According to Forbo's technical department, it's going to depend on how the weight will be distributed and what kind of Marmoleum your using (sheet, tile, or click tile). The Click is not recommended for 1,000 pounds, as the PSI is 300.The sheet Marmoleum has a 850-pound PSI load limit. If the gym equipment is evenly distributed 1,000 pounds is okay, but if there are small pressure points like legs on a machine, it will probably dent the sheet. It sounds like it won't work unless the weight was totally evenly distributed! The glue-down tile actually has the highest PSI, so even with high pressure points 1,000 pounds would be fine. Glue down tiles come 2mm-thick in the MCT collection and 2.5mm thick in the Modular collection. Unless you're okay with some dents, you should probably consider glue-down.Other than Marmoleum, we recommend strand bamboo, which is the hardest and densest hardwood available. We do not have any virgin rubber flooring. Our bamboo contains no urea formaldehyde or off-gassing finishes.
