Sometimes looped carpet (such as this one) can show the backing when bent over your stairs (in the industry these are called "smile lines"). You should look for carpets that have a tighter weave, denser pile weight, or are in the cut-pile category. To narrow down your carpet options please take a look at the category filters listed on the left hand side of the wall to wall carpet main page. The "thickness", "carpet construction" and "pile height" filters will be especially helpful with your search. https://www.greenbuildingsupply.com/All-Products/Wall-to-Wall-Carpet Once you have found a selection of carpets to your taste we recommend getting samples and testing those samples over the edge of your stairs or another 90 degree hard surface. This will give a more accurate representation of how the carpet will perform in your space. Eliminate those samples that exhibit "smile lines" aka when you can see all the way through the carpet to the backing material.
