All floating floors require a clean, dry and even surface. It is very important to determine the source of any dampness when installing any flooring in a basement. If the dampness is due to condensation, then a dehumidifier may be the solution.Test the concrete floor to determine the moisture content. Moisture meters or calcium chloride tests are options available to your installer, or they can be found online or even rented. A vapor barrier is required over concrete, usually in the form of 6 MM polyethylene like our MoistureBlock Pro or padded QuietWalk Plus.
