Most likely, the white is from soap or food or some other cleaning agents. Try cleaning first with the Paperstone Cleaner. You can certainly sand this product multiple times. Just use something very fine to start with. You will then need to buff it out with a superfine nylon type pad and finish with Paperstone oil and wax Finish.
