We reached out to AquaRain with your question. They had the following reply: Do you mean Nitrites? The short answer is no, AquaRain will not remove Nitrites. Nitrates and Nitrites are a very finely dispersed EPA listed contaminant that is difficult to remove if actually present. Unfortunately, no filter using Granulated Activated Carbon alone will remove nitrates. If you truly have a nitrate problem* and want to deal with it effectively, only Distillation or Reverse Osmosis will consistently work. Distillation requires constant maintenance, so we do not recommend it. While not energy-free, Reverse Osmosis is a very effective low-maintenance solution that is not too costly. The main drawback is the under-sink installation which may be challenging... *Generally speaking, if you do not have a particular identified water contaminant problem, be cautious chasing phantom problems. Most waters are safe with conventional treatments. Specialized methods are available to address specific water issues if needed, but these will cost more.
