American Clay Earth Plaster, 50-Pound Bag
| Colors: | | |
Natural, beautiful, versatile, earth clay plaster finish
American Clay Earth Plaster enlivens any room. It creates an interesting new dimension that changes as the quality of light shifts in the room throughout the day and from season to season. Used either as an accent or to finish an entire room, American Clay enhances the feel and appeal of its environment. You and your house will never be the same!
Clay has a great workability that allows for a diverse range of finishes from rustic to modern, rough to sleek and loud to subtle. It fits residential or commercial settings such as art galleries, spas, corporate offices, living rooms, dining rooms, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, schools — or the whole house. Almost any finish imaginable can be achieved with American Clay.
The wonderful benefits of clay include longevity, mold-resistance without toxic fungicides, temperature moderation, dirt repellence, humidity control, sound attenuation and no VOCs. It's highly flexible and easily repairable. Clay naturally produces negative ions which repel dirt and grime that normally build up on walls. It also counteracts positive ions produced by electrical outlets and electronic devices.
American Clay is usually applied in a two-coat system over a sanded primer. Loma is always used as the base coat, no matter what the final finish will be. From there, a choice of three DIY finishes can be applied:
- Loma, as a finish coat, is the most diverse option. It can be hard-troweled for a smooth modern look, or tailored to achieve a rough rustic feel.
- Porcelina is a super-smooth finish like Italy's Venetian plaster. It feels so good to touch.
- Marittimo contains crushed sea shells which give the clay a rougher feel and a bit of a sparkle.
A fourth finish, Enjarre is designed for commercial-only. It's sprayed on and then troweled out.
There are 42 standard color choices, unlimited custom colors and three texture options available. The clay comes in 50-pound bags of off-white untinted powder. It's mixed with water, pre-measured color packs and any texture options; then rolled or troweled onto the wall. Once the clay is on the wall, it must be troweled out to credit card thickness. As the first coat is troweled on, you can create whatever simple or intricate artistic finish is inspired.
American Clay also offers a variety of additives and sealers to serve different purposes. Mud Glue and Up & EZ make application faster and easier. Mica flakes and straw add texture. Penetrating Sealer, Gloss Sealer and Add-Mix add water resistance, durability and impact resistance.
American Clay has been nationally recognized for both its form and function. It's eco-friendly, highly functional, easy-to-use and beautiful. It received the NAHB Outstanding New Green Product award, is recognized by Architectural Record as a Best Product and is part of INC. Magazine’s “Green 50” — among many other top national shelter, building, architecture and green publication acknowledgements.
