Kahrs uses a UV cured topical coating of Acrylic and urethane. These coatings are ultra low VOC when wet but are completely cured in the factory, so there is a negligible amount of emissions weeks later when you install them. Having visited the Kahrs factory myself two years ago, I can tell you that there was barely any odor even when thousands of panels of flooring were coming down the conveyor belts after being glued and finished 5-7 times. Kahrs flooring meets and exceeds all US standards and even European standards for indoor air quality. The VOC levels are .017 ppm for the California CDPH. Anything below 10 is considered zero. Kahrs products are recommended by environmental consultants because it is one of the few products that chemically sensitive people can tolerate. Because everyone is different, we alway recommend that you obtain a sample to test for your own tolerances.
