Because Richlite countertops are a solid color all the way through, the appearance of any scratches is minimized.

To make this material, the Richlite company treats FSC-certified paper with a phenolic resin, and then bakes it to create solid sheets. Made in the US with sustainable post-consumer recycled materials that are non-toxic and eco-friendly, Richlite is an excellent alternative to solid surface plastics or imported stone. It is multi-purpose for use indoors or outdoors as countertops, tub surrounds, conference tables, desks, signs and plaques, window sills, cutting boards, furniture, restroom partitions, cabinets, wall cladding and more.

Although most cuts and scratches can be repaired with a light sanding followed by finishing oil, we recommend the use of a cutting board for food preparation.

Why we like it

Richlite countertops are similar to PaperStone but offer different sizes and colors. They also seem to be easier to fabricate. Originally designed for use in skateboard parks, this product holds up to lots of abuse. It looks beautiful in contrast to light-colored cabinetry and has a patina that gets better over time.

Richlite requires some regular maintenance, but not much. There are numerous ways to use this product; it always looks great and works well for a long time.
