Can this be used on top of a vehicles metal flooring? I am considering using it for underlayment/insulation for a van build out. My plan is to level the floor (which has embossed grooves in it currently ) with strips of cork directly on the metal then lay 2 sheets of 1/4" cork then lay the the finish flooring which will either be Marmoleum or waterproof cork boards. Does this application seem feasible? should I use anything between the metal and the first layer of cork strips? Is 3/4" - 1/2" of cork underlayment over metal a suitable subfloor to lay down a finish material?

Your application of cork underlayment may work if everything is properly secured, ie. glued down. I doubt the manufacturer of the flooring will approve or warrant this, but it might work. Each flooring product has unique underlayment requirements. You will need to contact the manufacturer of the flooring to confirm what is acceptable and warrantable.
