We’ve provided several answers to questions related to Marmoleum Tile - Glue Down , see some other helpful Q&A related to this product.
Question: What size are marmoleum samples?
Answer: 6" x 9"
Question: Is the glue that is used toxic?
Answer: Forbo makes a non-toxic zero VOC adhesive called Sustain 1195. Ultra-low odor that dissipates within a day or two. This is the only adhesive they recommend and warrant for their flooring.
Question: Is it waterproof?
Answer: The product is highly water-resistant and the adhesive creates a moisture barrier underneath. So under normal conditions ( spills being cleaned up in a timely manner it will be fine) The only issues that may arise are flood related ( if a water heater, dishwasher, washing machine were to have a major leak than there could be potential damage caused by the water. Waterproof is not floodproof: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/b... )
Question: do you have to glue the cork underlayment?
Answer: Because it comes in a roll, there is a lot of memory in it as it is rolled out. If you put some weights on it, it will flatten out overnight. It's not required but most people either glue or staple it to keep it in place as you are laying flooring on top of it. Our Taylor Resolute or AFM 3-in-1 are both non-toxic adhesives that can be used. If you are gluing the flooring down on top of the cork, then use the Taylor Resolute underneath and on top. Do not use the 3-in-1 for gluing the flooring down on top.
Question: How much weight is a box of marmoleum flooring?
Answer: The Vivace sheet that you mentioned only comes in rolls. The Waterproof Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal (our most popular DIY flooring) comes in two sizes 12x36 which is 40 lbs. per box or the 12 x 12 which is 13 lbs per box.We also carry a variety of Glue-Down Marmoleum Tile.
Question: It says in that it comes 79" by 16". Is that the only size of sheet flooring that is available?
Answer: Marmoleum Sheet flooring is 79" wide and cut to length for how many square yards you order. One square yard will equal one piece that is 79" wide x 16" long, where 5 square yards will be 79" wide x 82" long, for example. To get the proper length of sheet that you need, check out the Marmoleum Sheet Size Calculator in the downloads section, or here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: why does it say actual dimensions 79" by 33"?
Answer: That would be 2 square yards or 18 square feet. The Striato sheet goods (and all forbo sheet goods) all come 79" wide by whatever length to a create a full square yard. So that's the size you would be sent. You can trim these to fit your job using a straight edge, utility knife, and/or a hooked blade knife.
Question: Can an electric toe kick heater be used with a marmoleum floor?
Answer: These heaters will just be blowing warm air. They won't be coming in direct contact with the Marmoleum, so there shouldn't be any issues if using either a glue down or Cinch Loc format.
Question: Can this is installed over radiant heated concrete?
Answer: Per the Specs section at the bottom of the page, "Radiant Heat-- Okay for use with electric or hydronic radiant heat ".
Question: Hello, what type of rug pad material is safe for use on Forbo Marmoleum? Do latex and rubber stain? Does jute scratch?
Answer: As a general recommendation, we would say that any rugs or mats used on marmoleum cocoa should have a soft, non-staining backing. This information is normally printed on the label of the rug.
Question: can I get this in a 12 foot width?
Answer: No they only come in 79" width (and however long you need).
Question: is this slip-resistant or textured?
Answer: It is not. The best way to know about the surface is to order a small sample online. But there is no texture. It is used in schools and nursing homes as well as hospitals. But anything that gets wet can be slippery .
Question: I'm considering a huge order but really want a sample first. May I get one soon pls?
Answer: You may order a small sample of marmoleum cocoa directly on the product page online or call 641-323-6111 and we can process an order for you. Small samples run $1 each.
Question: will pet urine penetrate the flooring?
Answer: It has not been specifically tested for that. I don't know if pet urine will fully penetrate marmoleum cocoa, but it may certainly stain it, as urine is acidic. You can order a small sample online and test.
Question: What is the difference between Item #12758, Forbo Marmoleum Fresco-Sheet, and Item #133868, Forbo Marmoleum Composite Sheet? They seem to have the same colors.
Answer: The main difference is thickness: Marmoleum Fresco sheet flooring is 2.5 mm thick, while Marmoleum Composition Sheet (MCS) is 2.0 mm thick. The colors are similar, but the MCS is slightly thinner.
Question: How can we transition to ceramic tile? Is there a recommended underlayment that can raise it for a level transition?
Answer: You would have to build up the subfloor to the height you are trying to achieve. This product has to have a solid subfloor to glue to. ( plywood etc. )
Question: I see that Click Marmo is now waterproof. Is that also true of sheet fresco? (Please say "yes." Pretty pleeeease)
Answer: Yes the Sheet goods are also waterproof from the top down and the adhesive that adheres it to the subfloor creates a waterproof barrier underneath.
Question: I'm interested in purchasing this product: Forbo Marmoleum Concrete - Sheet (Item #133926, Model #3757). I only need 5 ft x 3 ft (15 sq feet). What is the correct size to order? Based on the product width of 79", will 3 square yards cover it? Thank you

Question: Are there installation instructions for using this as a kitchen countertop rather than flooring? I've seen it suggested that this is an acceptable use for this product

Question: Does marmoleum glue down 12x12 tile change color with exposure to light??

Answer: Yes, it can be cut easily with a box knife to fit any size you wish.
Question: can I also use this to replace or cover circa 1960's era formica panel walls?
Answer: If it's from the 60s, it's most likely melamine as that's what we had on the walls back then. It's a tricky surface to stick to. So Forbo doesn't highly recommend using their product on that material as it may fail and that is not what anyone wants.
Question: I see Oxidized Copper in the Striato pictures but I can't find it in the color selection! Is it available?
Answer: Yes, it is available. Here's a link: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/F...

Question: Is there a color chart so I can match my floor? It was installed 25 years ago and still going strong except for a gouge from a dishwasher installation.

The permanent HVAC should be fully operational and controlled and set at a minimum temperature 65 degrees F (18.3 degrees C). If this is not possible, the areas should be acclimated and controlled by means of temporary HVAC to the service level conditions expected during occupancy. The temperature and humidity should range from 75 degrees F ? 10 degrees F (23.9 degrees C ? 5.5 degrees C) with a 50% ? 10% ambient relative humidity. These conditions must be established at least seven days prior to beginning the installation, maintained during the installation, and continued for at least seven days following the installation. "

Question: On a small floor can mcs be loose laid ?
Answer: ABSOLUTELY NO, it cannot. None of our glue-down sheet flooring products can be loose-laid.

Question: our marmoleum is 20 years old. I found the color palette and it is Caramello 766. That color is not listed. Which color should I use?

Answer: We do not have a specific leveler to recommend. You may reach out to Forbo tech directly.
Question: Can you put this in a bathroom? Is it 110% waterproof?

Question: Can you recommend an installer near Clearwater, FL?
Answer: We do not know of installers around the country as we are just one retail location that happens to sell this product. However, many clients around the country have told us of https://cfiinstallers.org/, have used it and have had great success.
Question: Why did paste shrink when applied to the seam?
Answer: That is a question that will need discussion. Please call 641-323-6108 to discuss.
Question: Looking at Sheet Marmoleum (115 yr. old home). Subfloor is 3/4" tongue & groove boards. In order to bring the floor to the same level as the rest of the house I plan to cover with 3/8" plywood and a 1/4" layer of underlayment before the Marmoleum. I've spoken to installers and reviewed docs on Forbo's / your website and I see what NOT to use, nobody tells me WHAT to use for underlayment. Installer Suggestions : Luan (not recommended) or 4x4 OSB panels (definitely not recommended) or 1/4" sheets of sanded one side plywood with Ardex feather finish to fill/level seams (is that doable?). I don't know who to believe, tell me exactly what should be used, so I don't get any seams telegraphing or problems with installation. (I'm in Canada btw.)
Answer: Per Forbo tech, a minimum 1/4" thick, Grade A plywood is what would need to be used in a situation like this.
Question: Would you recommend the sheet flooring vs the click panels for installing on stairs? We have a small landing and basement staircase we'd like to redo with Marmoleum, and we are hoping to install ourselves. If you have advice about adhesive, sealant, and underlay (if needed for sheet installation), that would be great! Thank you.
Answer: If you are using Marmoleum linoleum on stairs, it is best to use the glue down sheet goods. The Cinch Loc can be a tripping hazard, as you'll be having a 3/8 inch "edge" on each step from it, and also you'll then have a very unfinished edge standing out. Using the glue down, it won't be a trip hazard and you won't have a big, open edge to contend with. Please follow the glue down sheet goods application method for stairs , https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c.... You'll find that on page 3 of the document.
Question: I WANT TO MATCH AN OLDER RED MARBLE FOR SOME REPAIR. DO YOU HAVE VINTAGE COLORS?
Answer: We've got all the colors available on the website. If you are trying to match/compliment existing decor, we strongly recommend you order some samples to find the best fit. All our Marmoleum samples are $1 each with free shipping.
Question: Will there be seams?
Answer: Marmoleum is 79" wide by any length. If your room is wider than that, then a seam will be required. This is normal and any good installer can produce a very tight fit. We also offer a waterproof seam sealer called Marmoweld for any small gaps.
Question: Hi! We have click type marmoleum that got water damage and mold in an area. Can we pull up just a 5 foot area and install the roll flooring? Will it be the same height? Do I need to cut and replace the underlayment? Thank you!
Answer: Sure, but the sheet is only 1/8 inch vs 3/8 inch for the click. You will need to add 1/4 inch plywood underlayment. And yes, you will need to remove the existing underlayment before replacing with the 1/4" underlayment.
Question: I have a concrete floor base. I would like to have a softer surface in my bathroom and I am considering marmoleum. Can you put some type of padding on the concrete floor base, under the marmoleum to give it more cushioning effect? (I had surgery on my foot.)
Answer: Marmoleum sheeting must be glued to a concrete or plywood subfloor. It cannot be glued to any type of cushion. If you you need more cush underfoot, consider using our floating waterproof Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal which has more cush due to the cork backing. You could also consider gluing down our Waterproof Cork flooring which will be the softest option.
Question: What is the thickness of the Forbo material here?
Answer: Per the specs section at the bottom of the page, "Thickness 2.5mm".
Question: Can you put it over drywall? For wall/backsplash type covering?
Answer: Here is their backsplash brochure : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... And Forbo has these instructions for a vertical application:https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: hi, Can I install over painted countertop?
Answer: When applying Marmoleum sheet to a countertop, you need to use their adhesive called Forbo, L910W, Wall & Countertop Adhesive. However, this adhesive should not be applied to a painted surface. You would need to sand the paint off the countertop in order for it to properly adhere.

Answer: You will want to follow their instructions for use page. https://772072.app.netsuite.com/core/...
Question: Would you recommend this product in a bathroom?
Answer: Yes, this is one of the most common locations for this product. It requires Sustain 1195 adhesive which is non-toxic and highly water resistant. No problem here as long as you follow the manufacturers directions.Substrate evaluation guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...Installation instructions: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...There are also several YouTube videos online.
Question: I am looking for flooring that won't hurt my feet. I have tile now and would love something easy on the feet like carpet. Would this be an option?
Answer: Most people I've heard of, in this case of sore feet/knees etc, use the Cinch Loc click together flooring, https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/F... , as it is the Marmoleum on top of a soft cork base, or cork flooring, https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/All-Products/Flooring-Cork?&search_quer
y=all%20products%20%3E%20sustainable%20flooring%20%3E%20cork%20flooring&fil
ter=Category_fq:%22Cork%20Flooring%22&rows=44&view=grid&start=0 , in general. They tend to be the "softest" of the hard floors and give a comfort that wood, bamboo or tile can't give. Order small samples online to see and feel in person first.
Question: Can the tiles be cut to custom sizes? (At home- without compromising structure?) Looking to duplicate a vintage pattern but would need smaller squares.
Answer: I have seen pictures where people cut it, oh so carefully, and create a pattern. But I would imagine you'll need to be patient and slow with the cutting because there's no room for error. I'd suggest you order some samples and see what this product is like to work with, cutting, joining, etc.
Question: Which linoleum do you recommend for a rv floor? Do you need anything on top of the floor?
Answer: Any of the marmoleum sheet or tile may be used in an RV. The main requirement is to apply Forbo's Sustain 1195 adhesive during normal room temperature and not in colder temps.
Question: Who installs your Forbo Marmoleum around Indianapolis, IN?

Question: I saw samples that looked like red oak or light walnut. I do not find them in the click floating samples. Do you have them for click together floating installations?
Answer: You maybe saw the Striatos in the Modular. Those only come in glue down sheet goods or those Modular tiles. There is the Water Resistant Wide Plank Hardwood Flooring from Kahrs, Life or the Waterproof Cork Flooring - Wood Look that you may be interested in.
Question: if I use this to cover countertop, can it be removed without damaging the existing countertop?
Answer: No. The glue that is needed for applying it will hurt the existing countertop if you later try to remove it. And you cannot free lay it.

Answer: 10 x 40 is available in some colors, not all. If it's a stripe design (these are the ones that look closest to wood, such as Welsh Moor) then it's available in this size.
Question: Is the surface of this product textured like stone?
Answer: No, it is not. Forbo Marmoleum Slate - Sheet goods have a look of slate/stone and you can feel a tiny amount of texture on them. Order small samples online to see and feel in person for sure.
Question: Is the adhesive toxic?
Answer: Sustain 1195 is a no VOC adhesive which is as safe of an adhesive as you can get. No isocyanates, formaldehyde, or any other hazardous air pollutants. If you want no adhesives, check out our Marmoleum Cinch Loc Seal that snaps together side to side with nails or glue.

Question: What kind of gap filler should I get for Mct Forbo marmoleum tiles?
Answer: Your best bet would be to call in and speak to one of our knowledgeable ecoadvisors at 641-323-6111. We need more details on your project before coming up with a suggestion.
Question: I have vinyl plank flooring. I'm sure it's toxic. Shouldn't I remove it before I install sheet Marmoleum? And what should I put down as a subfloor?

Room conditions must be normal otherwise and definitely not for outdoor use or extreme conditions.
Question: how many tiles come in a box ?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Real is a glue down sheet goods product that comes 79" wide by whatever length to a full square yard. So they are not tiles. If you are wanting click together/floating tiles, you would look at Waterproof Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Seal. Question: May I please have a recommendation for an installer in Toronto, Ontario, Canada? I have tried and tried and tried. No one wants to install.

Question: II have a summer cabin with 70+ year old linoleum. I want to purchase and have Marmoleum installed. The plan is to leave the existing linoleum in place and prepare it for installation of the new flooring on top of it. The cabin experiences temperatures between -30 and +100 degrees Fahrenheit. Can you share information about performance of Marmoleum installed in that way in that environment?
Answer: Forbo does not recommend applying new over old linoleum. Better to remove it first. That's in part because the older linoleum typically has wax and other sealers on the surface that will make it difficult for the new product to adhere properly.Forbo recommend their waterproof Marmoleum Cinch Loc Seal that is much easier to install without glue or nails. It clicks together side to side and has an extremely tight seam. Non-toxic and comes in 12x36 panels or 12x12 squares.
Question: Which was does the "grain" run on Marmoleum Piano 3607 grey dusk- the length of the sheet or the width?
Answer: The grain runs with the length.
Question: Hi, I had a question and also feedback on our great experience with Marmoleum click installed back in Spring 2021. We did a kitchen, bathroom, laundry room at our cabin in Marmoleum click and it's great and we would recommend. My current question is whether click or MCT would be the best option for the kitchen in our home. My concerns are that we have painted plywood in our kitchen/laundry/bathroom and we would need to have appliances on the Marmoleum. Also, we used Barbados and Black in our cabin which was a great combo with old pine walls but not great with our yellow and white kitchen. Thinking that White Marble in MCT might be better (white is Swiss Coffee). Can we put MCT down if the floor has been painted and has some rough areas?
Answer: There are so many points here that it would be best for you to call in to 641-323-6111 for assistance. It will be easier having a conversation by phone.

We have been planning to rebuild and installing hardwood flooring but I feel the finish on the hardwoods won't hold up with the sand that gets tracked in. Will marmoleum will resist scratches better than hardwood flooring?
Answer: In descending order of hardness from HARDEST to SOFTEST floors.HARD Concrete/Ceramic/Porcelain Tile Strand Bamboo Hardwood- Adding a spacer here because there is a big gap between Hardwood and Marmoleum -MarmoleumCorkCarpetSOFTHardwood would stand up to small children better than Marmoleum, with the added benefit that you can sand and refinish a beat-up hardwood floor once the children are not-as-small. Hardwood is perhaps the most "refinish happy" product above. We've got samples of all the floors we sell. Order a few to get a feel for how tough or not-tough they are.

Question: Is it commercial grade? I use a rolling stool in my kitchen and shredded standard linoleum, chipped corners and joints on purgo.
Answer: Marmoleum sheet products are certainly commercial grade, as they are used in hospitals, malls, and schools. Although durable, they are not immune to damage caused by sharp objects. We suggest furniture pads or floor mats to prevent this from occurring.

Answer: No. None of our "flooring" products can be used in a shower.
Question: Are we able to use Marmoleum on the back stairs and landing leading to the basement (treads and risers)? Would tiles be our best option? What type of edging do we need?
Answer: Marmoleum tiles can be used, but the sheeting is a better choice for treads and risers. For edging, neither Forbo nor Green Building Supply provides coordinating edging. We suggest going to Versatrim.com>order online>Forbo>choose your color>choose your stair nosing. Use Forbo Sustain 1195 adhesive.
Question: I need a 79" x 60" rectangle for my van floor. "Square yard" or "square feet" purchase options can be cut in many configurations, but I need exactly 5 feet from the full-width roll. How can I order that?
Answer: Forbo only ships out in full square yards. Your size equals 3.66 square yards. You'd need to order 4 square yards and then cut the extra length off yourself.
Question: Could I make this into tiles by cutting it? I'm looking for a dark green tile to do checker with petrol but there are no dark greens in the tile format available...
Answer: It's not recommended. Any degree of inlay or cut application is expert contractor grade of project.
Question: In the embossed/slate tile is the embossed pattern the same on every tile? If not does anyone know how many variations there are before it repeats?
Answer: Marmoleum Modular Tiles with the embossed, slate look come in boxes with random variations. There is no specific number of variations before it repeats. Because they are tiles, you have the ability to lay them out in a way that looks best to you.
Question: What if it gets scuffed? How do you get rid of scuffs? How about cat claws on this floor - can a cat make scratches on it by running and, as my kitten likes to do, slide into third base while chasing a sunbeam or a feather?
Answer: Follow their repair document found on the right side of the page under Downloads. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: i have a round table that is a 48" wide and was trying to not have a seam. can i order a special cut?
Answer: Walton comes 79" wide by whatever length. You will get the size you order and you'll have to cut the shape yourself as they do not do any special cutting at Forbo before they ship it out.
Question: How can I get a 1x2 yard piece? I only need two of these. My intention is to put them on my bathroom wall.
Answer: Per the Specs on the bottom of the product page, "Width 79" ". You have to order that width, which is about 6.58 feet wide, by the length you want. Then you'll have to cut it to the size you need when you receive it.
Question: I want to use the bluemoon version (#3249) and am looking for complimentary linoleum that has the exact blue in it to use as well. how can I find out what that exact color is and what other products use it?
Answer: Forbo doesn't have a list of complementary colors for each of their products. You'll just need to look and see what other ones your interested in that might work and order samples to see in person. That's the way to know.
Question: If I use this product (Marmoweld ETU) during installation of my floor and have leftover product (which I would - I'm only covering ~800sf, so there will be only a few seams), could I then keep the leftover product for future gouges/small damage repair? How long would this product last sitting in my non-climate controlled garage/storage shed?
Answer: Marmoweld ETU must be stored indoors only at temperatures between 65 - 95 degrees. Never allow it to freeze. You should tightly cap the product, and seal where the cap meets the bottle with tape to make it airtight. Or, you could put plastic wrap over the top of the open container, then put the cap over that. If airtight and temperature controlled, it may last one year.
Question: I need one square yard . Not using for flooring , It could be cut in half . Won't spend 250.00 shipping for 40.00 of product . Could I buy bigger samples ? Or is there a store in zip 86303 where I could buy some ? Item #12746Model #CP-3030 is what I want .
Answer: This amount of marmoleum could be shipped ground, you would have to call in to place the order. Shipping will still be upward of $99.00. We only have the one showroom in Iowa.
Question: I have stair treaders with 80+ year old linoleum on them. They measure 9.5" x 37". Do you offer a 40" long tile in donkey island that I could use? I'm not clear on what ??nominal' means in the description.
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Modular tiles are only available in a 10x10 or 20x20 Modular tiles. The only way to accomplish that 37" width would be to purchase Donkey Island in the sheet goods and cut to size. The sheets come 79" wide so you could cut it in half and have little waste for your project. Adhesive that is required is Sustain 1195 which comes in gallons and cover 125 SF.
Question: Regarding the Click Cinch Loc flooring, I was lead to believe that it should not be installed under a stove or refrigerator, if so how is the installation completed in these areas?
Answer: There is no weight limit for items sitting on top of Marmoleum Click cinch Loc Seal. That means, Cinch Loc Seal can be placed underneath refrigerators, ovens, washing machines, driers, free standing kitchen islands, exercise machines and furniture. If the exercise equipment is moving on the floor like elliptical machines as they move back and forth constantly and may separate the panels. Also, Islands that are screwed down, kitchen cabinets that are not free standing should not use Cinch Loc Seal underneath them. The panels should be placed 3/8" away from the toe kick with a quarter round or base shoe covering the gap.Forbo also recommends using a sealant underneath the outer lip so moisture cannot get underneath the panels or squares. If you have further questions, please call 800-405-0222.
Question: Can I buy rolls of linoleum? I do not want vinyl I do not need Marmoleum
Answer: Marmoleum is a brand of natural linoleum. It comes in rolls that can be cut to size. The width will always bee 79" wide but the length can be any dimension up to 110 linear feet. There is a sheet size calculator that will help you: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I have a camp. It is not occupied in winter and the temp can reach -25 F. During the rest of the time it will get mud and some water on it. Will it hold up?
Answer: It will work with conditions. Per Forbo, they state that areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed, and weather tight. Then follow the regular installation instructions and, as long as those are all followed, the sheet glue-down goods work well, even if well after the installation you see changes to temp and humidity well beyond that installation range.
Question: How do I know I've picked the correct color? How much does 8oz cover?
Answer: Under the #1 dropdown, it says Select Color. Click on it to find your Marmoleum flooring color. The spread rate for this product, an 8 oz. jar will last you approximately 1,000 Linear Feet in seam fills (1mm / 1/32" seams)
Question: How flexible are the tiles? We currently have vinyl tiles laid over the top of asbestos tiles using some kind of cheap stick-on method like double-sided tape. My plan is to pull up the vinyl tiles and replace with marmoleum tiles (over the top of the old asbestos tiles, without disturbing them). However, our old house is very crooked and the floor has lots of waves etc in it, and the new tiles would need to flex a bit to conform to the shape of the house. If it's totally rigid tile I don't think it would work. This is a floor that spans a small kitchen and a bathroom.
Answer: There are concerns with this one. For glue down material, the subfloor needs to be flat to 3/16" in a 10 ft span as per ASTM F 710. If the current condition, once the peel and stick tiles are removed, would not meet this then you would need to do some leveling before the subfloor would be within spec to receive a new glue down product.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Is there a plain white tile?
Answer: Marmoleum can't be pure white as it's made with linseed oil which is an amber color. And they can't bleach that out to make it white. So there are very light/"whitish" tiles, but not pure white.
Question: Would marmoleum be a good choice throughout a home with plywood subfloor atop a crawl space, high summer humidity?
Answer: Just follow the installation guidelines https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... and the substrate evaluation https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... (which tells you how to prep the floor and the condition it has to be in) .
Question: I only ask this questions because I am having trust issues with other vendors and I already know I can trust Green Building Supply... Do you sell anything that I can use on shower/bathtub walls? The tile world is scary out there in terms of safety. Thank you!
Answer: Thank you very much for the vote of confidence! We do carry some things (like grout sealers and non-toxic cleaners) - so a lot depends on the unspoken details of what you mean when you say "...anything I can use on shower/bathtub walls" Are you looking to seal something or clean something or adhere something? Or building a structure from scratch? You can send us more details on our contact us page https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... or we are happy to take your call at 1-800-405-0222.
Question: how is this product with dogs and high traffic? We have put in a Mannington Audra floor and it is garbage! The top wore right off, the dirt sticks, I hate it! I need something for a kitchen, big dog, 3 kids, kitchen is high traffic area
Answer: Marmoleum sheet would be the most durable out of the Marmoleum options. It has been used commercially in hospitals, schools and malls too. It is not scratch proof but can be repaired. Another flooring option that is highly durable would be our GBS Bamboo flooring. It is the strongest wood available and can withstand high traffic as well.
Question: Thinking of using click tiles on screened porch in checkerboard pattern. Will that work?
Answer: A screened-in porch would be considered an exterior application and is not meant for that. We sell no exterior grade floors.
Question: What types of substances and chemicals are used to create the TopShield Pro finish? I like the linoleum and understand it's non-toxic and doesn't contain any plastic. But what does the surface that we touch contain? The finish would be on the surface.

Question: What do you recommend for an underlayer to the mct flooring?
Answer: This glue-down tile can go over a variety of surfaces. Please follow the recommendations on the installation guide:https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...and the substrate evaluation guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... .
Question: If I need 10 linear feet, how should I go about ordering? Are they a set 79" wide or can I get a custom width? Thanks!
Answer: There is not a custom width option. This collection of Marmoleum only comes 79" wide. You will need to measure the length and width of the area you are needing to cover. If the length and width are bigger than 79" then you will need to account for a seam which may change the amount of marmoleum you need to order. Sizing chart: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... call one of our Eco Advisors to assist you when ordering, as the sheets need ordered in square yards. We can be reached at 1-855-496-0828 or 1-888-727-2101, Monday - Friday 9AM-5PM CST.

Answer: Forbo Marmoleum sheet is sold by the square yard. It comes in a roll 6.6' wide. The closest length you could purchase is 5.5 ft long which equals a total of 4 square yards. Marmoleum sheet requires professional installation using Forbo Sustain 1195 Adhesive. Please call us if you are interested in placing an order and we'll be happy to help you.
Question: Want to install Marmoleum in a small bathroom in a vintage Airstream. Would Click be best?
Answer: Glue down tile/sheet is actually best and not the Cinch Loc. Per Forbo, "We state that areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed and weather tight. ". Follow the glue down tile or sheet goods instructions per the product page.
Question: Can I buy a small amount for accents?
Answer: You have to buy it in full square yards. Here is the square yardage chart to show you the length it will be for each piece. All sheet goods come 79" wide. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I have Marmoleum Blue Heaven #3828 in my bathroom and a contractor gouges a piece out of it. Is there a way to buy a small piece of this tile for repair?
Answer: Based on the size of the gouge, a small sample may work (these are available on our website for $1 each, sheet good samples are approximately 6" square). We suggest looking at Forbo's repair videos on our website or YouTube.
Question: Can any other adhesive be used or must it be the Forbo branded adhesive?
Answer: The manufacturer's installation guidelines specify using Forbo adhesives for Forbo Marmoleum glue-down flooring. Forbo's warranty will not cover flooring that has not followed their installation guidelines.
Question: How do I clean it?
Answer: You'll want to sweep up any dust or debris on the floor and then with a damp mop use any neutral pH cleaner. (Forbo makes a neutral pH cleaner.) You can use any cleaner that has a neutral pH.
Question: How big is one sample of sheet marmoleum?
Answer: Samples of Marmoleum sheet are 6" x 9".
Question: Hi. I'm located in Los Angeles. Can you recommend installers? I love the product and want to make sure it looks good.
Answer: If you are looking for an installer, we recommend a website called https://cfiinstallers.org/ . We have heard many clients say they've used this site with success and found a great installer. (as we are located in Iowa, we don't have a clear view on Los Angeles installers)
Question: We have a small mudroom ?? 6 x 6 ?? that we will be putting a floor over plywood substrate. I know that marmoleum gets harder with age. Will this work in a mudroom? We will have a rubber backed doormat on top of it.
Answer: As long as it's installed correctly, it will work great in a mudroom. Just follow the installation guide and substrate evaluation. Installation guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...Substrate evaluation: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...As for rugs, as a general recommendation Forbo says that any rugs or mats just need to have a soft, non-staining backing. This information is normally printed on the label of the rug.
Question: Can it handle wheelchair traffic and a heavy person?
Answer: According to the product page, "Marmoleum is called the 40-year linoleum because it's highly durable and long-lasting in both residential and commercial applications. The through-body color hides scratches and is easily repairable. The TopShield finish also protects the surface, making it easy to maintain with a damp mop. ". It is used as a glue down product in many residential and commercial situations, even in nursing homes where wheelchairs are often used. Because the material is glued securely to the floor, it makes for a strong floor covering.
Question: Can you buy the sheet material by the foot length? In other words do I have to buy the full length of sheet or can I just get for example an 8 foot length of sheet?
Answer: Per the Marmoleum Sheet Size Calculator https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c..., order by the full square yard.

If there is a delay based on product backorder, we can discuss with you to work out timelines and alternate options.

Question: Hi! Can you recommend installers for mct tile in Portland, Oregon?
Answer: In seeking out installers many customers have found this website useful: cfiinstallers.org , you can use it to find a reputable installer in your zip code.

Answer: No. We sell nothing that can be used on a garage floor where autos come and go.
Question: I pulled up my rug, the plywood / flooring is even and seams are not snug. Will this flooring work in this area?
Answer: No. If you've any kind of seams and/or gaps you should not install glue-down sheet flooring, as the sheet is not thick enough to hide gaps. You need a completely flat, completely smooth floor for a glue-down sheet installation. If you wanted to keep on the Marmoleum route, you could consider the thicker Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc floor instead.
Question: Does Marmoleum come in pre-cut rugs?
Answer: No. Marmoleum is a smooth surface that comes as glue-down sheet flooring, glue-down tile flooring, and click tile/plank flooring.
Question: I am replacing the flooring in my trailer. I need 3 pieces. One 2.6 x 12 feet. Another 2x2.6 and the last 2.5 x 3. What do I buy and how do I cut it? Thanks
Answer: We sell Forbo Marmoleum Fresco glue-down sheet product by the square yard on a roll. So you or your installer would need to order several square yards and cut out the individual pieces yourself.Be sure to read/have your installer read the installation guidelines and instructions, these explain how to cut, handle, prepare and install this product (and include the adhesives and cutting tools and installation equipment needed). These are featured in the downloads section on the product detail page. If you or your installer have questions, it would be best to call so we can get more information on your project and give you more precise answers. 1-800-405-0222 M-F 9-5 CST.A particularly important consideration for van and trailer installations is to make sure the humidity and temperature range within the trailer/vehicle is maintained before, during, and directly after installation:The temperature and humidity should range from 75 degrees F ? 10 degrees F (23.9 degrees C ? 5.5 degrees C) with a 50% ? 10% ambient relative humidity. These conditions MUST be established at least seven days prior to beginning the installation, maintained during the installation, and continued for at least seven days following the installation.

Question: how do i measure width x length in feet?

Question: We want to cover existing vinyl tile floor that contains 7% asbestos (best not to remove) and it's very flat and solid. We were told it's best to use floating floors on top of existing. We loved Marmoleum Cocoa product (White Chocolate), but it only comes in a sheet. Questions: are there plans to manufacture White Cocoa in a tile form? If not, can a sheet be glued on top of existing tile floors that are very flat and solid?
Answer: As you are angling toward here, yes a Marmoleum Click type floor would go over the vinyl just fine. Sheet good floors, like the Cocoa, can potentially go over existing resilient flooring PROVIDED that flooring is flat, stable with zero texture/embossing and (the potential sticking point) the existing resilient flooring needs to have zero wax/finish on top. For more details see the Substrate and Preparation Guidelines (link below). The adhesive needs to form a good bond between the existing floor and the sheet going over top ... if it can't stick to the vinyl then this makes this a no-go project. There are no plans at this time to offer any of the Cocoa colors in Click Tile form.Substrate and Preparation Guidelines: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can an amateur DIY'er install this product successfully?
Answer: A more DIY floor would be the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc tiles and panels. It's not an impossible task for an amateur DIY'er to install Marmoleum sheet flooring, but any time specialized tools are involved in a task, it does ramp up the difficulty. In the case of sheet goods, there is glue troweling, the 100 lb rollers, and of course, the precision cutting and laying of the material in the particular time frame before the glue sets. If you watch and understand the installation videos and can follow the written instructions clearly, you may be ready to take on this task, but do appreciate it's a lot to take on for your first project.
Question: 70"x 48" how many SQ ft is this ?
Answer: 70 x 48 = 33603360 / 144 = 23.333 Square Feet
Question: I want to do a black and white checkered floor using Marmoleum tiles in my kitchen. I would like for it to be the classic black and white floor with a matte finish and no texturing. Also prefer it to be solid white and solid black with no other colors or flecks. I am not finding any such colors amongst your tiles, and yet this is such a classic floor! Do you make solid black and solid white tiles?
Answer: Sorry, Forbo does not make perfect white due to the linseed oil in the product. Hundreds of people have used the MCT black with the MCT White Marble with excellent results. Once it is installed it looks great. There are images on our website of this. The visuals on the website make it look yellower than it is. You could also try Forbo Modular Tile Black Hole with Stardust.
Question: Will cat urine soak into this sheet linoleum? How water resistant is it? I want it for a room in which my cat occasionally has accidents, and am trying to discern between some pet-product vinyl (not eco-friendly) and this product, which I'd prefer for all other reasons (except that I'm worried it could absorb the liquid or odor of cat urine.
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum is utilized in bathrooms of schools and hospitals as well as residences worldwide without issues of human urine. However, cat urine may be different. As long as it is cleaned up shortly thereafter, it should not be a problem. However, if it sits overnight it may absorb. We offer samples and would recommend that you test with your cat to be certain it satisfies your requirements.
Question: Is it possible to order just four MCT tiles?
Answer: No, we only sell flooring by the box. In the case of MCT tiles that is a box of 54 square feet.Depending on what you are using the tiles for (if you have a smaller arts/craft project for example), you could order sample sizes. Samples of MCT flooring are roughly 6" square.
Question: Can you install over tile?
Answer: You will need to review this document (Substrate Evaluation and Preparation Guidelines) section titled Existing Resilient Flooring. This is included in the downloads section of the product page, direct link included below. In a nutshell, you can install over some types of resilient tile, provided that the tile is stable and flat, has all waxes and finishes removed from the surface, is not textured or embossed, and the tile surface performs well with an adhesive bond test. Please read the document for the complete story.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Hi is Orchid Green available in sheeting?
Answer: Marmoleum Orchid Green is only available in the MCT tile format. However, the Chartreuse (item #28307) is very similar in color and is available in the MCS sheet.
Question: Hello. Is the Marmoleum suitable for a dining room in a restaurant? Is this slippery when wet ie a customer coming in from the rain. Thanks!
Answer: Marmoleum is a very popular product for restaurants (and schools, hospitals, hotels, and all kinds of commercial buildings). If you order a sample and see, the glue-down sheet or tile floor can get wet without it getting slick.A fun piece of trivia, this floor is commonly used on boat decks.
Question: Can you use this product for a shower wall surround?? How about a countertop in a bathroom?
Answer: Marmoleum sheeting would be a better product to use for walls or countertops as there would be fewer seams. Marmoleum has been used in Airstream trailers on walls and countertops for decades and is very popular for this purpose.Using Marmoleum on a wall is more challenging to apply than on a countertop or floor due to the weight and size. You will need several helpers to hold everything in place and a lighter roller like a rolling pin. You will also need the correct adhesive which is L910W Wall and Countertop Adhesive.Having said that, you can use the Marmoleum Modular or MCT tile. It will be easier to install but not be ideal for these purposes.
Question: I'm interested in the materials needed and how wide is the sheet vinyl. Does it need to be heatwelded for seams. Or is there a seam sealer?
Answer: Per the Specs section on the bottom of the product page, it states, "Width 79" " which is about 6.58 feet wide. Follow the install instructions for how to install. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... And you will not need a seam sealer as this is not vinyl. It is natural linoleum.
Question: I am interested in this flooring (forbo MO312) but cannot from your web site tell if there are pieces still available. I need it for a bathroom approximately 10 x 6 ft. There are would be a cutout for a vanity so I might be able to do with slightly less. Is there that much available?
Answer: The Forbo Dutch Design Line of product is no longer available (we keep the item online as a point of reference, it was discontinued in 2013). We do sell other Forbo sheet goods, these are located here on our website: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: Can the composition linoleum tiles be used in a northern camp which is unheated during winter (temperatures well below freezing)?
Answer: Per Forbo tech, they state that the interior areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed, and weather tight. That way, once it's all installed correctly and the adhesive is dry, it may handle the times the temperatures are low and without heat.
Question: How big are the marmoleum samples?
Answer: Marmoleum glue-down sheet goods samples are around 6"x9". Marmoleum glue-down Tile (MCT and Modular) samples are around 6" x 6", which is plenty big enough to see the color and pattern of the floor.
Question: I would like to install a marmoleum product in an Airstream trailer? Looking at a glue down strip and any installation since, finding a installer for a trailer job means I will have to install this flooring.
Answer: You will want to use glue down sheet goods. Because the Airstream won't be heated/air conditioned all year long like a house would, Forbo states that areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed and weather tight. The permanent HVAC should be fully operational and controlled and set at a minimum temperature 65 degrees F (18.3 degrees C). If this is not possible, the areas should be acclimated and controlled by means of temporary HVAC to the service level conditions expected during occupancy (like in an enclosed climate-controlled garage, for example). And then follow the application instructions as displayed in the Downloads section on the right-hand side of the product page, direct link below for your convenience.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can or 96i get this product in a 72"??120" or 96"x 120" in the yellow zest? What would be the cost?
Answer: We sell this glue-down sheet product on 79" wide roll x any length you wish (we sell by the full square yard). So your installer would need to trim down from 79" to 72" if that's the specific width you need. The most up-to-date pricing is on our website. We don't sell "yellow zest" did you mean "lemon zest"?
Question: can i use Marmoleum as a liner in the trunk of my suv?
Answer: Sorry, this product was meant for normal temperatures and humidity on a stable subfloor.
Question: Tile expansion in a building with fluctuating temperatures?
Answer: When applying a glue down product (Forbo sheet goods or glue down tiles) in an interior, non temperature controlled area, the areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed and weather tight. Question: What type of flooring should I use on an included 3 seasons room?
Answer: The glue-down Forbo Marmoleum would be a consideration. We offer glue down tile [ https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... ] and glue down sheet [ https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... ]
Question: Hello from Alberta, Canada. Who sells Forbo Marmoleum products in Canada or do you have Canadian customers who order from your site?
Answer: Your best route is to look for a Canada dealer is through Forbo's Canada website itself. (link below)https://www.forbo.com/flooring/en-ca/...
Question: what sealer do you use for marmoleum?
Answer: All forbo floor coverings come pre-finished.Per the Features section toward the bottom of the page, it states, "Finish -- Topshield ". So no additional finish is needed.
Question: How do I care for my new MCT floor? Should the new tiles be sealed?
Answer: On the right side of the product page under Downloads, there is a care brochure : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...At the bottom of the product page under Features, it states, "Finish -- Topshield ". So no additional finish is needed.
Question: Okay, this will seem like a strange question, I'm sure, but I'm looking for a non-toxic product to do linoleum cuts for art projects. I need to be able to carve into it, ink it and then press it onto paper to print the image. Does anyone know if this will work for that? Is it a smooth surface or textured?
Answer: The surface is smooth, but not sure if it will work for your application. I would recommend getting one of our samples in the Fresco collection to try it out and see if it will work for you. Our Marmoleum samples are $1 each.
Question: Can this be used in a Commercial Kitchen?
Answer: Marmoleum is called the 40-year linoleum because it's highly durable and long-lasting in both residential and commercial applications. Marmoleum Sheet and Marmoleum Tile are very popular in commercial situations such as schools, hospitals, and office buildings. So, if installed properly, it will work. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Do you have a showroom?
Answer: Our showroom is in Fairfield, Iowa. But you may order samples and product online any time.
Question: Can this be used for kitchen counters? Around a sink?
Answer: All the Forbo sheet goods can be used as a countertop material around sinks and cooktops. Forbo recommends to glue this product down using the L 910W adhesive, as it is moisture, mildew, and mold resistant.
Question: can a marmoleum sheet be laid over hardwood floor (no adhesive)? Hardwood is a pain to clean in kitchen?
Answer: No. Marmoleum Sheet needs to be installed with an adhesive, it absolutely does not work like a mat or area rug.
Question: Will this vinyl work for a screened in Porch? If not what do you have that would work for a screened in porch?
Answer: Absolutely not. All the flooring we sell is for interior and climate-controlled surfaces only, none will work on an exterior screened-in porch.
Question: What carpets can the click tiles be put over?
Answer: None of the floors we sell may be installed over carpet.
Question: Which product would be best installed in a weathertight unconditioned porch in Massachusetts?
Answer: You may use these MCT tiles, Marmoleum sheet glue down or Modular glue down tiles. Per Forbo, areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed and weather tight. Then follow the installation guidelines for the particular product you are installing.
Question: Does the color "shell" come in click floating?
Answer: Shell only comes in tile or sheet goods. However, the Shitake is a close color that might work for you.Marmoleum Samples are $1 each, it's always good to order a sample first. You can order these on our website (look for the "Add Sample to Cart" button) or you can phone in your order 1-800-405-0222.
Question: Are there designs like Mexican tile designs?
Answer: No, but you can make your own designs with the MCT or Modular tile or the Click Cinch Loc squares.
Question: I want the whitest linoleum tile you have. Which is the whitest?
Answer: They can't be stark white as Marmoleum linoleum is made with linseed oil which is an amber/yellowy colored oil. They aren't able to "bleach" out that color. Therefore, most of the whites will have an ivory cast to them. The best way to know is to order samples online to see in person and decide from there.
Question: Can Zinnia Piano/sheet be installed directly on kitchen subflooring? We have an approx 11 x17 foot floor with diagonal wood subflooring in a "v" in good shape with some space between the boards.
Answer: We strongly recommend you/your installer read the installation guide and substrate guide to determine if sheet flooring is the best fit for your project - as a lot depends on the specifics of what your new Forbo floor is going over (material, stability, levelness, etc.) Here is the installation guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...Here is the substrate guideline: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: what is the flame spread rating?
Answer: For fire testing, MCT will rate as Class 1 when tested in accordance with ASTM E 648/ NFPA 253, Standard Test Method for Critical Radiant Flux. It also meets 450 or less when tested in accordance with ASTM E 662/ NFPA 258, Standard Test Method for Smoke Density.
Question: Hi I need 130 square feet of the refreshing green 20" by 20" forbo floor tile. Do you have that in stock? Thanks -Gary??
Answer: The best way to check stock (and for us to let you know) is to reach out to us, either via phone call 1-800-405-0222 or message us via https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... so we have a phone number or email we can respond to with that stock information. Sending us an anonymous turnto, like you have here, we can't get back to you with stock levels.
Question: Does it take special skills to install this floor, or can any experienced contractor do it ?
Answer: It is perhaps best for a contractor who knows how to install sheet linoleum. It can be done by an advanced DIYer, though tool rental may be required. We recommend you read the installation guidelines and substrate evaluation to get a sense as to if you are up to the level of installation complexity this floor requires.Installation guidelines: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...Substrate evaluation: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...If you are looking for a more basic DIY-friendly Marmoleum floor, check out the Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc tiles.
Question: hi, do you have kyoto marmoleum sheets or tiles?
Answer: We do carry the color Kyoto as an option for Forbo Marmoleum Glue-Down Sheet https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/F...It is currently not available as a tile option.
Question: How do I strip and re wax linoleum counters ?
Answer: We sell Marmoleum (the natural alternative to linoleum). You may refer to the Marmoleum brochure (see instructions on page 9.) https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: On the Marmoleum sheets, are they custom cut to size? And what's the thickness?
Answer: It works similar to wall-to-wall carpet, we sell this by the square yard on a roll, and the rolls are 6 feet wide. Your installer would cut these down to specific room-size shapes.Thickness varies based on the sheet line: Marmoleum Decibel is 0.14" thick, Marmoleum MCS (Composition Sheet) is 0.08" thick, and the other varieties (Vivace, Real, Slate, Splash, Walton, Concrete, Fresco, Concrete, Piano, Striato, Terra) are all 0.1" thick. While you can certainly use Decibel in a residential setting, it's more intended for commercial/high traffic situations. If you go to the category page for Marmoleum Sheet-Glue Down ( https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... ).Along the left-hand side of the page are filters, you can click these to narrow the displayed results. One of these filters is "Thickness"
Question: What companies in my 06360 area code carry this product?
Answer: We ship nationwide. No one stocks Marmoleum sheeting. It is all drop shipped from the manufacturer in PA. Lead times are about 7-9 working days. Call 800-405-0222 to check stock. Samples are available on our website as well here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/s...
Question: Hi - I can't find the option of white in colors. Thinking of doing black/white harlequin flooring in kitchen. Do you have white as a color option?
Answer: This is a common question and unfortunately it is not possible to make a pure white because the linseed oil turns things a slight amber color. The closest color in the MCT tile is White Marble and Black. These look great together. Open the page and look at the room scenes and you will see how nice it looks.
Question: where is Marmoleum made?
Answer: Per the Specs section at the bottom of the product page, "Country of Manufacture Netherlands ".
Question: Our bathroom is 7.5 feet wide. Would you recommend a seam down the middle or going the long way? How visible are the seams when properly installed.
Answer: It is best to have your installer determine where to place the seam. If properly installed, they are barely visible.
Question: Is there green in the Rosato pattern?
Answer: Our Forbo samples are $1 each, and have free shipping. As appearance and color can shift due to ambient lighting conditions, and color and tone is very subjective, your best tactic would be to order a small sample from our website and see for yourself.
Question: Can the Forbo Marmoleum Fresco be laid down over linoleum?
Answer: A lot depends on the state and stability and flatness of the linoleum you are running over, and what is under the linoleum. Read the installation guide and the substrate evaluation guide for a more detailed analysis of what is required. (both of these are included in the downloads section of the product page, direct links below for your convenience)Installation guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...Substrate Evaluation Guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I am looking to make a checkerboard look of marmoleum tiles in green and white. Do you have anything in white?
Answer: Forbo is a natural product with a marbleized pattern on its tiles, so there is nothing in a pure bleached white. Customers that are looking to create the checker pattern you are talking about opt for a light grey color like Concrete (Click Cinch Loc Tile or Marmoleum Modular Tile) or Alpine (Forbo Marmoleum Composition Tile (MCT)).For pattern making, check out our Click Tiles: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...Or our glue-down tiles: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: What would the cost be at $5 a square foot for a room 10 x 20?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Vivace is 4.98/Square Foot, ships on a roll, and we sell it by the Square Yard.Vivace Rolls come 6.58 feet wide, so your room is going to have a seam either running lengthwise or widthwise.A 10 foot x 20 foot room is 200 Square Feet. This does not include the overage that any installers would recommend (10% is a good overage number for an experienced installer). 200 Square Feet x 1.10% = 220 Square Feet, which is 24.44 Square Yards. As we only sell by the whole square yard, you will need to round up when you order material to 25 Square Yards (225 Square Feet). 225 x $4.98 = $1120.50 for the Vivace itself. Keep in mind sales tax and freight shipping, which will vary from state to state. And do not forget the adhesive (Sustain 1195) that will be needed for proper installation.
Question: Which Fresco colors could be pulled out of Striato Oxidized Copper?
Answer: The only way to truly know would be to order small samples online of the ones you think may and see them in person.
Question: I'm interested in Marmoleum but with a pattern for a vintage kitchen. Does this exist?
Answer: Part of the joy of Marmoleum glue-down tile is you can get multiple colors and glue down a pattern in your kitchen. You can get inspired by the designs on this download from the product detail page (located in the downloads section to the right of the product write-up, direct link included below for your convenience.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Do you sell marmoleum borders? Do they work with snap and click or only marmoleum sheets?
Answer: The decorative borders only work with glue-down sheet goods. For styles and colors, you will need to call in and speak with one of our eco advisors to custom order the design you want in the colors you want.
Question: I need to get the Vivace to replace an area of our rental that was damaged by cat urine. Since I will need to install it myself, I need to glue-down tiles. Is this color of Marmoleum sold in the glue-down tiles?
Answer: Vivace is a line of many colors of sheet goods. It is not tile. You will want to look at Forbo Marmoleum Composition Tile (MCT) for 13x13 inch glue down tiles and Forbo Marmoleum Modular - Tile (in varying sizes which are displayed) to find the colors of tiles that are available. Order small samples online to see that actual color in person before ordering the actual product.
Question: Do you have sheets with patterns?
Answer: No. We only sell what you see on the website, the natural marbleized patterns.
Question: Is this product similar to the forbo desktop linoleum? I intend to use this for desktop and cut using utility knife, which I believe on the forbo is manageable. If you have recommendations for cutting this product manually, that would be much appreciated
Answer: The Forbo - Linoleum, Furniture line does not have any kind of sealer/protectant on top like this Vivace does. This Vivace would actually be stronger because of the Topshield 2 finish/sealant on it. People do use the regular flooring like this very often for countertops.
Question: How is this product antibacterial? Is there an additive that makes it so?
Answer: Because of its 100% natural ingredients - made of linseed, limestone, tree rosins, wood flour, natural pigments and jute- it is naturally antibacterial. There is no added chemicals.
Question: I need a piece of this material that is 12 ft long and 8 ft wide do you have it already?
Answer: We sell Forbo sheet goods, such as the Concrete, by the square yard. 79" wide, so in order to cover a 12' x 8' there would need to be two pieces.12' x 8' = 96 Square Feet, which is 10.67 Square Yards, you would need to round up to 11 Square Yards. We would ship you one piece that you or your contractor would cut as needed to work in the space you have.
Question: Why can't I order a sample of Forbo Marmoleum Real: Violet 3270? I can get samples for all the other colors, but that is the one I think I like best. Is there something wrong with the order sample button on that page. It looks like it's working, but doesn't add anything to the cart.
Answer: It is a very pretty color. Our technical department thanks you for bringing it to their attention, the Violet 3270 sample is now working.
Question: Can a cast iron tub sit on marmoleum?
Answer: The Marmoleum Real is glue down sheet goods, so you may put the tub on top of it. We suggest you put some kind of felt under those feet to make them a little "softer" on the floor.
Question: Can sheet linoleum be cut down into tiles? I'd like to do a two-toned checkerboard pattern, but one of the colors I like is only available in sheet.
Answer: No, the sheet goods cannot be cut down into tiles.
Question: Do I have to level the subfloor when using sheet linoleum? Or just have a plywood underlayment?
Answer: A lot depends on what your subfloor is. But a good general guideline is "yes, you want to install over a level subfloor" because sheet goods like Marmoleum will telegraph through any flaws, cracks, humps, dips and other challenges present in the subfloor. Here is the Installation Manual https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... and the Substrate Evaluation https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... which will tell you all that needs to be achieved for install.
Question: Is the color on the surface or throughout?
Answer: The coloration of Marmoleum occurs in the first 2-3mm of depth followed by a jute backing.
Question: Using the Fresco sheet, how apparent will the seam be if we have to have a seam down the middle of the room?I understand this is installer dependent but I'm just trying to understand from your experience what a normal seam line will look like?
Answer: Visibility depends on the color of the sheet, the straightness of the cut line, and how good your eyes are. We have Granada glued down with two seams that no one sees until we point it out to them. That's because it is a mid gray with lots of movement. Lighter colors will show more than darker. Any good installer should not have trouble cutting this straight with a net fit (meaning no gap).
Question: You sent me a sample of forbo 3030 blue and I am ready to order, but I need to know whether you only sell in squares feet or square yards. I need to cover a kitchen which is 12 feet by 22 feet. Do you have rolls that are at least 12 feet wide? Please call Robert
Answer: Marmoleum sheet goods come 79 inches wide (6.5 feet) and are sold in full square yards. So you/your contractor can install in a kitchen that is 12 x 22 feet and there would be a seam running the length of the 22 feet, roughly right down the middle.
Question: Does this come in 12 ft width?
Answer: Vivace comes on a roll that is 79" wide (6.5 feet) and 105 feet long. So you would need multiple cuts to span a 12' floor width.
Question: Can I order just 30" x 48", or is there a minimum size? Thanks
Answer: All of Forbo's sheet goods come on a roll 79" wide. Orders must be in increments of square yards.Copy and paste the link to our sheet size calculator to see just how much to order. Min. order size is one square yard.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: How would I make a table top using this?
Answer: Simply glue it to a clean, dry, smooth surface using our L 910W adhesive. Roll it out with a 100 lb roller or rolling pin, then finish the edges with a router or a piece of metal or wood trim. Marmoleum makes for a beautiful, non-toxic, naturally antimicrobial, and affordable countertop. Not recommended for surfaces that you will be cutting directly on.If you need more specifics, please call us 800-405-0222.
Question: Can I get cinch lock in oyster mountain?
Answer: Cinch Loc is only available in those specific Cinch Loc colors, sorry. No Oyster Mountain.
Question: What is a good color combination for a black and white checkered floor? We were considering Black Hole paired with Mercury since there's no true white but are debating if Stardust would come off more "white"?
Answer: There is no true white as the Marmoleum has linseed oil in it which is a "golden" oil. Your best way to know is to order a small sample and see them in person. This way, you'll see it in your light and own personal space which is much better than seeing it on a screen.
Question: is this tile anti-static?
Answer: Yes, all the Marmoleum we sell is completely non-toxic, antimicrobial, and anti-static. It's a big reason why this is so popular in schools and hospitals.
Question: Can it be used on a painted wall as a backsplash ?
Answer: You may do that. Here are the instructions to follow from Forbo. https://forbo.blob.core.windows.net/f...
Question: Can it be steam mopped?
Answer: Marmoleum is impregnated with TopShield 2 acrylic sealer and regular sweeping and damp mopping is all that is usually required. Forbo does not mention that you cannot use steam cleaning. However, common sense requires that you need to be careful when spraying over seams. You also need to be conscious of how close you hold the cleaning head to the surface of the floor and how long you hold it in one place. Here is a link to Forbo's Residential floor care guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Looking for a flooring product for an outdoor shower with urine resistance?
Answer: None of the flooring we sell would work in an exterior setting.
Question: I am a printmaking student, and we use linoleum as our block to carve. Is all of the flooring sheets the same material that we can use to carve?
Answer: We've never used our Marmoleum as a printmaking medium. You are welcome to try, samples are $1 each on our website. I suspect they are not deep enough for carving (they are roughly 1/10" thick), but I am not a printmaker.
Question: I am turning a carpeted bedroom into a workspace and would like to cover the entire room -350 square feet. Can I lay the Marmoleum over the carpet without glueing in case it needs to be turned back into a bedroom? The carpeting is very low wool.
Answer: Absolutely not. The sheet Marmoleum needs to only be installed over a structurally sound surface, like a plywood subfloor.
Question: Can this be place directly over a cement foundation?
Answer: Here are the application instructions for this flooring : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... as well as the substrate evaluation : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... .
Question: Can marmoleum sheet be installed on concrete floor?
Answer: Absolutely. Review the Manufacturer's Substrate Evaluation & Preparation Guidelines (link below) to get a complete overview of the qualifications your concrete floor needs to have before you apply forbo glue-down sheet on top of it.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...In shorthand, the concrete needs to be clean, dry, flat, and structurally stable. It needs to be completely cured. If there are cracks, grooves, irregularities, these must be filled and smoothed before the sheet is applied... (many other specifics, read the documentation)
Question: Is it a peel and stick product?
Answer: No. This is a glue-down sheet floor. The adhesive is sold separately. Below is a quick overview installation video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPgMg...
Question: does this work for countertop resurfacing on top of old laminate?
Answer: It is not advised to install on top of old existing laminate countertop.
Question: Is there a way to get a picture of the Shitake 3233 in my room? I see you can see other colors in your room.
Answer: Right now the only Marmoleum products we have in the room visualizer are the Click Cinch Loc colors. Go ahead a load up either Shitake Panel or Shitake Square in the visualizer to get a very close approximation to what the Forbo Real Sheet Good Shitake 3233 would look like in your room.
Question: Which product do you suggest for a retro red and white checked floor?
Answer: This MCT will work well for that. You will not find "true white" in the Marmoleum linoleum because it is made with linseed oil which is yellowy in color. Therefore, they are not able to make a "true white". You may order small samples online of the colors they have so you may see them in person in your light in your space before ordering the full product.
Question: Can I use this on my stairs?
Answer: Per the installation instructions, yes. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... Follow the instructions on the bottom of page 3.
Question: Is this particular color (Kyoto) in stock for 60 sq ft?
Answer: Our Q&A section is not where we can answer questions like this, as stock levels can change overnight. Please call us at 1-888-302-6051 M-F 9-5pm CST and we can give you accurate and timely stock levels.
Question: How long is the average wait time from order to delivery? I plan to purchase Marmoleum and Bamboo flooring.
Answer: Lead and shipping time is affected by two factors: whether there is flooring stock available, and your location relative to where that stock is located. If you call 1-888-727-2101 and give us the QTY and Name of the flooring you are interested in and Where it is shipping to we can give you a more solid estimate. Most flooring, given ideal circumstances, would arrive within 2-3 weeks (average). Anything longer than this ideal we would reach out to you to let you know the revised timeline and confirm that you are okay with that. With regards to Marmoleum and Bamboo, we do have certain Marmoleum titles that are on backorder at the time of this writing, backorder details are included on the product detail pages right above the product write-up.
Question: What size are the Marmoleum samples?
Answer: The glue down Marmoleum samples are approximately 6" x 7"
Question: Can you install this or the Click over linoleum?
Answer: Provided the linoleum is flat, dry and stable, yes, you could install either glue down sheet/tile or marmoleum click cinch loc over top.
Question: What type of area rugs are safe to use over Marmoleum Concrete?
Answer: According to Forbo Marmoleum, as a general recommendation, they would say that any rugs or mats just need to have a soft, non-staining backing. This information is normally printed on the label of the rug.
Question: I have a Marmoleum to carpet and Marmoleum to bare concrete transition. What do you recommend for transition strips?
Answer: Depending on any height differences between the flooring types in question, you have 2 primary options. If the floors being transitioned are level with each other in height, your looking for a T-Molding. If the floors are not level, a Reducer or Threshold molding will bridge the gap between the floor types and provide the height transition as well.In our experience, Versatrim.com has complimentary molding colors to the many colors available for Marmoleum. We do not retail their products, but you can order directly through their website or via phone at 866-200-8132.
Question: Can this product be used as a mat or rug on top of hardwood floors? I am looking for a 9ft round to go under a dining table in my great room. The chairs have casters and I want to protect my hardwood floors. I would NOT want this installed but used as a rug.
Answer: This product would absolutely not work in this way. It is made to be glued down to a stable and flat subfloor, period. You are looking for an area rug (which we do sell) or a floor mat (which we do not sell).Area rugs are here: We can also do custom sizing if you have a specific size in mind, call in for a quote.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: Hi. I would like to know if I can use the tiles in my kitchen as well?
Answer: If you are asking after the Forbo Glue Down Marmoleum Tiles, yes, these are wonderful for kitchen floors.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: Do you have installers in my area who are experienced in installing this product?
Answer: In seeking out installers many customers have found this website useful: cfiinstallers.org. Look for anyone with experience in vinyl sheeting as they will be a good candidate for Marmoleum sheeting. There are a few differences between vinyl and Marmoleum that are easy to understand as long as they read the instructions. We are happy to discuss with your contractor if they have questions.
Question: The Residential Floor Cleaning Instructions say to Mix 1/2 ?? 1 ounce of Forbo Neutral pH Cleaner per 1 gallon of unheated tap water. Do you know how I can measure that with cup measures? (I just received a sample of Forbo Marmoleum Modular - Tile Item #85972 in Refreshing Green and it is lovely. I want to make sure that if we go with this flooring, that I know how to take care of it properly.)
Answer: Of course! 1 US fluid ounce is equal to 2 US Tablespoons.
Question: Can I get the free shipping on 185 ft2 to P7A 5Z7 Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada? Please LMK. Thx
Answer: Sorry, only to the US.
Question: Can this product be used to create countertops?
Answer: Yes, any of the Marmoleum sheet good products can be used on a countertop, with the caveat that this is a soft surface, and you need to treat it will care.- You will need to use a cutting board for cutting and other tool use.- You will need to use trivets and pot holders for hot pans.- You will need to wipe up food and liquid spills quickly, anything left on the counter for too long can begin eating into the surface protection.- Clean with a mild pH neutral cleaner.Marmoleum Cocoa has a little bit of a texture to it, it's not smooth like other Marmoleum Sheet goods. We strongly recommend you order a sample to get a sense of what it feels like before committing to your project.
Question: Where are the installation instructions for Marmoleum click tiles?
Answer: If you go to the product detail page installation instructions are included in the downloads section. We also have a video in the Details overview text. Links included below for convenience.Installation Instructions : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... Installation guide video : https://youtu.be/kZR11k-FhoIMarmoleum Click Product Detail Page : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A...
Question: Is professional installation recommended?
Answer: Yes. The subfloor needs to be perfectly flat and there are special tools and skills required. The Marmoleum tile and Click Cinch Loc are easier to install for DIY.
Question: Is there a reason not to use the regular sheet marmoleum instead of the furniture marmoleum as a kitchen countertop? It seems like the top sealer would make it more durable and stain-resistant. Is it not a food-safe surface with the sealer?
Answer: Nope, no reason. We've had a lot of customers who have successfully used the Marmoleum Sheet flooring as countertop material. This does make for a comparatively soft countertop (compared to something like quartz), so be sure to use cutting boards and trivets.
Question: Do the striated patterns on modular tiles (e.g. Item #53918) visually line up with each other in installation?
Answer: No, they are random.
Question: I have dogs and need something highly moisture resistant. Does this product qualify?
Answer: The phrasing of your question gives me pause. Glue down sheet goods like Forbo Marmoleum Cocoa are a great solution for high moisture areas, like wet bathrooms and wet mudrooms, as there are no seams for water to penetrate, and no wood core that would warp and swell if the water were to make it through a seam. Now if you mean moisture like water from dog bowls and dog baths - this would be fine with the occasional wet episode, though certainly best if you wipe up puddles and standing water as it happens or shortly thereafter. If you mean moisture like urine and other pet accidents, not okay. Urine is acidic and will eat its way through any floor finish and any floor if not cleaned up immediately as it happens.
Question: Can it be used on an open boat floor?
Answer: Marmoleum is made for indoor use only.
Question: How easy is it to cut?
Answer: This can be cut with a utility knife and hooked blade knife, with sharp tools it cuts fairly easy.
Question: can modular tiles be installed with frt 950 adhesive?
Answer: No. The Forbo FRT950 Pressure Sensitive Adhesive is recommended for a handful of forbo floor options (Flotex, Allura, Coral) we do not sell. For Marmoleum Modular we (and Forbo) recommend Sustain 1195.
Question: COuld this be used for a shower surround with a separate alcove tub? Is it waterproof enough for that if properly caulked?
Answer: Yes, it is waterproof if applied correctly with the proper adhesive. However, Forbo will not ever confirm that in writing nor will they warrant it for that use. But there are several of our customers who have done it successfully. Putting a large heavy sheet on the wall can be daunting and requires Forbo L 910 W adhesive. It must be rolled properly per instructions and sealed around the perimeter.
Question: can marmoleum be installed on a staircase?
Answer: Yes. There are detailed instructions for installing sheet marmoleum on stairs in the Residential Installation Manual, page 3. The installation manual is included in the downloads section of the product detail page, direct link included below for your convenience.Residential Installation Manual: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: do you also lay the marmoleum?
Answer: If you are looking for an installer, we recommend a website called https://cfiinstallers.org/ . We have heard many clients say they've used this site with success and found a great installer.
Question: it's for my floor. How many tiles come in a box and how much is a box? Thanks
Answer: Marmoleum Concrete is a sheet good, glue down product, so it comes on a roll and is sold by the square yard. As of this writing it is priced at 4.75 a square foot (or 42.75 a square yard). If you are interested in glue-down tile, check out our glue-down tile category page https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... . Question: How much to diy average kitchen?
Answer: Installation cost for a glue down sheet marmoleum floor is dependent of several factors, are you doing this completely yourself or hiring someone? What region of the United States do you live? What is the size of your kitchen? Is it a perfectly square space, or are there variations? Tool rental cost (if you are doing it yourself) is another factor. This specific sheet good (there are other types available) is (as of now) $6.27 a square foot. That is material's cost only. You will need adhesive also. And based on the condition and type of subfloor you are going over you may need to purchase those elements as well. If you call us at 888-302-6051 M-F 9-5pm CST, an eco advisor can review with you what is needed and together you can come up with an estimate tailored to your kitchen. Our most popular DIY Marmoleum product is the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc, you can float this without gluing it down.
Question: Is it waterproof? I want to install it in a bathroom with a doorless walk-in shower. I know my shower sometimes leaks big puddles and want to make sure it can handle direct water and moisture from showers.
Answer: Yes, this can handle moisture from the top without issues. However, Forbo does not warrant this for inside a shower. Outside the shower, no problem. You must used Forbo's Sustain 1195 adhesive which prevents moisture from getting beneath the surface. Also, use a good sealant around the perimeter. Samples are available on our website for you to test for yourself.
Question: What are the colors in the pattern?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Vivace Sheet comes in 9 colors: Agate, Donkey Island, Sunny Day, Asian Tiger, Green Melody, Granada, Cork Tree, Surprising Storm, and Oyster Mountain.
Question: Can Forbo Marmoleum Composite Sheet flooring be used around an indoor pool?
Answer: It will probably become too slippery. Not recommended for this type of application.
Question: Can sheet marmoleum be laid over sheet vinyl, if it is embossed? Would it have to be glued down? I also have a problem knowing if I can extend the marmoleum from the kitchen down the foyer & bedroom hallway. The bathroom is off the bedroom hallway. Will it look weird if the pattern installed in the bathroom looks too different from hallway?
Answer: Generally speaking, the answer is yes. However, there are several requirements that you need to read on the substrate requirements here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...Yes, it would need to be glued down. Yes, it would look weird if there were two different patterns, but if you choose different colors within one collection, such as Vivace, the patterns can work together. They are actually not patterns but characteristics such as marbled or linear or stone like, etc. Ordering samples will help you sort out this answer.
Question: How thick are these tiles?
Answer: These tiles measure 13" x 13" x 2.0 mm thick.
Question: do this floor needs to be glued down?
Answer: Marmoleum Real is a sheet good that absolutely needs to be glued down to a flat and dimensionally stable surface. If you are looking for a floating floor, no glue required, option of Marmoleum, that would be the Click Cinch Loc Flooring.
Question: Can this be used on Kitchen counters?
Answer: Yes. Any Marmoleum sheet product will work on a countertop or desktop. Check out the Forbo Furniture Linoleum on our site too. You will need to use L 910W adhesive for these applications.
Question: Are the Forbo Marmoleum Splash colors 3430, 3431, 3432 and 3433 offered in tiles or another form that could adapt to subfloors that don't meet the stated requirements?
Answer: I can confirm that the Marmoleum Splash Sheet colors are exclusive to the Splash sheet line and are not currently available in the various tile glue down or click cinch loc forms. I am not sure I understand the portion of your question about "subfloor that don't meet the stated requirements", I would need more information about what your subfloor is specifically.
Question: Forbo Marmoleum Concrete - SheetItem #81853 What size does this come In? In the color red. And how is this installed? Glue down? Or click?
Answer: When you scroll down the product page to the Specs section, it tells you these sheet goods come 79" wide. Further down the page under Features it states Installation as glue down. In the Downloads section on the right hand side of the page, you will always find installation instructions for any product we sell. Here are those for this product. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Will the jute on the back mold if adhered to concrete? Has this been tested?
Answer: According to the Forbo tech department, Marmoleum itself inhibits the growth of mold, but they don't believe they have ever tested the jute itself. If there is mold growing on the concrete, it presents its own set of concerns. If the mold is there prior to installation, it would be a sign of a moisture issue in the space which will need to be addressed prior to installation. RH, Calcium Chloride, & pH testing should be conducted on the concrete slab prior to installation to ensure the proper adhesive is used. If the results come in too high, moisture mitigation may be necessary. Those are words directly from Forbo.
Question: Can Forbo products be used on ceilings?
Answer: According to Forbo, technically yes. But it would be very difficult. It's a heavy product which needs a 100 pound roller to install it. That would be pretty difficult on the ceiling. If you do go forward with it, you will need to use the Forbo L910 adhesive as that works best against gravity. Also make certain to have an installer who really knows what they're doing install it. Ceiling work is tricky.
Question: Can your products be used as a shower wall? Also, are the tiles groutable?
Answer: This cannot be used in a shower and is not meant to have grout used on it.
Question: Has anyone used this for countertops?
Answer: O Yes. Any of Forbo Marmoleum Sheet products can be used as a countertop. Also there is a collection called Furniture Linoleum you may wish to see as well. In any case you will need to adhere it with Sustain L 910W adhesive. We have made numerous desktops with Marmoleum in our offices. Also, many of the original AirStream trailers used Marmoleum sheeting on the floors, walls and countertops.
Question: is marmoleum waterproof, for bathroom use?
Answer: We would classify it as water resistant, and the glue down sheet goods such as the Vivace are perfect for bathrooms.
Question: is there something special to put in between the seams to seal them and make the seam less noticeable?
Answer: The seam will be minimal and will not need to be sealed. The manufacturer requires the second roll overlap the first roll to allow the proper shrinkage that will occur once in the glue. We suggest reading over the installation guidelines and watching Forbo's Youtube video of sheet installation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPgMg... Installation Guidelines are located in the downloads section on the product detail page (direct link below for your convenience).https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Is there a place to see these tiles near Amherst MA?
Answer: Green Building Supply is the largest nationwide dealer of all Marmoleum flooring products, however, we do that from our store in Iowa and via our website. Samples of their sheet, tile or floating products can be ordered directly and quickly from our website.
Question: why are some of the colors discontinued? and if they are, why do you guys still have them in the photos to show examples?
Answer: Forbo changes colors that don't sell well. Sometimes these changes happen suddenly and frequently and we overlook the room scenes. Sorry about that. We will get our IT department to remove them.
Question: Can this be installed in an rv bathroom?
Answer: Sure, as long as you follow the manufacturers directions. Make sure the product is installed at normal room temperature and humidity. Once it is full cured, it can be subjected to colder or hotter temps.
Question: Can Marmoleum be used in commercial kitchen?
Answer: Absolutely, with a couple of caveats. (1) When cleaning, always use a neutral pH cleaner. Anything harsher will degrade the topshield 2 protective layer. (2) If using on countertops. do not cut directly on the marmoleum, do not place hot pots, etc. directly on the marmoleum, use cutting boards and trivets. Here is the commercial installation guide. See page 3 for recommended usage applications, which includes food service, bakery, deli, eating areas etc. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can the marmoleum striato work as a counter cover? We need to recover some in our rv!
Answer: Marmoleum has been used on countertops for decades especially in AirStreams. Marmoleum is not for cutting on (use a cutting board) but makes for a beautiful, inexpensive, warm countertop that is naturally antimicrobial. We've used it on desktops and countertops in our showroom for years with excellent results. Simply apply with their Forbo L910 adhesive and be sure to roll it out very well with a roller. We used it on top of two sheets of 3/4" birch plywood, then routered the front edge.
Question: How large is the sample size?
Answer: Samples for Forbo Marmoleum Straito are approximately 6" x 9"
Question: What is the size of the Marmoleum Tiles each? I see 13" by 13" on the website but the samples I received are 6" by 6". When ordered, will I automatically get the larger size? Thanks very much. Karen
Answer: Correct, the samples are not full sized tiles. If you order the Composition Tile (MCT) each tile is 13" x 13".
Question: Do you make solid colors for flooring without the striations / textured designs? I really want a solid color. Thanks!
Answer: All of the Forbo Marmoleum contains some pattern and color variation. If you want to keep that on the more subtle side, we recommend you check out the Concrete, Walton Cirrus and Walton Uni lines for Sheet Flooring.
Question: can you use both mct and modular tiles in a pattern layout? Or does the difference in thickness make this not possible?
Answer: Correct, you are not able to use Modular and MCT together.
Question: Has Marmoleum ever been used for kitchen countertops?
Answer: Marmoleum has been used on countertops for decades especially in AirStreams. Marmoleum is not for cutting on (use a cutting board) but makes for a beautiful, inexpensive, warm countertop that is naturally antimicrobial. We've used it on desktops and countertops in our showroom for years with excellent results. Simply apply with their Forbo L910 adhesive and be sure to roll it out very well with a roller. We used it on top of two sheets of 3/4" birch plywood, then routered the front edge. Or you can order some stainless steel retro edging from NY Metal.
Question: Hi , I just ordered a sample. But I was wondering where the Marmoleum sheet flooring is manufactured and where do you ship from? Thx.
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum is made in Europe and it is warehoused in either PA or NV.
Question: what is the difference between Marmoleum modular and MCT?
Answer: Marmoleum Modular Tiles come in several colors as well as several sizes of each and are 2.5 mm thick. The MCT tiles come in a few colors and in one size, 13 x 13, and are 2.0 mm thick.
Question: what is the best heat weld combination? Blended or solid color?
Answer: That is totally up to your aesthetic. There is no right or wrong as the color of the linoleum usually dictates what looks best. Sometimes people use a contrasting color to set off the linoleum. Forbo no longer recommends heat welding with their welding rods as their new adhesive, Sustain 1195, is highly moisture resistant which makes it difficult for water to get under the seams.
Question: Is it possible to order a specific cut? im looking to put this in an enclosure but need a specific size in inches not sq ft. Is it possible to order it it in this way?
Answer: For Marmoleum Sheet Goods have a minimum order size of 1 square yard (36 square inches). If ordering in this size, this would qualify as a special order item, and should be ordered via phone. Please call us at 888-302-6051 M-F 9-5pm CST.If you are talking about tiny (few square inches), a sample or two might be enough to cover what you are thinking of. Marmoleum Sheet Good Fresco samples are $1 each and measure 9"x6".
Question: I was wondering are the squares easy to cut to make smaller patterns?
Answer: If you are cutting these down, theoretically it could work okay, but you want to make sure you get the angle of the cut uniformly the same every time to make sure there is no gaps in your seams as you glue these down, and it WILL make your installation more complicated. That said, if you are interested with this off book application, we recommend you order some samples and give it a try. These should be cuttable with a fresh bladed utility knife. Complete installation instructions are included with downloads for this product which is located on the product detail page, included below for your convenience.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Are their installers in Hermitage PA and is your product sold in the Pittsburgh area that's?
Answer: In seeking out installers many customers have found this website useful: cfiinstallers.org. Look for anyone with experience in vinyl sheeting as they will be a good candidate for Marmoleum sheeting. There are a few differences between vinyl and Marmoleum that are easy to understand as long as they read the instructions. We are happy to discuss with your contractor if they have questions.
Question: I am having a hard time understanding so please help. Is this one big piece or like the pergo type floors with piece by piece instal?
Answer: Marmoleum Striato is a sheet goods floor, so one big piece, we sell this by the square yard.More sheet good marmoleum (and an installation video) can be seen here : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... If you are interested in a piece by piece install, that would either be a glue down tile (see https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... ) or a floating click cinch lock floor (see https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... )
Question: 12x12 red white checkered floor options plz?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum MCT (Marmoleum Composition Tile) 2.0 mm x 13" x 13" comes in 53 Sf/Box.Available in red Bleecker Street and White Marble. There is no white white as Forbo cannot make that with natural materials. The White Marble looks beautiful and since they both have a marbled look, they go together nicely. Check out samples to be sure.https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/s...
Question: I am building all glass sundeck. I live in Georgia. Will this material color and adhesion hold-up in that environment?
Answer: It will certainly adhere but all natural materials fade in direct sun. It's best to use some low e windows or some sun shades.
Question: Can we see a photo of HennaMCT-3203 on a floor ?
Answer: You can click on the below link to check out Forbo's room visualizer. http://forbo-business.esignserver3.com/ You will want to select Collection MCT 2.0mm tile, then choose the color and floor pattern you would like to see displayed.
Question: What is the difference between "composition sheet" vs the "real" Or " vivace"?
Answer: The main difference is thickness: 2.0mm for MCS vs. 2.5mm for real and most other styles. Also there are much fewer colors for MCS compared to all the other sheet styles. Marmoleum Composition Sheet was mainly created for commercial applications where the subfloors are more perfect than most residential applications.
Question: What is the lead time for the tiles?
Answer: As long as they are in stock in the US, it is around 2 weeks from the manufacturer, give or take.
Question: Does smooth linoleum have any slip resistance, such as when you're getting out of the shower?
Answer: There is no slip resistance added to the Marmoleum. However, the matte finish of the Marmoleum does aid in less slipping. But really, any floor that gets truly wet from a tub or shower can be slippery because it's wet and wetness is slippery.
Question: What size are the samples?
Answer: Samples vary depending upon the way the manufacturers cut them. Marmoleum sheet goods samples tend to be around 5"x5".
Question: Can this be used to put over an existing kitchen backsplash?
Answer: Marmoleum needs to be adhered to a perfectly flat, smooth substrate. Application over existing tile is generally not smooth due to grout lines. Sorry, this product is not recommended for this purpose unless all the tile was removed.
Question: if i want to put marmoleum tiles in a bathroom, is it better to use glue down tiles or click tiles?
Answer: It all depends on how wet your bathroom will get. Some people are really good about bathroom floor mats and keeping puddles off the floor, or wiping up puddles when they happen as they happen and other people have children (or dogs, or both, or have a love for wet bathrooms). In descending order of best for WET bathrooms and marmoleum, glue down sheet goods (such as Slate, Real, Striato, etc.) come first, followed by glue down tile (Composition Tile, Marmoleum Modular). Period. For DRY bathrooms, you can use the Click Cinch Loc just fine. The concern with Cinch Loc is it has a wood core, which can swell if liquid gets down between the edges of the boards, which will only happen if you leave standing puddle water on it for a while.
Question: Can marmoleum be used on kitchen countertops? How do you protect it? Do you wax the surface?
Answer: So very many people have used the Marmoleum sheet goods for countertops with great success and have loved it. You do not need to wax Marmoleum sheet goods as they come with Topshield 2 on them which is a very sturdy finish. But remember, you don't want to cut on this surface as it isn't something hard you can cut on like stone. Always use cutting boards and trivets to keep the beauty of your countertop for years and years to come.
Question: Hi there, can this be installed in a garage?
Answer: We sell no flooring that can be installed outside of a controlled temperature/humidity environment, like in the home, and also none that can be driven upon.
Question: I would love to use marmoleum in my kitchen and laundry room. I'd like to know if it can be cut/laid in a traditional black and white diamond shaped pattern?
Answer: Marmoleum is available in a few formats of squares as are laid out here with color names of what would be the best option for black and white. In the MCT collection the tiles are a glue down format with tile size of 13"x13" - Color names: White Marble and Black. In the Modular collection the tiles are a glue down format with tile size of 10"x10" - Color names: Star Dust and Black Hole. In the Click Cinch Loc collection the tiles are a floating format with tile size of 12"x12" - Color names: Barbados and Black. Marmoleum is not offered in a diamond shape. Hand cutting marmoleum to a diamond shape would be quite a challenge to keep a consistent, straight edge but if you found a company with a water jet cutter or something similar, you could see about having custom tiles made for you. We have samples of all these styles and colors, we encourage you to order samples to ensure you get a color match you like, particularly since none of these colors are pure black and pure white.
Question: how does this hold up in hot yoga studios?
Answer: Conditional "yes" - there are two parts to this. ONE: If your hot yoga studio uses radiant heating in the floor, under installation instructions it does say : "Forbo flooring products may be installed over radiant heated floors providing the maximum surface temperature of the substrate does not exceed 85 degrees F (29 degrees C) under any condition of use." So provided your floor, if it is radiant heated, does not go above 85 degrees the product will hold up well. TWO: The Striato floor is an even flat surface, so adding a lot of sweat to the flat surface could make things slick. We would suggest ordering a sample to get a feel for how the floor feels against bare feet, and bare sweaty feet and hands if possible, before you make your judgement call. Forbo does offer a couple sheet floors that have a little texture to them. Check out the Marmoleum Slate and Marmoleum Cocoa. We also sell waterproof cork flooring also.
Question: Hello, im a block printer and use linoleum sometimes.I'm looking to use this material to carve designs into and run through an etching press. Was wondering if the surface is completely smooth or does it have a texture on its face side? It says smooth but compared to what? Need it to be as smooth as paper or smoother.
Answer: It is considered smooth. Your best bet is to go online and order a small sample of it so you can see and feel an actual piece in person to know if it fits your needs.
Question: Can Marmoleum click be installed outdoors?
Answer: None of the floors we sell are meant to be installed in an exterior application.
Question: One of the pictures above is labeled "Orange Highlights, Orange Shimmer". Is that color still available?
Answer: This image shows a mix of two forbo sheet good lines. Orange Highlights is available as a Straito Sheet good and Orange Shimmer is available as Concrete Sheet good. In the "Orange Highlights, Orange Shimmer" image the Straito (Highlight) is on the main floor area, with Concrete (Shimmer) being the floor that is surrounding the benches. Both Straito and Concrete have the same thickness and the same topcoat, so an experienced installer can mix and match like this.
Question: What about stairs and landings?
Answer: This is a glue down tile, so anywhere you can affix glue, you can put down this tile, which includes stairs and landings. You will need to find a metal or wooden bullnose to cover the front edge. Check out Versatrim.com and select Forbo as the manufacturer.
Question: How many squares in each box?
Answer: 45 squares per box.
Question: Can this be used over carpet?
Answer: No. Not only is the Straito is not dimensional stable enough to go over carpet, but it is also a glue down floor. A better bet over carpet would be the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc, a floating click floor that has a core of MDF. Alternately you could tear out the carpet and install the Straito on your subfloor, provided it is clean and flat. More details can be gleaned via the Substrate Evaluation and Preparation Guidelines, located within the product page downloads, link included here for convenience : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: What should be used to clean Marmoleum?
Answer: Forbo has its own neutral pH cleaner that is formulated to work with marmoleum. Also available is AFM SafeChoice Multi-Purpose Cleaner and Degreaser which can work on marmoleum and much more.
Question: Any of the sheet have more texture?
Answer: Most marmoleum sheet is flat, but non-slick. It is used in hospitals, schools and also historically on the decks of battleships. That said, if you want something with more texture there are some textured variations as well. Have a look at Marmoleum Cocoa for a subtle grit and Marmoleum Textura and Marmoleum Slate for more pronounced embossed treatment. We sell samples of all of these so you can examine them yourself and find the perfect match for your environment.
Question: Would Marmoleum work in a summer cabin in MN, unheated in the winter? Inside temp 0 degrees F. Would it crack? To what low temp is it guaranteed? Thanks!
Answer: We reached out to the manufacturer to confirm. As long as the space is able to be temperature controlled the glue down Marmoleum sheet products (Such as Forbo Marmoleum Real) would be able to be installed in this type of application. This consistency will allow the adhesive to set up and cure properly. Once the material is properly installed the temperature drops should not impact it.With regard to "guaranteed", which we read as "warranted" : The warranty will be for the material only, so it will be key that the material is installed properly. In addition to ensuring the proper installation guidelines are followed you will also want to inspect the substrate to ensure it is suitable to receive the new flooring, as any flooring is only as strong as what it is installed on top of. Any issues found to be the result of improper installation or substrate failures will fall outside of the Forbo warranty. The Substrate Evaluation & Preparation Guidelines is located in the downloads section of the product detail page, I will also include a link here : https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I am looking to do the floor in a van that is 6ft wide x10ft long how many square ft would i need?
Answer: The Splash series, as well as all Marmoleum sheet goods flooring, comes 79" wide by whatever length you need to a full square yard. Also, installing in "non temperature controlled areas" is a bit different than if it were in a home. Forbo recommends you keep the space conditioned to the following settings for seven days prior, all during, & seven days after in order to successfully install one of their glue down Marmoleum sheet or tile products:Areas to receive material should be clean, fully enclosed and weather tight. The temperature should be set at a minimum temperature 65 degrees F (18.3 degrees C). The temperature and humidity should range from 75 degrees F ? 10 degrees F (23.9 degrees C ? 5.5 degrees C) with a 50% ? 10% ambient relative humidity.
Question: do i have to order a large amount? just want it for bathroom floor.
Answer: The Marmoleum Real flooring sheet goods, as well as all other Marmoleum flooring sheet goods, come 79" wide. You have to order in full square yards, but you may order as little as one square yard.
Question: My floor is 12x20. How many boxes would I need?
Answer: Marmoleum Striato is a glue down sheet product, sold by the roll in Square Yards. Including a 10% overage, for a 12' x 20' space you would need to buy 225 SF aka 25 Square Yards. If you are interested in glue down tile or click flooring (which does come in boxes), we offer those styles as well. Check out Marmoleum Modular (glue down) and Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc (click) - both offer some styles that feature Straito like stripe patterns.
Question: Hello, wondering what adhesive is recommended for the Marmoleum sheet flooring? I'm looking for lowest VOC emission possible. Thanks!
Answer: The Sustain 1195 adhesive is made to adhere to the Marmoleum sheet goods and tile. It emits zero VOC and is non-toxic.
Question: How does this product hold up to urine? I have found that done polyurethane coatings darker and stain when a urine soaked garment is left in them. I care for a person with bladder incontinence. Thx
Answer: Marmoleum sheeting has been used in hospitals and school bathrooms for decades. They must use that for a reason and they wouldn't use it if it did not hold up well. If your situation is unique, we recommend ordering a sample to test for yourself. That is always the best way to know.
Question: Any experience with your vinyl flooring be used on bathroom walls?
Answer: Marmoleum is natural linoleum. It is not vinyl and contains no PVC. It's intended use is for flooring and only warranted for that purpose. However, some customers have used the sheeting on walls especially in RVs. As for showers, we have no direct experience with that application.
Question: Which color tile is closest to bright white? I saw this image on your site - https://<a href="http://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/Forbo-Marmoleum-Composition-Tile-MCT?faux=15919" target="_blank">www.greenbuildingsupply.com/Forbo-Marmoleum-Composition-Tile-MCT?faux=15919</a> - and the white looks pretty white, but I couldn't find a similar tile, Thanks!
Answer: Forbo offers two product lines of tile: MCT Marmoleum Composition Tile 13" x 13 x 2.0mm and Modular tile 10" x 10", 10" x 20", and 20" x 20". There are different colors in each of these lines. In the MCT line, the White Marble is the one in that photo. In the Modular Line, White Cliffs and Stardust are the lightest.
Question: can Marmoleum products be used for countertops? If not do you have a product suitable for that ?
Answer: Yes, Marmoleum can definitely be used for countertops. This has been popular for over a century for flooring but also works well on countertops. It is a hygienic surface because the tree rosin will not allow the growth of bacteria or pathogens. This is not made for cutting directly on so you will need to use a cutting board. Use a trivet for hot pots. Otherwise it's a beautiful, warm surface that cleans easily and is very affordable. Use Forbo L 910 W adhesive.Beyond this we do sell countertops made of recycled paper (Paperstone and Richlite), as well as bamboo countertops.
Question: What adhesive is used?
Answer: Forbo Sustain 1195 is our recommendation for Marmoleum Sheet, such as Straito.
Question: Should we wax the floor?
Answer: Marmoleum MCT comes with a sealer called Topshield 2 already built into the surface. No wax is required nor is it recommended. For worn out surfaces in high traffic areas, Forbo recommends their Forbo Floor Finish. Forbo applications guidelines here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I am looking for one case of MCT marmoleum 13 x 13 2.0 tile color Calico which is dropped do you have any?Brad
Answer: Calico MCT has been discontinued for two years and Forbo has no stock. If 10x10, 2.5 mm thickness works for you, you may look at the Marmoleum Modular Calico.
Question: What kind of underlayment can you use for marmoleum?...looking at Item #72013...want some cush ..
Answer: Marmoleum Sheet Flooring, such as Striato, must be glued down to a perfectly flat, clean, grade A plywood or concrete non-cush subfloor. Marmoleum sheet lacks the structural integrity to go over cushion as there is no wood material in it. If you want a degree of cushion topped with marmoleum, you could try Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc (which has a high density wood fiber core) over Quietwalk Plus.
Question: Do I have to order a full box of MCT of only as much as I need?
Answer: We only sell flooring by the complete box.
Question: Can floor marmoleum be used for countertops?
Answer: Yes, Marmoleum can definitely be used for countertops. This has been popular for over a century for flooring but also works well on countertops. It is a hygienic surface because the tree rosin will not allow the growth of bacteria or pathogens. This is not made for cutting so you will need to use a cutting board. Use a trivet for hot pots. Otherwise it's a beautiful, warm surface that cleans easily and is very affordable. Use Forbo L 910 W adhesive.
Question: How much would I need to floor a 12x 12 space?
Answer: Marmoleum Striato comes 79" x any length as a roll. To cover a 12x12 space you will need one piece 24' long x 79" wide which is 18 square yards or 162 square feet. There is a downloadable pdf Sheet Size calculator on the right margin of the Striato page for further reference. You will also need two gallons of Sustain 1195 adhesive (coverage 125SF/gal). Lead times are running about 7-10 working days.
Question: Is this floor waterproof and pet friendly ?
Answer: Marmoleum sheeting is highly water resistant especially when used with their Sustain 1195 adhesive which can handle 11 lbs of hydrostatic pressure and 95% relative humidity. Marmoleum used to be used on the decks of battleships in world war I and II. It can take a great deal of punishment, but large 90 lb dogs can scratch it if their nails are not trimmed. However, unlike vinyl, Marmoleum is repairable simply by buffing out the surface. Marmoleum is also naturally hygienic because it is antimicrobial--bacteria and viruses will not grow on the surface which is why it is used extensively in hospitals and schools.
Question: Are there qualified installers in Minnesota, I assume this has to be installed perfectly?
Answer: Yes, there are qualified installers, however, they rarely work on small residential jobs.?Many have found this website useful: cfiinstallers.org. Look for anyone with experience in vinyl sheeting as they will be a good candidate for Marmoleum sheeting. There are a few differences between vinyl and Marmoleum that are easy to understand as long as they read the instructions. We are happy to discuss with your contractor if needed.
Question: Can you clean these floors with bleach?
Answer: No, Marmoleum needs to be cleaned with a neutral ph cleaner so that the finish is not damaged as you clean. Forbo has their own concentrated neutral ph cleaner or AFM SafeChoice also has a multi-purpose neutral ph cleaner which can be used on the marmoleum as well as any other hard surface. If you choose to use or make a different cleaning solution than what is mentioned here, make sure to test the ph level to make sure it is safe to use on the marmoleum.
Question: Will Marmoleum work in an RV? If so, which would be better - sheet or click?
Answer: Yes, any of our Marmoleum SHEET products can be glued down to a solid stable subfloor in a mobile home, provided the temperature and ambient humidity are controlled for 7 days prior, during, and 7 days post installation. Please see installation guidelines here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... - We would not recommend Marmoleum Click for this use.
Question: I have old Marmoleum that mildewed in areas from water. Is the newer Marmoleum that sensitive?
Answer: If the conditions are right for mold & mildew (cold, dark, damp) it can grow on almost anything. It is possible that it could grow on any flooring is the conditions of your environment have not changed. A couple products that you may want to consider for your damp environment are:1. Caliwel Home and Office, Mold and Mildew Inhibitor, Item #91023 Caliwel is an antimicrobial flat paint that effectively resists the growth of mold, mildew, algae, fungi and odor causing bacteria. As a mold remediation tool, it will inhibit its re-growth for many years to come. As a superior surface treatment, it comes in white and looks just like a traditional architectural paint but cannot be color matched to other brands. It also guards against deterioration and discoloration caused by microorganisms.2. Waterproof Cork Flooring, Item #100963, Item #100936WaterProof cork is a new generation of sustainable, non-PVC flooring made by Amorim that offers a durable, long lasting, comfortable floor that is 100% waterproof. It is a click cork plank floor that can be floated or glued down. It's also beautiful, safe and climate positive for the environment. It has all the benefits of vinyl (WPC, SPC and LVT) flooring but with none of the hazardous chemicals.
Question: I was considering using Forbo Marmoleum Real - Sheet in my 1977 camper - what is the sheet size? thanks,
Answer: Marmoleum Real Sheet comes on a roll which is 79" wide, and we sell by the Square Yard.
Question: I need a 4 x 4 piece is that possible?
Answer: No. Marmoleum Sheeting only comes in 79" widths by any length desired. It must be ordered in square yards. The smallest would be 3 square yards which would be 79" x 49".
Question: Is tile peel n stick or do I need a special glue?
Answer: There isn't any built-in adhesive. you will need to use Forbo's Adhesive product called Sustain. The current version is "Sustain 1195". Here's a link to the product which contains usage and installation requirement documentation: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/F...
Question: Can it be installed over 12" square, ceramic tiles?
Answer: No, the glue down marmoleum needs to be glued either to a concrete or plywood subfloor. You could however, use the marmoleum click, the floating format to go over ceramic tiles as long as there was no more variation of height than 3/16" over an 8' span.
Question: Can I buy 50 tiles how thick is it can it be cut with a linoleum knife? does it look like marble
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Real is a sheet product, so you would need to purchase by the Square Yard in a roll for glue down installation. It can be cut with a utility knife and hooked blade knife. If you are interested in a glue down tile, you should check out Marmoleum Modular (comes in boxes of 26 or 53 square feet) or Marmoleum Composition Tile (boxes of 53 Square feet) Both of these can also be cut with a utility knife with a hook blade. If you are interested in a more DIY floating click floor check out Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc. All tiles are sold by the box. We have samples available so you can confirm you like the color and look before committing to the actual floor purchase.
Question: I need one piece 94" x 14.5". Can you do that?
Answer: The material is a standard 79" wide. The length can be cut to any full square yard increment. See link for Forbo Marmoleum Sheet Calculator: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: How durable is the marmoleum? Will it resist scratching and dents from things being dropped on it?
Answer: Marmoleum is very durable but just like most hardwoods, it can be scratched or dented if sharp heavy objects are dragged across it or dropped on it. Marmoleum is a resilient floor that will last 30-40 years under the right conditions. It is used in schools and hospitals worldwide for over a century and has even been used on the decks of battleships. Scratches and dents can be buffed out as needed as Marmoleum is a through body product. Unlike laminate that can't be repaired, Marmoleum can be repaired very easily.
Question: We have a bathroom with about 50 sq. feet of floor. Do you sell Marmoleum sheet material (#5521) in quantities that meet our need?
Answer: Marmoleum sheeting comes 79" wide by any length. Orders must be ordered in square yards with the minimum of one square yard (multiply square feet x 9 = one square yard).More questions, call us.
Question: will this flooring work on a ditra heat mat?
Answer: Unfortunately, Forbo does not recommend applying MCS directly over the Ditra heat mat system. You would need to install over a substrate that is structurally sound, rigid, smooth, flat, clean, and permanently dry, such as grade A plywood or concrete with standard electric or hydronic radiant heat. Here are the installation instructions you would need to follow to use MCS flooring. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/core/media/media.nl?id=1199630&c=772072

Question: Will this scratch, I have a 200# vintage stove to pull out to clean?
Answer: Marmoleum is very tough and can hold up to most weight. We use pallet jacks in our loading dock and roll #1,000 lb pallets of material over it almost every day. Occasionally there is scratching if tiny stones are dragged across the flooring.?When scratches occur, they can almost always be buffed out with a nylon buffing pad (GBS Scrub Pad).Heavy stoves apply lots of foot pressure on the floors and #200 lbs spread over four legs can scratch almost any floor if the floor is not clean or the feet are sharp. We would advise plastic moving pads, (aka sliders, available at all hardware stores) beneath the feet of the stove to minimize risk of scratching.
Question: does it support heavy furniture that could be dragged over it without getting stuck as happens with vinyl flooring?
Answer: All resilient floor covering is susceptible to physical damage especially from dragging heavy furniture unless proper precautions are taken. Unlike vinyl, however, Marmoleum sheeting is repairable should it get scratched. When moving heavy objects, the manufacturer recommends the use of plastic sliders (available at all hardware stores) or sheets of Masonite or plywood to protect the floor. Failure to use adequate precautions may result in scratches, cuts or other severe damage to the floor covering. Rolling equipment should have broad, flat wheels with rounded edges and without ridges. Wheel locks should be disengaged prior to moving equipment.
Question: I can see in other Q&A's Marmoleum is not a good choice as an area rug over a hardwood floor in a high traffic area. Can't I superglue a grippy felt pad underneath and then lay it on a hardwood floor? For under a dining room table and chairs. Also considering making another rug under an island seating area, w/ bar stools. That's a lot of dragging of chairs, which could have pads on the legs. I'm not sure how I'd border the "rug" so that it doesn't get nicked. Maybe some carpet trim upholstery sewn onto the marmoleum and attached felt rug pad? I thought I could stencil a design onto the marmoleum and then seal it. (Using low-voc products, of course.) Any creative ideas? The horrible-for-the-planet vinyl floorclothes look amazing! Help me!
Answer: "NO" - sheet linoleum must be glued down on a smooth flat subfloor. It should NOT be used as an area rug or mat, and is not made to stand up to the stress of being treated as such. We encourage you to get samples to try your ideas of super-gluing felt pad, stenciling and carpet trim upholstery before committing to a larger project. In every case, these out of the box ideas are not warranted by the manufacturer and you are on your own.
Question: I am looking for carpet protection. Covering for an office chair. I have tried plywood (splinters) same with bamboo. Plastic from an office supply store ( chair sinks into plastic ) I am thinking I need a steel sheet covering. I guess the real problem is... I weigh 300 lbs and the wheels won't move after sitting more than a minute or two. What would you recommend?
Answer: The Marmoleum sheet goods must be adhered to a smooth solid surface such as plywood. If you applied the Marmoleum over 3/4" plywood or some other similar hard smooth surface, it would be suitable for office chairs with castors. You can find heavy duty castors online that will spread the load evenly and not leave dents.
Question: Hi do you have anymore arabesque???
Answer: Marmoleum sheet in arabesque is a current color and can be ordered online. Please call in 9-5PM CST 800-405-0222 and one of our eco-advisors can check stock for you.
Question: Can it float or must be glued?
Answer: The Forbo Marmoleum Cocoa only comes in 79" wide sheet goods which must be glued down. The Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc floors are the ones you can float. Then, you may order small samples online of any of them to see and experience in person before ordering your full flooring amount.
Question: Can marmoleum be installed on top of old thin linoleum?
Answer: Generally, old linoleum or vinyl should be replaced before applying new Marmoleum sheeting for several reasons:1) The old linoleum probably has wax or other sealers on the surface that must all be completely removed which is difficult, time consuming and expensive 2) If the substrate beneath the existing linoleum is imperfect or failing, it will take the new linoleum with it. This is hard to detect but if the age is more than 25 years, it's a pretty good bet.3) If the existing surface is embossed or not perfectly flat, smooth and level, the new linoleum will conform to it and not look or feel normal. If your existing linoleum is in perfect condition, then you could apply Forbo Striato to it but we highly recommend finding a qualified professional installer and those are hard to come by. Try cfiinstallers.org.Should you decide against this, a better choice would be our Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc which is a floating floor that will sit directly on the surface of your existing linoleum, and will install easily without the effort or expense of the floor preparation. Here is our download document on substrate evaluation and preparation. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: can you use this on the walls of a shower?and will is it stick to durock on the shower walls.
Answer: None of the Marmoleum is meant to be used in a shower.
Question: Does the color "spa" come in either Tile or click-floating?
Answer: At this time Forbo only offers the color 321935 Spa in sheet style marmoleum.
Question: Do you have a pure white option in this product? Also, is it non slip for use in bathrooms?
Answer: Forbo never has and never will make a pure white flooring. That's because linseed oil is one of the main ingredients and it naturally ambers everything. The closest they can come is an off-white/antique white. Edelweiss, Moon, Barbados are very popular. Bathrooms and kitchens are the #1 location for this product as it naturally is not slippery. You might also wish to check our WaterProof Cork with the wood look. The White Forest Oak and Beach House might be closer to what you desire. It is also non-slip.
Question: Our home has lots of natural light. I have heard that marmoleum fades in the sunlight, particularly noticeable if you use rugs. What is this product's fade resistance?
Answer: Marmoleum is made with natural materials and has no built in UV additives to prevent fading. Same is true for most hardwood, bamboo, cork, carpeting, fabrics and paint all of which react to sunlight and will fade to some degree. Fading happens over time, but can seem most contrasting when the flooring is brand new. The amount of fading depends upon the angle of the sun and amount of UV light that enters your home. It also depends upon the type of windows and shading. Low E type glass reduces UV light by 50% as does window blinds and window film. It is especially important to move area rugs or furniture around for the first few months so that the fading is evenly distributed. This won't stop the fading but it will reduce the contrast between faded and unfaded areas of the floor. Unfortunately, there is no product on the market that we know of that can magically and stop fading. You can control it but you can't eliminate it.
Question: can marmoleum be installed over a hardwood floor?
Answer: In general, Marmoleum sheeting (Striato or otherwise) should not be glued directly over hardwood flooring. Any little bumps or dips would telegraph through which would not only look unsightly but could eventually cause product failure. Sheeting could only be used over hardwood, if a suitable underlayment was installed first. Forbo spells out their Substrate Evaluation & Preparation Guidelines in this document here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... A better choice would be the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc product which floats directly over the wood flooring without glue, or additional underlayment (provided the subfloor was fairly level and flat).
Question: Marmoleum click is described as being "natural." But doesn't it have the same old nasty polyurethane coating that LVT and sheet vinyl have? Would love to buy it uncoated and wax it the old fashioned way.
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc contains no polyurethane or any nasty ingredients. It is made with 6 natural products: linseed oil, limestone, tree rosins, wood flour, mineral pigments and jute. The surface is impregnated with a non-toxic acrylic sealer called TopShield2 which requires very little maintenance. Wax is not recommended as it is not needed and will not bond to the surface. The rest of the panel is made with high density fiberboard that contains no added urea formaldehyde and the backing is made of natural cork. This product has more third party certifications for sustainability than any other resilient flooring. Samples are available on line for testing of appearance and your own tolerances.
Question: Could this work in a Mobile home? I want to install into my bus/rv conversion.
Answer: Yes, any of our Marmoleum sheeting products can be glued down to a solid stable subfloor in a mobile home, provided the temperature and ambient humidity are controlled for 7 days prior, during, and 7 days post installation. Please see installation guidelines here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: Can this be laid directly over a smooth intact level existing vinyl floor?
Answer: Marmoleum sheeting requires a surface that is smooth solid and somewhat porous so that the adhesive can bond well. The problem with applying over existing vinyl is that it usually has some type of coating or wax, is not porous enough and often has slight indentations/embossing that will show through. We have heard of people applying Marmoleum over vinyl but only after they thoroughly cleaned, de-glossed and/or abraded the surface. Unfortunately, Forbo will not warrant their sheet products over vinyl which is why they invented the Marmoleum Cinch Loc floating floor that can easily be installed over the surface of a vinyl floor (assuming it is flat, smooth etc.)
Question: Do the seams show with click-loc tiles? Is the pattern continuous or is each square different (so you would notice edges, or seams)
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Cinch Loc squares or panels all click together very tightly. The seams are barely visible due to the marbled appearance and lack of any bevel. There are no repeat patterns. Darker colors tend to hide the seams better. The seams are so tight that water does not penetrate.
Question: Can I use white marble linoleum over my existing laminate countertops? Would sheet be better or tile? It is a relatively small space.
Answer: Sheet Marmoleum would probably be better than Marmoleum tiles just because there would be no seams on the surface of the countertop. A comparable color in sheet Marmoleum to "White Marble" is "Barbados," which is in the Marmoleum Fresco collection. Applying Marmoleum over laminate such as WilsonArt or Formica requires special preparation in order to create good adhesion. There are no instructions provided by Forbo for this, so you will need to do some testing first. You must also only use Forbo's L 910W Wall and Countertop Adhesive. Further questions regarding this type of application should be addressed directly to Forbo technical support at 570-450-0319.
Question: What size are the $1 samples?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Fresco samples measure 9 by 6 inches.
Question: Would I have to seal this once a year in my kitchen? I love the Fresco Blue. But I don't want to have to seal the kitchen floor once a year.?
Answer: No, you would not need to reseal the marmoleum annually. Forbo Marmoleum features Topshield2, a strong, durable protective top layer applied to the material during the manufacturing process. This water based finish ensures a highly effective shield against dirt and scuff marks and adds to the ease of regular cleaning. Following installation, cleaning with the Forbo Neutral pH Cleaner is all that is necessary. Unlike polyurethane finishes that will show wear and dirt ground into micro scratches over time, Marmoleum with Topshield2 can be refreshed and renewed, generating a new finish, turning Marmoleum into what is probably the best performing resilient floor. Thanks to Topshield2, the richness in color and design of Marmoleum stay as sharp and striking as the day it was installed. Your Marmoleum floor is designed to last for many years. Protect your investment. With a little care and proper attention, your floor will continue to look and feel wonderful throughout its long life. Here is a link to the Marmoleum Residential Floor Care Guide: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c...
Question: I have heard we must seal the Marmoleum once a year? Is this true?
Answer: Marmoleum flooring comes impregnated with Topshield2 which is a very durable sealer. As a consequence, no sealing needs to be done. After many years you may find that a heavily traveled area looks a bit dull and worn. In that case, Forbo recommends their Forbo Floor Finish. They do not recommend any other sealers as they simply won't stick and will not add any protection. The best way to keep your floor looking good is to follow their maintenance instructions here: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... If you do, you will not need any sealers for many years.
Question: Is the Silver Shadow available in square tiles?
Answer: No, it is only available in sheet goods.
Question: Does the Violet 3270 come in 13" ?? 13" tiles?
Answer: Sorry, Violet is a very unique color and it only comes in sheet goods. They are 79" x any length. This is a glue down product that requires a perfectly flat subfloor and a professional installation.
Question: Can this be used as an "area rug" under a family dining table and chairs over a new wood floor? Wondered if I could cut to size and use it without adhesive or undermat. Would it stain the wood floor underneath?
Answer: We have several concerns with this application: 1) rolling/buckling due to dragging of "loads" (moving/scooting of chairs with people in them). If unsecured with an adhesive, rolling/buckling could cause cracking of the surface layer over time. 2) This regular movement could affect the underlying "new wood floor" surface in unforeseeable ways. Staining, or most likely, abrasion to the floor underneath, is likely to occur 3) this product has no edge protection and the slightest kick would result in a damaged edge. Without adhesive, the corners of the Marmoleum could also begin to curl and become damaged. 4) This application falls outside the installation guidelines for this product, and therefore would not be warranted. For any one of these reasons, we ask that you don't try this at home. We offer area rugs that might be a better solution.
Question: WHAT IS THE MIL WEAR LAYER? NEED TO SPEC FOR A DENTAL OFFICE
Answer: Marmoleum Walton Uni comes in a 2.5 mm thickness. It is also available in 3.50mm by special order.
Question: I have had marmoleum in my kitchen 15 years but want to change it . Can the new marmoleum Be glued on top over it instead of removing it? My old floor is in good shape but some dings and scratches
Answer: Unfortunately, you cannot glue Marmoleum sheeting over the top of any type of sheeting such as vinyl or linoleum. A better option would be to use the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc Panels which can be floated directly over the top without glue. Very easy DIY installation. Any of our other floating floors such as cork, bamboo or hardwood may also work well over the surface of your existing floor.
Question: how does the floor hold up in a bathroom? We only have one?
Answer: Sheet Marmoleum is an excellent choice for rooms where water may get splashed, such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and mudrooms. Check out the following collections for sheet Marmoleum: Real, Fresco, Striato, Vivace, Piano, Walton Cirrus, Walton Uni, Concrete, Textura, Slate, Cocoa, and Marmoleum Composition Sheet.
Question: Does this have a cushion like soft step?
Answer: Marmoleum is an all natural product that is classified as a resilient flooring. It's dense but has some give to it. Because it is usually glued to a hard subfloor, the amount of give is not much but certainly more than hardwood or tile. A softer version of this is Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc which is a composite of Marmoleum on top and cork on the back with a high density fiberboard core. The addition of the cork backing provides more cush than the glue down sheeting or tile.If you prefer even more cush, check out our cork flooring which comes in a floating plank just like the Marmoleum click cinch loc. It also comes in a new waterproof version. Both are very comfortable underfoot and have more resilience than the Marmoleum.
Question: Is this flooring suitable for bathrooms and heavy kid use? Thank you!
Answer: Yes, the sheet Marmoleum is great for that type of use. It is often used in hospitals, restaurants, grocery stores, schools and other commercial locations and holds up very well.We just recently announced a new product worth considering. It is our Waterproof cork that is highly durable and can handle spills, pets and most children.
Question: Hi. Love this design! Can I get this in the "click" squares or only in the sheet? What is the approximate cost for installation for about 100 square feet, for example? Thank you!
Answer: The name of this color is Marmoleum Granada 3405 which is an available in the Click Cinch Loc format as well as the sheet. The cost of installation can vary widely from region to region; usually $2-$3/square foot for the Click Cinch Loc floating floor. This is a DIY product and the easiest to instal. It does not take a seasoned professional; any handy person can install this flooring.
Question: Can a sheet of this be used as a sort of area rug?
Answer: No. We do not recommend applying Marmoleum sheets other than what their installation instructions specify. The manufacturer will not warrant their product if the instructions are not followed. What could happen? The Marmoleum could slide around or buckle up on the subfloor and the edges could become easily damaged. When Marmoleum sheet is properly adhered to the subfloor with the correct adhesive and a 100-lb roller, it avoids these potential issues and guarantees a long lasting floor.
Question: I have a top of a drafting table I would like to protect and the normal sheets I can purchase are usually green or gray. I was wondering if I could glue this on top of the desk instead and just cut to size. The dimension of my desktop are 72' by 38'. Im considering the Forbo Marmoleum Striato - Sheet in compressed time. Could I order just what I needed? Since it is 79' wide just order a 40' cut? If so, what direction would the lines be running?
Answer: That is an interesting outside the box idea. Marmoleum sheeting must be ordered in square yards (SF x 9) and for 72" x 38" you will need to order 3 square yards or 79" x 49". The Striato series has a linear appearance that runs lengthwise. We recommend ordering a sample first to make sure you like the color and feel of this product. You may also consider our Furniture Linoleum products, also from Forbo, which were designed with desk and table tops in mind (samples are available for this as well). For table or countertop applications, Forbo requires the use of L910W adhesive. One gallon will be enough.
Question: I want to put marmoleum in my kitchen/dining/living room (open concept small house. But I have four dogs and a 150 gallon fish tank. What would be best and will the fish tanks weight wreck the flooring?
Answer: Marmoleum comes in sheet, tile or floating click planks. Any of these will be suitable. However, some precautions should be used for insuring the dogs have clipped nails or have carpet runners in hallways especially if they are large young dogs. Marmoleum can handle the weight of refrigerators and other large appliances as well as heavy fish tanks, but we always recommend using large plastic or wood sliders to protect it. Moisture is not an issue from the fish tank, but in the kitchen you should use caulking around the perimeter where it meets the walls so any overflows cannot get underneath the flooring.
Question: Can this be installed in rvs?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum sheeting or tile (any series) can be installed in an RV as long as the installation guidelines are followed. This requires a controlled environment of temperature and humidity before, during and after installation. Here's a link to the Substrate Evaluation & Preparation Guidelines: https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/c... Please call 800-405-0222 9-5PM CST if you have additional installation questions.
Question: Does it do well on the floor of a bathroom? Also is it good for areas where a wheelchair will be used?
Answer: Yes, Marmoleum is durable resilient floor used in commercial applications like schools and hospitals around the world for over a hundred years. It handles moisture very well and will last a very long time provided it is applied correctly. That means professional installation. No problem with wheelchairs.
Question: Does it need to be glued on? Moved into an apartment I wanted to put on top that can be easily removed when I go. it's for a yoga/dance room and was considering click tile or impact wood roll but love this if possible. Thanks :)
Answer: Marmoleum Striato is available in both the glue down sheets (79" wide x any length) or the Cinch Loc click floating panels (12" x 36" or 12" x 12"). The Cinch Loc panels can easily be installed over the top of most other types of flooring (except carpet) as long as the floor is smooth and level. They can easily be removed and reinstalled anywhere else. You can take it with you!
Question: Is Marmoleum concrete durable if dogs are running on floors or do bathroom doggy accidents mop up and not soak or stain concrete?
Answer: Marmoleum Sheet goods (Not Cinch Loc) will withstand water and damp mopping. Animal accidents may discolor the surface if left for prolonged periods, but this depends on the acidity of the individual animal.Dogs running on Marmoleum is generally not a problem, but if you have heavy dogs over 100lbs with long nails, they may leave surface scratches. It really depends on how active they are so it would be best to get a sample and try scratching it with their nails.
Question: I am considering placing an order for 4 boxes on MCT-793. What is the difference between the MCT and Modular tiles, other than the size of the tile? What is the product warranty for these tiles?
Answer: The main difference between Forbo Marmoleum MCT and Modular tiles is the thickness and size. MCT is 2mm thick and Modular is 2.5mm thick. Not really a noticeable difference. The other difference is that Modular comes in 3 sizes-10x10, 10x20, and 20x20 whereas the MCT only comes in 13x13. Also, the Modular tiles come in a larger variety of colors that are not the same as the MCT. MCT was made only 2.0 thick for commercial applications mainly where subfloors are professionally prepared and perfectly flat. The Modular is more of a residential tile that is used in homes where subfloors may not be as perfect and, therefore, require a slightly thicker product.
Question: I am interested In the Marmoleum flooring. I have 2 big dogs and 3 cats. Does it hold up well with animals?
Answer: Large animals can scratch or abuse just about any flooring except porcelain tile. And they can certainly scratch Marmoleum, as can heavy furniture dragged across the floor. The key, however, is that just like hardwood, it can be buffed out, repaired and refinished. You can't do this with vinyl or laminate flooring. Once they are scratched they cannot be repaired, and consequently they are usually dumped in a landfill within 10 years. Marmoleum is a long-term sustainable product, made with natural bio-based ingredients that are renewable and recyclable. It does not contain or off-gas any hazardous chemicals and is naturally anti-static and antimicrobial, which is why it's so popular in schools and hospitals - especially bathrooms.Marmoleum comes in 1/8""-thick sheets and tiles, as well as 3/8""-thick engineered floating planks and squares. While the surface is the same Marmoleum in all three cases, the installation method is different. Marmoleum sheet and tile are glued to a perfectly flat subfloor usually by a professional, while the Marmoleum Click CinchLoc is a DIY installation that can be applied directly over most subfloors above, at or below grade. All Marmoleum products will resist pet urine and scratches. While they may not be perfect, they are an excellent eco-friendly alternative that is beautiful and safe for you, your family and your pets."
Question: I need to buy linoleum for a bathroom floor that we want to switch to an eco-friendly floor. I'm looking for eco-friendly adhesive or whatever else I need. The linoleum is going on top of plywood subfloor. The larger part of the floor is 50-in by 49-in, then part of it is 42-in by 30-in. I would like to get one piece without having to cut it, if it is not too much more money. What do you recommend?
Answer: The sheet Marmoleum comes 6.5 feet wide by any length. If you order a piece long enough for the whole bathroom, you would only need to reduce the width as needed. That way you can install it as one whole piece without seams. Generally we recommend a professional to install sheet goods. An easier approach might be to use Marmoleum tiles instead, which come in three sizes: 10x10, 10x20 and 20x20. These have very tight fitting seams and are used in bathrooms of schools and hospitals across the US. Use Sustain 885 adhesive to adhere the tile or the sheet to a smooth, clean, dry subfloor.
Question: Does anyone have Marmoleum installed in their home in the Orange County California are? Can you recommend an installer?
Answer: I sure lots of people have Marmoleum installed in their homes in Orange County. However, most people now use either Marmoleum Modular Tile which is glued down or Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc which requires no glue. Both of these are much easier than the Marmoleum sheet and can be done by most handymen. For a list of installers that might be able to help check out www.cfiinstallers.org.
Question: We want to install the Marmoleum Composition Tile - MCT (glue-down tile) in our kitchen/dining & bath. Is this product recommended, or not recommended, for bathroom application?
Answer: Forbo Marmoleum Composition Tile (MCT) is recommend and used in numerous commercial bathrooms in hospitals, schools, locker rooms, and, of course, residences. The photo of MCT on our website is in a men's locker room.Forbo has created a unique non-toxic adhesive called Sustain 885 that prevents moisture from getting underneath it. Samples are available on our website. Go ahead. You will love it.
Question: I am trying to decide on whether to purchase Volcanic Ash in the 12-inch click or the 12-inch glue down tile. I know the price difference is key, but which one is more durable? It will be installed in a kitchen. Spills will happen, however I noted that it said to clean up spills before 30 minutes had passed...so I just wanted to check before I made my decision.
Answer: Marmoleum Modular Tile or MCT Tile require additional adhesive, a perfectly flat subfloor and more labor. The Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc requires no glue, is 2-3x faster to install, and there may be less subfloor preparation required. As a consequence, they may be very similar in price. The Marmoleum surface is the same for all products. The MCT Tile, which is the least expensive, has a 2.0mm thickness while all others are 2.5mm. Same warranty, same performance, same maintenance, same durability. Spill will not affect either as the adhesive is specially formulated to prevent moisture from getting underneath the tile and for the Cinch Loc product, the click mechanism is so tight, moisture does not soak between the planks. We recommend purchasing samples so you can see for yourself.
Question: Which Marmoleum product do you recommend over slab concrete for a condo unit in Palm Springs, CA? The temps can reach 115 during the summer months and we have very low humidity.
Answer: Any Forbo Marmoleum product can be used over a concrete slab in the desert. That means Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc, Marmoleum Sheet or Marmoleum Tile. The concrete must be clean, dry and perfectly smooth before installation. During and after installation, temperatures and humidity must be maintained within normal ranges of 50-80 degrees F and 50-65% relative humidity. Forbo (as well as most all flooring manufacturers) recommends the use of a humidifier in dry climates to maintain proper humidity levels. Please read and follow the manufacturer's installation guidelines located in the product detail page in the Download section.
Question: I was told that no one makes luxury vinyl flooring/planks in the United States. I find that hard to believe. I don't want to buy from China for many reasons. What do you carry/sell that would be sturdy, dependable and made in the United States? We are looking for something that looks like wood. We have pets in the house, so thinking luxury planks would be best for us.
Answer: We do not carry any vinyl but we do have Marmoleum, which is natural linoleum. It is manufactured in Europe by Forbo. It is very durable, all natural, non-toxic, and biodegradable. It comes in a glue-down sheet or tile as well as a floating click-together plank called Cinch Loc for DIY installations. You can find faux wood-grain patterns in sheet Marmoleum in the Striato and Textura collections. The wood grain patterns in Marmoleum Modular tiles are Black Sheep, Cliffs of Moher, North Sea Coast, Trace of Nature, Welsh Moor, White Wash, and Withered Prairie. The wood grain patterns in the Cinch Loc click-together collection are called Pacific Beaches and Cliffs of Moher. You can view the colors and purchase samples on our site.
Question: Would natural linoleum be a good option for flooring for a home gym? It is going to be under equipment that weighs around 1,000 pounds, in the basement. If it is a good option, could you send me a quote for a 10 foot x 10 foot section? Do you have any virgin rubber solutions? I'm looking for a product with zero off gassing.
Answer: According to Forbo's technical department, it's going to depend on how the weight will be distributed and what kind of Marmoleum your using (sheet, tile, or click tile). The Click is not recommended for 1,000 pounds, as the PSI is 300.The sheet Marmoleum has a 850-pound PSI load limit. If the gym equipment is evenly distributed 1,000 pounds is okay, but if there are small pressure points like legs on a machine, it will probably dent the sheet. It sounds like it won't work unless the weight was totally evenly distributed! The glue-down tile actually has the highest PSI, so even with high pressure points 1,000 pounds would be fine. Glue down tiles come 2mm-thick in the MCT collection and 2.5mm thick in the Modular collection. Unless you're okay with some dents, you should probably consider glue-down.Other than Marmoleum, we recommend strand bamboo, which is the hardest and densest hardwood available. We do not have any virgin rubber flooring. Our bamboo contains no urea formaldehyde or off-gassing finishes.
Question: We want to install the Marmoleum Composition Tile - MCT (glue-down tile) in our kitchen/dining & bath. Is this product recommended, or not recommended, for bathroom application?
Answer: The vast majority of our customers use Marmoleum in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms as it holds up well to moisture as long as the moisture is on top and not coming from below. Forbo's new Sustain 885 adhesive blocks moisture from seeping between the tiles. It does this so well that Forbo no longer recommends welding rods for the seams.
Question: I am trying to decide on whether to purchase Volcanic Ash in the 12-inch click or the 12-inch glue-down tile.
The Marmoleum Click CinchLoc requires no glue, is 2-3x faster to install, and there may be less subfloor preparation required. As a consequence, they may be very similar in price. Question: I am interested in your Marmoleum countertop material for a kitchen sink countertop area. The sink area is approximately 18 sq. ft. Would this product be shipped as 2 sheets of 9 sq. ft (1 square yard) or one large sheet of the size I need? Also, how can you trim this material?
Answer: Complete instructions can be found on the Marmoleum Furniture page https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/F... under Downloads in the right hand margin, halfway down the page. The Marmoleum sheet goods come in rolls that are 79-in wide and then cut by the linear foot. It is sold in square yards, so it is cut at approximately every 1.3 feet up to the measurement you need. The sheet good can be cut with a utility knife with a good blade or a hook blade.
Question: We are looking to buy Marmoleum in white. I see pictures of floors that look white, but can't seem to find greenguard certified or non-toxic no VOC options. Do you have floors that are white?
Answer: Marmoleum comes in an off-white but not a pure appliance white. It is available in sheet, tile or click panels or squares. Marmoleum is a completely natural and non-toxic product made of linseed oil, limestone, tree resins, natural mineral pigments, wood flour and jute. All Marmoleum products contain zero VOCs and do not contain or off-gas hazardous chemicals. Marmoleum has more 3rd party certifications than any other flooring. All of the certifications (EPD, HPD, MSDS) are located on the right hand margin half way down the page.
Question: Is there a large-format tile, similar to the newer large-format porcelain? Or could the sheets be scored to mimic the look?
Answer: I assume you are referring to Forbo Marmoleum Modular tile. This product comes in 10x10, 10x20 and 20x20 glue-down tiles. They are all available in dozens of beautiful colors that are through-body and will not wear off like 3D printed-type floors.
More importantly, Marmoleum is made of 100% natural ingredients, emits no hazardous off-gassing, and outlasts vinyl flooring. It is completely biodegradable and will not create dioxins (like vinyl) when discarded after 40 years. It is the greenest DIY-type flooring that we offer and is the most popular for all of these reasons.
We don't recommend attempting to cut the sheets into large tiles unless you have some type of perfect system for cutting 100% perfect 90 degree edges.
Take a look at our website for colors and styles that might interest you and we'd be happy to send you samples.
Question: My daughter is restoring a vintage trailer and wants to use Marmoleum on the floor. She wants the sheet Marmoleum that is 79-in wide, and she needs 12 running feet of this. She likes the Spa blue color (3219).<BR>The questions we have are:<BR>1. What is the price of this product?<BR>2. How long does it take to receive the product?<BR>3. What (if anything) is used underneath the Marmoleum as an underlayment, and what kind of glue should she use? The trailer has flooring that is marine plywood, which we have recently installed.
Answer: Many people use sheet Marmoleum for vintage trailers because it is reminiscent of the era. It can be used on floors, walls and even countertops. Prices range around $4.25 to $4.95/square foot (at the time of this writing). Lead times are appx. 7-10 days. 3/4" Marine-grade plywood should be fine as long as there is no residue/oil on the surface. Sustain 885 is the proper adhesive. Please read installation guidelines carefully before installing.
Question: Can and should Marmoleum be used as flooring in an elevator that serves as both a passenger and freight? We have construction projects that have to use this elevator for hauling demo materials out of the building on occasion.
Answer: If it was just passengers I would not hesitate to recommend Marmoleum sheet or tile, but it was not made for heavy commerical or industrial use with dollies, pallet jacks and lots of abrasion. We would recommend using either porcelain tile or vinyl tile.
Question: When using Marmoleum in a large area, what is done to minimize the visual impact of the seams?
Answer: There are several considerations for making sure that your seams will be even and flush. The main one would be making sure to trim the factory edge of the Marmoleum at a slight angle to create an undercut. This will help to make a nice, flush or net seam as it's called. If you are installing in a large commercial area such as a cafeteria, you might consider using welding rod and heat welding the seams. This requires a special expensive equipment and professional know-how to apply correctly. Heat welding is not needed in most residential settings because the required Sustain 885 adhesive will prevent moisture from seeping underneath. There are videos and good instructions available for Forbo Marmoleum sheet seaming techniques on our website https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/A... and YouTube.
Question: I am looking to purchase Marmoleum tile in the next six months for a home that I am now building. The tile will be used above grade on the second floor. I would like to add an underlayment under the linoleum to help with foot fall noise. Will AcoustiCork Cork Plus 250 work? The material is a cork mix with EVA and is 2.5mm thick.
Answer: Spoke with Forbo Technical and they said that using cork would not work beneath their modular tile, as there would be too much movement up and down which would create issues with the adhesion to the cork. They will not guarantee their product over cork.
What you might want to consider is using a 1/4-in plywood underlayment. You can glue and staple it down and then glue the Marmoleum right over it. This will add some acoustical insulation but according to Forbo the exact amount of sound deadening or impact resistance has not been tested. The company that makes the plywood might be able to provide that information. Another idea might be to use the Forbo Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc planks or squares which are floating floors made with Marmoleum on the top, cork on the bottom and a high density fiberboard (HDF) in the middle. These are ready-made and will provide much better sound deadening than the tile by itself or with plywood beneath it. The Marmoleum Click tiles are 12x12 and the panels are 12x36. They come in dozens of colors and can be creatively designed just like the glue-down tiles but installed much easier and with no glue.
Question: We'd like to get some stair nosing to go with our Marmoleum Click Striato floor in Pacific Beaches. Can you help?
Answer: We do have both a locking stair nosing as well as an overlap stairnose. Both are color-compatible to the Pacific Beaches Marmoleum Click. They are made of solid Maple and available in 6.5-ft lengths. Lead time is roughly two weeks to deliver.
Question: I am trying to decide what type of flooring to put in house I will take possession of in May. I want a not-so-hard floor as my dog fell off the sofa the other day onto my hard tile floor (she landed on her back which is already painful for her). So I'm thinking of Marmoleum. What do you think of for an entire house? I thought about cork but think it will be torn up a bit after a while by dog claws. Then there is bamboo...but I'm just not sure. But definitely thinking of Marmoleum for kitchen and baths. What do you think - have you ever seen Marmoleum for an entire house?
Answer: It sounds like you are heading the right direction! We typically recommend either Marmoleum Click or Cork floating floors for customers requesting a softer flooring option. We don't usually recommend either Marmoleum or Cork for someone with pets since larger dogs or cats seem to love tearing into it with their claws. This can be prevented, however, with carpet runners and proper maintenance of their claws. It's also not an issue if you have smaller dogs under, say, 30 pounds. Marmoleum comes in sheets, tile or floating click panels and the cork only comes in floating click style panels.
Both Marmoleum Click and Cork floating floors have a cork backing which gives the flooring some cush and creates a softer feel underfoot. Both are DIY installations. Samples of all of our flooring products are available online, or call in to order.
Question: The price difference between your online Marmoleum versus what I would have to pay if I purchase it from the installer is huge. The installer is, of course, recommending that I buy from them, filling me with horror stories of buyers who purchased online and ended up with product that had been improperly stored and was too brittle and decayed to install properly. So. What to do? I appreciate the options of Marmoleum you display on your website. BUT. I'm afraid to buy from you without some reassurance. Do you warranty your online sales? If what I end up with from you is not great quality, and my installers say it's no good, do you pay return shipment and replacement?
Answer: We are a real brick and mortar store and have been in business for 28 years. We've been selling Forbo Marmoleum for almost 20 years and have yet to have a single warranty claim for imperfect products. Everyone buys from the same manufacturer and no one stocks this, so it does not matter where you buy it from. Buying online from us results in the same product shipped from the same place at the same time.
Yes, we warrant our sales, but we do not warrant for bad installations. If you receive something that is not first-grade quality, or if your installer is not happy with the product that is received, it should be rejected and not accepted or installed. There is no charge for replacing with a perfect product. Such instances are very rare.
Hope this helps. Please call or email if we can answer any more questions about Marmoleum, or help with anything else.
Question: We installed Marmoleum flooring about 15 years ago. Over the years the seams have loosened a bit, there are some dings and scratches and various discolorations I would like to smooth out. I'd like to use non-toxic chemicals as much as possible. What instructional resources are available to restore linoleum flooring? Is there any special technique for re-glueing seams that have lifted?
Answer: Cleaning the floor with Forbo's Neutral PH Cleaner, followed by their Marmoleum Floor Finish, should rejuvenate any areas that are dull or worn. These are both non-toxic products made by the same manufacturer as Marmoleum.
For dings and scratches, it is recommended to make a mixture of powdered linoleum and regular glue such as Elmer's. If you have any extra pieces of linoleum, you can scrape the surface and grind the scrapings into a powder. Mix that with glue, and apply it as a paste to fill small dings. When it is dry, you can sand the surface with fine steel wool to ensure a smooth, flat surface. We have samples of Marmoleum if you do not have any extra.
As for seams, you would want to make sure there is no dried glue or debris underneath the tiles. That way, if you were to re-glue the floor it would lie flat.
Forbo's Sustain 885 adhesive is the recommended glue to use with Marmoleum. If it's a small area to repair, you can use an adhesive like BuildSecure, which is a strong, non-toxic construction adhesive that comes in a 10-oz caulking tube.
Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any further questions.
Question: Can I buy 3 tiles? Marmoleum
