| Application Method | |
| Application Temperature Range | between 50-85 ° f |
| Application Instructions | Each kit of UDF-21 is packaged in a five-gallon container for easy mixing. The kit contains two parts: (1) liquid resin and (2) dry chemistry. YOU ADD One gallon of exterior latex or acrylic paint (any color of flat, eggshell or semi-gloss). With two coats applied, the coverage will be approximately 200 square feet
APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR ONE KIT:
Remove both wet and dry chemistry from container.
Empty white liquid resin into container.
Add one gallon of exterior latex or acrylic paint (any color)-resin. Mix briskly for one minute.
Slowly add dry chemistry while stirring briskly with drill mixer for five minutes. Stir mixture-loosen up any dry portion from the bottom of container. Dry chemistry components should break down completely and mix should be smooth and viscous. The coating is now activated and should be used immediately.
5. Do not alter the chemistry of the product in any way by adding or subtracting material or by adding other ingredients (DO NOT ADD WATER).
If you are working on a large area with more than one kit, mix each kit separately and then blend or _BoxÓ together for color consistency.
Apply an initial coat between deck boards-cover edges and use typical _cut inÓ techniques around adjacent structures, etc. Cut in with two coats. Allow-dry between coats.
Allow UDF-21-dry-the touch, usually about 1 hour under normal temperature and humidity. However, if it is very cool or very humid it could take longer and conversely; if it is warmer and dryer, it could take less time-dry.
For best coverage, use a 3/8Ó nap paint roller and roll out the first coat perpendicular-(against) the grain. This allows the coating-work into the cracks and splinters, filling them up and locking them down. Allow-dry completely before applying the second coat.
10. Apply second coat in the opposite direction or parallel with the grain of the wood. The second coat is key-attaining the proper texture. If a more aggressive non-slip texture is desired, use a one-inch nap roller for the second coat. Be consistent in your technique. Allow-dry.
11. Additional coats may be applied-build the final mil thickness, if desired.
Clean tools with water. keep a lid on any extra product and store in a cool, dark and dry space. activated coatings will have an approximate 14-day pot life. buckets should be cleaned and re-used. |
| Surface or Product Preperation | Surface should be clean, dry, dull, pH neautral, and of moderate temperature
CLEAN: Surfaces should be thoroughly clean, free of dirt, sealer or waxes, peeling paint, mildew, tar, glaze, efflorescence, laitance, grease or oily substances. Loose mortar or cement should be removed. Clean the surface by power washing, and allow substrate to dry completely for a minimum of 48 hours
DRY: The surface needs to be thoroughly dry. Never apply over wet concrete. For exterior projects do not apply if rain is predicted in the next 30 hours. Test concrete for possible moisture problems by taping an 18Ó X 18Ó plastic film to the concrete and observing it for 24 hours. If condensation is observed, moisture is present and the source should be identified and contained before proceeding
DULL: Glossy, painted, or sealed surfaces should be dulled by grinding or acid etching. If a clear concrete sealer is on the surface that is to be coated, the surface should be acid etched using a 10 percent muriatic acid solution or grinded to produce a profile for the UCF-30 coating to bond to. Then the surface is to be cleaned thoroughly by power washing. Note: Wear work goggles, rubber gloves and boots and protective clothing when using muriatic acid. A less toxic option is GBS Microetch
PH NEUTRAL: New concrete has a very high PH. Allow new concrete to cure 30-60 days at 75 degrees before coating. Concrete should have a PH of 7-9 before applying this product. Test with litmus paper
MODERATE TEMPERATURE: Ideal temperature for application should be 50-85 degrees F. Do not apply if ambient temperature or the surface temperature is <50 degrees or >85 degrees F. If temperature is less than 50 degrees F this product will cure too slowly or maybe not at all. If temperatures exceed 85 degrees F, this coating will set too quickly
PREPPING HOLES AND CRACKS: UCF-30 is quite thick and will easily fill most small cracks. If existing cracks are excessive (over 3/8Ó deep and wide), use an acrylic concrete caulk or commonly available concrete patching material to infill these areas before coating with UCF-30. Do not smear caulk/patching material on adjacent concrete surface. Caulk or patching material should be properly dried or cured before applying UCF-30. See manufacturers instructions for the proper application of these materials |
