There is only one good way to protect wool carpet or area rugs from moths and that is to vacuum regularly, especially in the Spring and Fall when the moths lay their eggs. That's because it's the larva that eats wool and moths typically only lay their eggs in dark less traveled areas such as underneath couches or in closets. We know of no safe sprays that will do the job as they are typically pesticides which can rub off on your skin. Not good. Routine vacuuming is the easiest, safest and least expensive way to prevent these pests from eating your carpet.
