To be Greenguard Gold certified, a floor would also be CARB 2 compliant. CARB 2 addresses only formaldehyde in composite wood, where Greenguard looks at formaldehyde as well as a number of other chemicals and VOCs in a wider variety of products. Greenguard Gold is much more strict as well, allowing only 0.0073 ppm (parts per million) of formaldehyde emissions, where CARB 2 compliant flooring needs to be below 0.11 ppm. Our GBS Waterproof hardwood is zero VOC with no added urea formaldehyde. It is "third-party certified by Svanen (Nordic eco-label), GreenGuard Gold (Underwriters Laboratories), SundaHus (European Parliament), and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council). Together, these organizations provide trust that this product is safe, sustainable and socially, economically and environmentally responsible from cradle to grave."
