It's a matter of personal preference, but here are some of the ways microfiber is different than the terry cloth (cotton) pad.Microfiber is highly absorbent (it can hold up to seven times its weight in water), making it highly effective at picking up and removing soil and debris from a surface. It also has a longer lifespan than terry cloth when properly used and maintained, and is lint-free. It's slightly more expensive than cotton, but you get what you pay for. Most professional cleaning services prefer microfiber over terry cloth/cotton.Cotton/Terry Cloth is breathable, gentle enough that it won't scratch surfaces. On the flip side, it tends toward pushing dirt and debris around rather than picking it up (meaning you need to rinse often as you go, and might need to work a little harder to get dirt physically off the surface), and it is made of organic materials that can harbor odor or bacteria, and it can leave lint behind.
