I am considering linoleum kitchen counters from a very design-forward kitchen company (I believe they use Forbo Furniture Linoleum, as the colors/names are all the same.) The kitchen company states that you can't put anything hotter than 70 Celsius on it. I'm fine using trivets for hot pots and pans, but I just want to make sure that one can put, say, a hot bowl of soup or hot mug of tea on it without damage? Also, how resistant (or not) is it to water damage? Will a glass of water leave a ring? Can you not have an undermounted sink with linoleum counters? What else do I need to be aware of when considering linoleum kitchen counters?

Marmoleum Sheet goods (flooring sheet goods) are commonly installed on counter tops. It can withstand up to 194 degrees of direct heat. Topical moisture would not be able to penetrate through the Marmoleum itself, but if a seam is present you would need to ensure it is cut and installed properly to ensure no topical moisture is able to work its way under the Marmoleum at that point. You would also want to ensure any spills are cleaned up so as to not leave any residue on the surface which could attract dirt. Also, unfortunately, Forbo wouldn't recommend using an undermounted sink with a Marmoleum countertop.
