No, the Wood filler putty is designed to be sanded and stained with the color of stain that you are using on the rest of the wood. It is fast curing and can be sanded and stained easily with oils from Rubio Monocoat, or primed and painted with any water-based paint.THAT SAID: As stain is tinted yet transparent, it will still show areas with wood filler applied. If you were to use the lightest color filler on a dark wood, if you stain over it, that lightness would show through to a degree. For best results, pick the filler powder color closest to the tone of the wood you are using.
