Has anyone tried using this product to stain grout? I am looking to bring a light grey, unsealed grout to a dark brown, and suspect that this might work despite being a wood stain.

Give it a try. I don't know how it will bond or how long it will last as it is made for wood. Small samples are available. Normal dry time for samples without the hardener is 21 days. That implies that you don't wash it during that time.
