Any short tight berber style will work well on stairs. The Dartmouth style will work fine. You don't want anything too thick and cushy here. No underlayment is required. All of our carpet manufacturers will make runners with serged edges. You will need to call in for custom quote. Lead time will be about 3-4 weeks. Instead of a runner, your carpet installer can simply cut the carpet to the width of your stairs. That will cost less and take less time.
