I bought the product to apply to the interior of a raised garden bed. But in reading the surface prep notes on the can, it says to apply a transitional primer on new wood before the Dynoseal. I haven't seen any mention of this anywhere online. Is the primer really necessary?

Dynoseal may be applied directly on new wood without a primer. It only needs to be clean and dry. The installation guidelines provided by the manufacturer on our website has no mention of using Transitional Primer. The only time that might be required is if the surface was treated with an oil-based paint or sealer.
