberboard layer.
Question: Can I use this in a screen room (covered patio with screens)?
Answer: Please call in as this question requires more context. 800-405-0222
Question: Will the color change/fade if exposed to afternoon sunlight? The windows in my condo face west. I have 3M window film on them that blocks 97% of both UV and IR but lets in 50% of visible light. My question is about Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc
Answer: There will be a slight Ambering that occurs when the Marmoleum is exposed to sunlight. This has to do with the oxidation of one of the main ingredients (Linseed Oil). There is a brochure about this natural effect - https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can I get color tiles 24' x 24'?
Answer: Marmoleum Cinch Loc is only available in 12" x 12" and 12" x 36" click together tiles. You could click 4 individual 12" x 12" tiles of the same color together to make a 24"x 24" square of a single color.
Question: Why are there 2 different prices 4.79 and 5.79 / sq foot ?
Answer: The different prices are for the different board size options. The Squares (12 x 12) are $5.79 a square foot and the Planks (12x36) are $4.79 a square foot.
Question: I just finished putting peel & stick vinyl tiles on my sanded wood top kitchen table. Looking for something to put on top as a protectant sealer ?
Answer: We do not have a product specifically for vinyl but Hard Seal is a clear coat that can adhere to some (not all) vinyl products. We suggest buying a sample and testing that it will adhere first.
Question: Hi - I'm interested in the Marmoleum Click Cinch Lock in Bleekerstreet for my art studio. I have a printing press that my husband guesses is about 1,000 lbs. Will this weight load be too much for it? Thanks!
Answer: There is concern with using the Cinch Loc click under this type of machine. The fear is that the weight and how it's distributed will prevent the tiles from being able to properly expand and contract. The Marmoleum Real glue down sheet goods and Marmoleum MCT glue down tiles also have that color. They would both be a safer bet when you have something that heavy. You may order small samples online to see in person before making your final decision.
Question: What size are the samples?
Answer: Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Samples are approximately 6" x 6"
Question: I am assuming that this would not work on steps since it is a floating system. Do you manufacture anything that would work for steps?
Answer: Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc can be used on stair treads as well as risers. We recommend that you glue it down with our DriTac 5500 adhesive. In regards to the bullnose, you can make one of wood or purchase one from VersaTrim.com. Look for the Forbo logo.
Question: How many 12 x 36 tiles are in one box? The drop down menu says a box = 20 square feet. If the tiles are truly 12 x 36 then would it not be 21 square feet or 7 - 12 x 36 tiles in each box?
Answer: There are 7 tiles per box for the squares as well as the panels. Both dimensions are just shy of the sizes given. A box of squares is 6.78 square feet and a box of panels is 20.34 square feet. They are nominally sized.
Question: I want thick underlayment padding underneath my Click Cinch Loc floor. Can I do that?
Answer: We spoke with the manufacturer. The maximum padding you can have is 3mm (roughly 1/8"). If you were to do more than that it would affect the structural stability of the floor and void any warranty claims.
Question: Getting ready to install the Marmoleum Click we received yesterday. In those areas where the panels must be cut to fit around obstructions or can't be angled in, Forbo's instructions call for shaving down the groove side of the panel and to use "wood glue" to substitute for the click mechanism. They don't specify what type of "wood glue." Am I free to use the "Titebond II" indoor/outdoor wood glue that I have on hand? One video that I found recommends using vinyl adhesive caulk, which gave me some cause for concern. Thank you in advance for your response!
Answer: Thank you for you inquiry and it is great to hear that you've read Forbo's installation instructions! The Titebond glue that you have on hand, is just fine to use, we've used it on our flooring projects as well. If you find yourself needing to purchase some wood glue for flooring projects in the future, we carry Kahrs Landobond Adhesive which is a specially formulated non-toxic adhesive designed especially for the expansion and contraction of floating floors. It is exceptionally strong, yet more flexible than most wood glues.
Question: An I install this material directly on concrete in a basement? Is a liner or pad necessary?
Answer: When installing in a basement with a concrete floor, Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc requires a moisture barrier to prevent moisture from coming up and affecting the floor. We recommend Moisture Block for this. However, if you want to add more cush to the floor and more sound deadening you can use our Quiet Walk instead which is a moisture barrier and underlayment all in one.
Question: Can I put marmoleum in my basement? Do I need to put something else over the concrete first?
Answer: Yes, Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc can be put in a basement, provided it is flat and dry. You would use one of the MP Global products as the underlayment; either the MoistureBlock or the QuietWalk.
Question: how large are the samples for marmoleum click cinch loc in both sizes?
Answer: 6" x 6"
Question: I'm trying to choose between using the sheet or the click for a residential art room. I see that the click is water resistant. Would the click be problematic if a bowl of water was spilled but cleaned immediately. Also, the room would have a large heavy solid wood table in the middle. Would the clicks buckle from weight?
Answer: Provided you clean up water spills right away, and your subfloor is level, the Marmoleum Click should work just fine for you. Forbo recommends using spacers under very heavy tables to spread the load under the feet.
Question: When ordering click loc bamboo flooring. When I type in a number in the quantities box does that represent per box or per piece of product?
Answer: The quantities box for all our flooring defaults to Square Feet. There is a dropdown menu selection to the right of the quantity field where you can select number of boxes instead.
Question: If I pick a pattern that is on your site, can you tell me the amount of tile I would need to do that pattern? We have a new house we are moving into, and it will have 18" tile floors throughout. I was told if we use the underlayment, and did the clic tile as a floating floor we could go over the existing tile if it was new. Can the clic tiles be used in bathrooms for flooring?
Answer: Yes, the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc can be used directly over tile flooring assuming it is level/flat and not bumpy. Underlayment such as QuietWalk can be be used but is not required. Please send your plans to info1@greenbuildingsupply.com and we will help you determine the amount of tiles needed. Ultimately, it will be up to you and your contractor to make the final decisions, but we can certainly provide good input.
Question: I live in Australia, do you have a supplier here, of the marmoleum click flooring please?
Answer: Green Building Supply is local to the US. For Australia check out the Forbo's website at https://www.forbo-flooring.com.au and check there for a supplier local to your neck of the woods. Good luck!
Question: Will the marmoleum work for bathroom flooring?
Answer: The Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc has been used by thousands of our customers in bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements for years. The click mechanism is extremely tight so water does not seep in from the surface. However, it can get underneath which is why we recommend using caulk around the perimeter to prevent moisture from getting into the high density fiberboard core.Another option would be to use the Marmoleum sheeting or tile which is glued down to the subfloor and comes in rolls and squares. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A.... A better option is our new Waterproof Cork Flooring, which comes in wood and cork looks and is made with all interior rooms in mind, including bathrooms, kitchens, mudrooms, basements, bedrooms, etc. It is more kid and pet friendly and avoids any potential worry.
Question: I would love a referral to a site where I can see an endless amount of examples of rooms done in marmoleum. Any ideas?
Answer: Check out forbo.com.
Question: How long is the $25 credit that comes with the sample box good for?
Answer: There is no expiration. It is good towards the purchase of any Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc flooring. As long as we sell that product, the coupon will be good.
Question: I'm interested in this product but curious if you can install over existing sheet vinyl. We have original sheet vinyl over 3/4 inch plywood subfloor which has some deflection. Is it advisable to put down a thicker underlayment on top first? We actually had LVT installed over the sheet vinyl with grout but the grout started to crumble immediately. So we have to start over. I'd prefer this product since it's also non toxic. But want to make sure it'll hold up on our existing floors. Thank you!
Answer: Marmoleum Click flooring can be installed on any clean, dry and structurally sound subfloor including vinyl or LVT as long as the floor is flat to within 3/32" in 6'. If the deflection is greater than that, a patching compound, floor leveling compound or new plywood subfloor must be used. Grout is not a structural product which is why it crumbled.
Question: I visited the manufacturer's website and selection 93E5216 (Pacific Beaches) doesn't show up in their room gallery (where you apply flooring to different photos). Are they doing away with Pacific Beaches?
Answer: As far as we are aware, this particular color is still available in the 12" x 36" cinch loc floating planks and the sheet glue down.
Question: I understand that orders over 185 sq feet ship free but I was considering doing one room (160 sq feet) in one color and a small room (50 square feet) in a different color. It would total over 200 sq ft, but I noticed the shipping was not free. Does it have to be all the same tile that equals 185 sq ft to be free shipping?
Answer: Yes, if your marmoleum order is over 185 SF then you will receive free shipping. If it does not reflect that in your cart please call us for further assistance. (EDIT: as of 11/01/2021, this minimum has changed to 250 SF)
Question: Is there any odor to the click loc?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc has a slight odor out of the box which dissipates rapidly once exposed to the air. The odor comes from the linseed oil which has been cured in the factory, but there is alway some slight smell when new or freshly cut. This is an all natural product that contains no hazardous air pollutants. We suggest that you try some samples first to see for yourself. Samples can be ordered from our website directly for $1.00 each.
Question: if water spills on it, will it seep between tiles? I have dogs (labs) who are sloppy water drinkers. I leave the house for hours a a time, and frequently come back to find mini-puddles on the floor. thx
Answer: The seams of the Marmoleum Cinch Loc tiles are extremely tight. We've done tests where we pour water at the seams and let it set on the surface overnight. No water has gotten in between the tiles. If you'd like to test it yourself you could purchase 2 samples of marmoleum and ask that they be interlocking (if you purchase online, write that request in the customer comments). The samples are a $1 each and are refundable if you return them or place a flooring order.
Question: How easy is this product to cut?
Answer: Hello,Click Cinch Loc is extremely easy to work with. You do not need any type of special blade for your saw. Here are some of the following tools you can use to cut it:-Miter saw-Table Saw-Circular saw-Jigsaw I would recommend sticking more with mounted saws as they produce a cleaner, straighterline.
Question: I have a morning room in my old house that also serves as my "dog room". There is an exterior door and so there is often water tracked in from wet feet and paws. Also, old dogs are prone to occasional accidents, stomach upsets, etc. I really don't want to put down more vinyl and would prefer to use marmoleum since it is true to the era of my home and is a "green product". Would that be wise ? If so, should I use click, glue down tiles or sheet?
Answer: Marmoleum is a healthier Eco-replacement for vinyl flooring because it's made with all natural ingredients and contains no added urea formaldehyde and Zero VOCs. With your environment it may be best to use glue down sheet or glue down tiles. Marmoleum sheet and tile are very popular in commercial bathrooms and locker rooms such as schools, hospitals, and office buildings. They are also widely popular in residential kitchens, bathrooms and basements. We generally don't recommend the Marmoleum Click floor in kid's bathrooms or anywhere there is excessive moisture.
Question: We are remodeling our 1966 house and need flooring in the kitchen, bathroom and bar area. We want to maintain the mid-mod style of the house. I like the pictures I see of Marmoleum, but we do not have the time for do it yourself. Can you recommend an installer? And how does this flooring compare in cost to vinyl or linoleum flooring?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum is a natural linoleum made with all-natural ingredients. It is the most sustainable flooring available and is completely different from vinyl, which is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride). Many people confuse the two.Marmoleum sheet and tile require a professional installer and a perfectly flat subfloor. Most anyone with experience in laying vinyl can also install Marmoleum sheet but there are some differences. We recommend that they read the installation guidelines carefully and/or call us if they have any questions before they begin. The cost of the sheet, tile or floating click panels are all more than vinyl but there are many advantages such as: all-natural ingredients, non-toxic with no offgassing of hazardous chemicals, improved indoor air quality, less maintenance required, i.e. no waxing needed, brighter colors, longer lasting--usually 30-40 years vs. 10-15, lower carbon footprint, and biodegradable vs. producing dioxins like PVC when incinerated. We usually consider cost as how much we spend up front to buy the product, but there are always hidden costs and long-term costs to our health and to the environment. While Marmoleum costs more initially, the long term costs to your pocketbook and the replacement costs, as well as to the environment, are much much less. We maintain that Marmoleum is a more sustainable choice, a healthier choice, and a better investment for your money.Check out www.cfiinstallers.org or homeadvisors.com for installers.
Question: I am very interested in installing Marmoleum Click in my kitchen. Do you know if you can install it on top of an existing laminate floating floor?
Answer: Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc can be installed over existing ceramic, vinyl, or types of flooring as long as they are smooth, flat and not bumpy. Marmoleum Click has a tolerance up or down of 3/16 over an 8' span, so if there is too much variation in the subfloor, it may cause the click mechanism to un-click or wear out over time. It is designed for a solid subfloor that is stable and non-moving. If that is true for your floor, then it should work. The worst case scenario is that you might have to remove the laminate floor and patch any dips or sand down any bumps in the subfloor and then re-lay the Marmoleum Click.
