Ecos Exterior Porch and Floor paint is an award-winning, high-performance, non-toxic, zero VOC paint that's safe for everyone. Its unique and sustainable architectural coating is made with no solvents, biocides or fungicides, hazardous chemicals or toxic pigments. It produces a highly scrubbable high-sheen surface that holds up under heavy foot traffic for many years. Made in USA.
NOTE: Due to hot tire pickup, this product is not suitable for garage floors or driveways.
Like all premium quality paints, Ecos paint is thick and rich, and it hides very well. It applies with either brush or roller, leaving a beautiful smooth, even finish. Use on new or old porches or decks. Three coats are recommended for most porches. 24 hours between coats. One coat will cover 110-430 SF.
Ecos also makes a variety of specialty paints for ceilings, trim and furniture, radiators, EMR (electromagnetic radiation) shielding and air purification.
TIP: Box your paint.
Boxing paint means combining all the paint of one color into a larger container BEFORE painting. This blends any inconsistencies in color, especially on large surfaces where the slightest variation from one can to another could be visible. If you think you may not have enough paint to finish one wall, don't begin until you receive more paint. Box the new gallon with the original and then finish the job.
ECOS has industry-leading test performance and accreditations:
The first North American paint manufacturer to complete the Health Product Declaration (HPD) — an open-standard format for accurate, reliable and transparent reporting of product contents for LEED v4 that requires third-party certification;
The only paint manufacturer with Declare Labels showing LBC Red List Free (a transparent ingredients labeling tool developed by the Living Building Challenge for manufacturers to fully disclose all intentionally added ingredients; Red List is a collection of worst-in-class building materials);
The only professional-grade paint certified to ASTM D-4236 (non-toxic);
The only paint company with membership of the Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Association (JPMA);
The only paint company approved by the national non-profit Healthy Child Healthy World.
See righthand margin for downloadable PDFs including MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), HPD, Declare label, CDPH (Calif Dept. Pub. Health), ASTM D6886 (VOC test results) and application instructions.
Sample sizes (2 oz) of ECOS colors are available for $6.95 including shipping. Swatch Decks are also available.
Ecos has hit it out of the park in every way. Completely non-toxic and ultra-low odor, amazing coverage, absolutely beautiful colors and durable performance — just like you would expect. Their color matching is extraordinarily good and the vibrancy of colors will both surprise and please you. Pricing is reasonable. If you liked Mythic Paint (no longer in business), you'll love this paint even more. Check out some of their specialty paints such as Air Purifying Paint or EMR shielding paints. Cool stuff.

Application Temperature Range
DO NOT THIN. Stir gently and thoroughly before use. Apply generously with a well loaded brush or a narrow (6" - 7") 3/8” or 1/2” shed resistant roller cover. Floorboards - work along the length of the boards, not across. A minimum of 3 coats are needed. Use only best quality soft paint brushes/rollers. Work progressively along, do not over-brush, do not lay off, do not go back over wet or drying painted areas. Avoid applying below 41°F (5°C), above 77°F (25°C), or in direct sunlight. Clean equipment and brushes with water.
Surface or Product Preperation
Wooden floors - Ensure the surface is sound, dry and free of dust, wax, and grease. For best results clean with a Scotchbrite pad and detergent. This product is suitable for direct application onto bare wood. Fillers - seal with ECOS Filler Sealer. Knots - treat with two liberal coats of ECOS White Knotting. Bare concrete floors must be dry, non-dusty and free of laitance. Previously painted floors must be clean, dry and free of loose or flaking paint, and free of polish/wax residues. If in doubt clean with a scotchbrite pad and sugar soap, and rinse well. ECOS Floor Paint will key to most finishes, but a test area is always advisable. Remove dust with a Tak rag. WARNING: Older buildings may contain lead-based paint, which requires professional remediation if it is disturbed. If in doubt, consult with a professional from a Lead-Safe Certified Firm.
