I plan to install the waterproof cork on a concrete slab in a daylight basement that i recently removed glue down commercial carpet from. since removing the carpet it smells very musty down there. I was going to float the floor over the poly vapor barrier but was advised to look at this Taylor product and glue down the floor. My questions are: Will this product prevent vapor from traveling up through the slab? Will the old carpet adhesive need to be completely removed? Will scraping it off be sufficient or will it need to be sanded? Will this solve the odor problem. Thanks

According to the manufacturer, Taylor Resolute creates an unlimited vapor barrier which means it will prevent vapor from coming up through the subfloor and into your flooring. In addition, Resolute requires no shot/bead blasting, which means scraping off the adhesive is good enough. Their product also requires no relative humidity, pH or moisture vapor emissions testing either. This is as good as it gets for retarding moisture. Depending upon what type of odor problem you have, it will certainly help but neither Taylor nor GBS make any claims about blocking odors. Our experience is the these types of adhesives work well, but there are no standard test methods utilized for blocking odor; our customers say it helps, but often don't know the nature or extent of their odor problems. Please be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
