Already have linoleum from 1978 on porch and kitchen. It is cracking from nail heads in some places so would like to get this taken up and replace it with sheet Marmoleum. Is this a good idea?

Based on what you are stating, it sounds like there are some issues with the subfloor. If the nail heads are coming up and causing cracking, then you are likely getting some movement in the subfloor. This would need to be addressed before any new flooring is installed. You'll want to reach out to a good contractor and have them check into it.
