Etcher and cleaner for concrete and masonry surfaces

GBS MicroEtch is an extremely low pH fluid designed to clean and open the pores of concrete-type surfaces. Like muriatic acid, it removes rust stains and efflorescence, yet it's non-toxic and non-corrosive to skin. After use, wash the surface thoroughly before applying anything else.

It's the perfect prep for our GBS Penetrating Sealer, Penetrating Gloss Sealer or any other coatings or finishes. MiroEtch will clean the surface, remove anything that may inhibit absorption, open the pores if they've been compressed, and neutralize the pH.

This product is specially formulated to be a fast-acting, high-performance solution. It will get rid of what's not wanted, and yet it won't harm or deteriorate masonry surfaces when used properly. MicroEtch is water-soluble, economical and easy-to-use.

Use MicroEtch to clean or etch sidewalks, driveways, buildings, floors, ramps, brick pavers, stucco, cinder block or any masonry surface.

Why We Like It

If you've ever used muriatic acid, you know that it works well but is toxic for your body. MicroEtch also works well, without the toxicity and strong caustic odors.

Features & benefits

  • Superior formula – prepares concrete and masonry surfaces to receive other coatings and finishes
  • Excellent cleaner – dissolves difficult-to-remove coatings, graffiti, oils, paint, mastics and stains
  • Easy-to-use – water-soluble; sprays on
  • Non-toxic, low odor – unlike muriatic acid, it's non-corrosive to the skin; non-carcinogenic
  • Safe — for everyone, including the chemically sensitive; learn how to test a non-toxic product for tolerance
  • Eco-friendly – biodegradable

ALERT: While MicroEtch is non-toxic, it's still considered hazardous because of its low pH. This being the case, it's a bit more expensive to ship. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thorough washing must follow use of this product so that it does not prevent the proper application of new finishes.

Application Instructions
Use full strength in a garden sprayer. Spray on and saturate surface and scrub into surface with brush Let stand 3-5 minutes max. Then powerwash off. Obviously, you will only be able-do a small area at a time. If it sits too long before washing it will eat into the concrete too much. It's best-thoroughly wash off with pressure washer if possible. This may require two washings. Use a mop or wet-dry vac-clean up. Let dry for 2 days minimum. If the conditions are very hot and dry it could be 1 1/2 days but if it is cold and damp it could be 3 days. The GBS Sealers need-be applied-a totally dry substrate so make sure it is dry. Once dry, test for pH again using the litmus paper and distilled water. If it is still above 9, try washing again with water, then dry thoroughly again. NOTE: Once you've used the MicroEtch you don't need-use a PH reducer as the MicroEtch is actually stronger than the PH reducer. If dry and pH is between 7-9 then you may apply any of the GBS Sealers.
