Will this product serve as a protection from ridges and rough areas as an underlay for a linoleum flooring in a basement ??

Cork underlayment will help smooth out the surface but only to a point. It's not a miracle cure for bumpy floors.If your linoleum floor is a sheet, then this should not be used. If, however, you are installing the Marmoleum Click Cinch Loc, then this can be used to deaden sound and provide additional warmth and comfort underfoot. 1/8" thick is not much, so if the deflection is 3/16" then this can help, but if you have dips or bumps larger than that, you will need to use a patching compound for the dips and a grinder for the bumps.
